Tragedy in Gaza One of the monks shared a heartbreaking story about a family in Gaza devastated by bombings. They were a family of twelve, with ten children. This tragedy reminded me of my own family. In one horrific instance, a bomb struck their home, killing the husband and nine of the ten children. For the past two days, I have been unable to stop thinking about the surviving woman and her child. This morning, during my prayers after mass, I asked the Lord how He could bear the suffering of His children worldwide, especially the poor and the many innocent children. I reflected on Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, where He sweated blood. In that moment, He saw everything—each of us, our sufferings, and struggles. He witnessed the consequences of our choices, not only for ourselves but for many others. "How, Lord, can you endure all the suffering we inflict upon ourselves? When will it end? We cannot overcome it on our own. Yet, here you are in the Eucharist, calling us back to sanity, flooding the world with your grace, while respecting our freedom to choose. That poor family is the result of countless choices made by many people, leading to this evil." Sometimes, all we can do is pray, for the Gordian Knot of our fallen humanity can only be united by grace. - BrMD
It is beyond our limited intellects to understand. We who have received mercy must plead for mercy for those who suffer so in Gaza!

It's amazing that the impetus for the creation of the State of Israel was the holocaust; yet look at what has been done to the people of Gaza the last year or so. The complicity of the Trump Administration grieves me, also. But then when I reflect on the lukewarmness of my own heart... It is important to thank God also for His many blessing! Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have Mercy!
