The Devil hates the Cross of Christ, His Precious Blood, His Holy Wounds, the Invocation of the Holy Trinity, The Sign of the Cross, and after the Triune God, hates most Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. Michael. That's what exorcists tell us. He also hates Latin, which some say was the tongue of the Angels. Good Fr. Gabriel Amorth used to say the devil hates being crushed by Mary even more than by Christ, as it humiliates his pride to the utmost, that he was defeated by a Woman and a mere Creature rather than the Creator. Have you ever had any encounters with evil? Do you often make the Sign of the Cross and use Holy Water? https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=95&v=U1RroGKv1zo "The Exorcism against Satan & the Apostate Angels in Latin & English The term exorcism does not always refer to a solemn and official prayer of the Church to free a person possessed by the Devil. In general, the term refers to a prayer that "curbs the power of the Devil and prevents him from doing harm." It is meant to protect us from the danger St. Peter described in Scriptures, Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, goes about seeking whom he may devour. (1 Pet. 5:8) The following prayer, issued by Pope Leo XIII on May 18th 1890, may be said either by a priest or a simple layman as any approved prayer. It should be recited standing. Its use is recommended whenever action of the Devil is suspected, spiritually or physically harming someone, causing violent temptations, storms or other calamities. Below, we post the complete text of the Exorcism, and after it, the so-called Short Exorcism, which is also known as the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Just a word of caution, some exorcism prayers are not to be prayed by the faithful. I did not read the above prayer so I am not sure if this is one that falls into that category, but some are to be prayed by exorcists only.
Good point. It is the long form of this prayer that we are not to pray. The one posted is the same we pray at the end of each mass.
I don’t remember if anyone has mentioned this before, but that date coincides with the inauguration Mass of Pope Leo XIV.
I also remembered his absence when I came across this topic. Another member who has been away for more than three years is @Richard67
