An incoming comet that some scientists say could potentially become the "comet of the century" later this year has captivated skywatchers around the world, and you can see live views of the comet today (May 12) in a Mother's Day webcast.
Comet ISON, first discovered in September 2012, is expected to be at its best and brightest in late November, but the online skywatching website Slooh Space Camera will offer live views of the comet in a 30-minute webcast beginning at 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT).
You can watch the Mother's Day Comet ISON webcast live on SPACE.com, courtesy of Slooh Space Camera. [See the latest amazing photos of Comet ISON]
The Slooh Space Camera, like SPACE.com, NASA and scientists around the world, has been tracking Comet ISON's progress as it makes its way into the inner solar system. Today's webcast isSlooh's third update on ISON in as many months.

As of mid-April, the comet was inside the orbit of Jupiter and closing on the sun. On April 10, the Hubble Space Telescope snapped photos of Comet ISON as when it was 386 million miles (621 million kilometers) from the sun and 394 million miles (634 million kilometers) from Earth.
Comet ISON has scientists buzzing because it could become one of the brightest comets in decades when it swings close by the sun on Nov. 28. During that close encounter, the comet will be just 730,000 miles (1.2 million km) from the sun's surface.
During today's webcast, Slooh officials will provide live views of Comet ISON using remotely operated telescopes in the Canary Islands, off the west coast of Africa. Slooh producer Paul Cox will host the webcast and will be joined by senior space scientist Padma Yanamandra-Fisher of the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colo., who is helping coordinate NASA's Comet ISON Observing Campaign to track the icy wanderer.
You can also follow the Slooh webcast directly using Slooh's iPad app or the Slooh website:http://www.slooh.com.

Comet ISON was first spotted by Russian amateur astronomers Artyom Novichonok and Vitali Nevski and is officially known as comet C/2012 S1 (ISON). Its nucleus is estimated to be about 3 miles (5 km) across and as of April the comet's dusty tail was an amazing 57,000 miles (92,000 km) long.
Comet ISON is not the only celestial treat in the sky for Mother's Day. Tonight, Jupiter will appear near the moon for skywatchers with clear weather.
Jupiter will appear as a bright light to the right of a slender crescent moon in the northwest night sky during the early evening hours. The moon is just three days past its "new" phase, so will be only 8 percent illuminated. Jupiter will be about 5 degrees to the right of the moon (your closed fist held at arm's length covers about 10 degrees of the night sky).
You can learn more on how to see Jupiter and the moon on Mother's Day here.

    MS7,

Happy Mother's Day! How do you keep up with all this stuff? Did you really have an apparition/s? Thanks

Ive been following this story with huge interest since its discovery last year. Sign after sign. Amazing whats pkaying out before our eyes. This could be a daylight comet and very very bright at night.

Silly side thought- I love the names of both comets
    "I Son " and "Love. joy "

This video seems to think ISON is made up of three objects, interesting, skip on to about 4-5 mis to see it.

I read a lot of different things on the warning and what not and so all the different things get muddled together. Do we know for a fact that the sign in the sky before the warning will be comets colliding to form a cross or is this just what MDM said? By the looks of this comet in the video it is clear that the middle object is indeed a comet but the 2 other streaks of light look like they could expand and intersect to truly from a cross in the sky.

I think Conchita said in a TV Interview that she believed the warning would be like two objects, like comets or stars colliding, not sure how certain she was about that though as she was in ecstacy. I think Glenn could clear this up much better than I can. I have thankfully very little exposure to MDM so can't compare to that, I hope I am not influenced by that, :( .

ISON may turn out to be nothing or it could be a small sign for us believer or maybe it could be the real thing, I guess we wait and see. Probably best to not create much of a fuss in case its nothing but nice to keep track of it all the same. ;)

Glenn did make several posts clarifying this on either the Garabandal News thread or the Dedicated Garabandal Resource thread. I'm sure he can help find them if you haven't already. I will try to paraphrase what I remember: that Conchita said there would be something seen in the sky first before we felt the Warning interiorly, and it would be like two stars or comets colliding (not sure if forming a cross was mentioned....don't think so). i think he also confirmed that she said there was a (scientific?) term that describes something of the celestial occurrence in the sky, and this term begins with the letter "A" in Spanish (like the Spanish term for Asteroid or Aurora).

But i think its best to check exactly what he posted on the forum here.

No cross just "like two stars colliding" There are a couple interviews where Conchita describes the event not sure if Glenn posed those links..here is a transcribed version:

Found this, thought it may interest some...

By now, it should be obvious to any respectable tomato farmer that ISON is none other than the Biblical Wormwood:

ISON was discovered is in Kislovodsk, Russia. Kislovodsk translates as "sour waters".

ISON was discovered by Vitaly Nevsky and Artyom Novichonokne.

Artyom is a name derived from Artemisios. Artemisia is a large, diverse genus of plants with between 200 and 400 species. Common names for various species in the genus include mugwort, wormwood, and sagebrush.

Usually comets are named after the discoverer. Why not this time? A little too obvious perhaps??

That is interesting Mac. And you are right on about how comets are named. This was named not by who but where it was discovered.

hmmm the name Artyom and its association to wormwood seems quite tenuous,

I agree Indy, it is a little tenuous.
