Even as a teenager, I was fascinated by the background to political events. It's a kind of hobby, nothing more. Nothing changes, regardless of whether I understand the context or not. And there's so much going on at the moment, it just ties up too many thoughts. That applies to me. I had actually planned to spend more time with spiritual things during Advent. I'll be doing that again from today. Luke 21 9 When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end. 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom." 11 There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky. 28 But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand. We are celebrating the arrival of our Saviour in a fortnight' time. I will try to focus more on that.

I think history shows that many, certainly not all, Jews have a particular animus against Christians. Examples are the Jewish rebellion of the second century, the Persian invasion of Palestine of the 7th, Bolshevism in Russia; in Bavaria; in Hungary, and the Jews also had a powerful influence upon the Young Turks movement that was primarily responsible, I believe, for the Armenian genocide. The slow Palestinian genocide also includes many Christians. It is probable their requirement for support from Christian Zionists has restrained them somewhat.
I know that logic doesn't matter to the West... The question arises, if the USA, the EU and Israel have been financing the Syrian Democratic Opposition against the evil dictator Assad, why is Israel now entering the territory of Syria with the army and creating a buffer zone? For whom, if the democrats who were financed for 15 years came to power? It means that first they are doing aggression against Syria, and secondly they are admitting how the terrorists were being financed the whole time. Another thing, they trained and brought terrorists to power now that Assad has fallen. Christians remained trapped and what is the West (Europe) doing now, after they let millions of undocumented Muslims from Syria, Afghanistan to Pakistan into Europe, now that Christians from Syria are threatened with persecution as well as those from Lebanon, they are closing the borders. All EU countries have now announced that they are no longer accepting "refugees" from Syria. At the same time, no one is bothered by illegal migrants from Africa and the rest of Asia, but right now they are "accidentally" closing the borders when the Christians have found themselves in a hopeless situation and are dependent on themselves and a little on the Russians.
Russia has a thriving economy and reportedly a labour shortage. Hopefully, the Syrian Christians might find refuge there. However, the EU is increasingly showing that it is a satanic institution.
Yes we must look to our Shepherd.we know His voice and He knows our hearts. We should not concern ourselves and obsess over what the media spits out.... We can point fingers and satisfy our itchy ears but our eyes and our hearts should be only on Him. He is our salvation.
Yes at Mass my friend, a Priest gave a sermon on how hard Jesus works for the 1 who is lost. He loves us as though we are the only person in the world... and He will fight for that 1 and leave the 99 to find us....

Such an encouraging homily. We should "fight" like that for all our loved ones. My brother Tim, in all his trials and struggles, never denounced the Faith. Even when he allowed Jehovah Witnesses a portion of time, he told them he would show respect for the Faith out of love for Mom and Dad. And I will always treasure the last time I was with him (he was semi-comatose), while praying the Rosary aloud for him at bedside shortly before he died, the Lord gave me a gift when Tim unexpectedly squeezed my hand. Hope 'til the end!

Zelensky also shamed Orban for calling Putin earlier, sarcastically saying he hoped he also wouldn't call Assad
He has put his actor skills to good use over the last few years, has imposed martial law, and has contributed to the death of over half-a-million Ukrainians. Sadly, a number of oligarchs (including him?) have siphoned off a bundle through BlackRock military monies flowing into the Ukraine war. I'm grieved by what has proved to be a senseless war which continues to be fruitlessly waged. I remember when peace terms had been virtually sealed in early 2023 and Biden sent Boris Johnson of Great Britain over to convince Zelensky to keep fighting. So, so grievously sad! Lord, let my heart not be embittered. Sin is often valed, but not in this case!
Speculation seems to be mounting that Erdogan is initiating a process of reviving the Ottoman Empire.
