Wanted to share this beautiful Madonna with Jesus I just finished restoring. She is over 100 years old, from Bavaria, Germany and carved in wood. Probably pine or fir. Belongs to a retired Priest in a Monastery in Ohio. Her hand had broken off and one of her fingers was missing. My husband the wood carver made the missing finger, and I took it from there. All finished, painted, repaired. The Priest was so happy to have her back . . .Praise be Jesus Christ, Now and Forever . . .
Look at this beautiful little Bambino . . .a treasure of our Hispanic Priest, Fr. Osman. The poor finger tip is missing and a foot has been reglued at some time. I will love working on him . . .
I know I am terrible but I am afraid the baby Jesus thing just doesn't do it for me. But funny enough I am fond of the Child of Prague.
When I delivered the Statue of the Madonna carved in Germany to the retired Priest he gave me a gift in appreciation. It is a box covered in velvet and when I opened it up, it is a Russian Orthodox Icon. I wish I could translate what the words are, but I can't speak Russian and google didn't have a clue. It's so beautiful, gold colored metal overlay over the top of the icons . . .
This is another gift I received from a friend, she put it together in a wooden box, all the work, and it's presented very beautifully.
I'm busy working on my own painting based on the style of Edward Hopper and his most famous work, "Night Hawks". I'm hoping it will have an impact and will be an interesting twist. Maybe I will have it done in a month . . .Pray for me that I don't get too many distractions.
Could you send a photo to the Russian Orthodox priest? Or to the Russian Embassy? Your work is lovely. Thank you for posting.
