Synodality and ecumenism require walking together, say cardinals By Carol Glatz Jan 18, 2022 |Catholic News Service Pope Francis speaks as Maltese Cardinal Mario Grech, secretary-general of the Synod of Bishops, looks on during a meeting with representatives of bishops’ conferences from around the world at the Vatican in this Oct. 9, 2021, file photo. Grech and Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, released a joint prayer that calls for the Catholic church to “walk together with all Christians” during the synod process. (Credit: Paul Haring/CNS.) ROME — All Christians are invited to pray for unity and continue to journey together, said Cardinals Mario Grech, general secretary of the Synod of the Bishops, and Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. Toward that end, the two offices came together to offer a prayer, which could be added to the other intentions during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Jan. 18-25 Inspired by the theme of this year’s Week of Prayer, “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him,” the prayer “offers a propitious occasion to pray with all Christians that the synod will proceed in an ecumenical spirit,” the two cardinals said in a joint news release Jan. 17. “Conscious of our need for the accompaniment and the many gifts of our brothers and sisters in Christ, we call on them to journey with us during these two years and we sincerely pray that Christ will lead us closer to him and so to one another,” they said. The prayer is: “Heavenly Father, as the Magi journeyed toward Bethlehem led by the star, so by your heavenly light, guide the Catholic Church to walk together with all Christians during this time of synod. As the Magi were united in their worship of Christ, lead us closer to your Son and so to one another, so that we become a sign of the unity that you desire for your church and the whole creation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.” Koch and Grech have been highlighting ways the local churches can implement an ecumenical dimension of the synodal process given that “synodality and ecumenism are processes of walking together,” they wrote in a joint letter dated Oct. 28, 2021, sent to bishops responsible for ecumenism within their episcopal conferences. The Catholic Church inaugurated a synodal process, titled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission” in October 2021. It will lead to a general assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2023. Because a synodal church is a church which listens, “this listening should concern the totality of those who are honored by the name of Christian, since all the baptized participate to some degree in the sensus fidei,” Grech and Koch wrote. Ecumenism is an “exchange of gifts” and “one of the gifts Catholics can receive from the other Christians is precisely their experience and understanding of synodality,” they added. Among the suggestions in the letter, the cardinals ask that dioceses reach out to the leaders of the main Christian communities in their area, inform them about the synodal process, invite them to appoint delegates to participate in the pre-synodal diocesan meetings and possibly to address the diocesan synodal assembly, organize listening sessions, and encourage them to send written reflections on the questionnaire included in the preparatory document. https://www.ncronline.org/news/peop...menism-require-walking-together-say-cardinals
this news caught my attention because it seems that the Synod will invite people from other Churches to participate, will there be some kind of ecumenical liturgy that will invalidate the Holy Mass?
Well that’s part of the scheme of the new world order isn’t it? A one world religion….? Maybe Pacha mamma will be the new idol…? But “who am I to judge…? “
Regarding the Synod, in our Catholic newspaper for the diocese I live in (Nashville, TN) the report for Parishes states, “Does our parish engage in dialogue with non-Catholic Christians and/or those of other faith traditions in order to promote the common good? How can the parish improve interfaith and inter-religious communications? The synod process also includes A SURVEY THAT IS OPEN TO BOTH CATHOLICS AND NON-CATHOLICS.” It goes on to talk about seeking the “common good” with other religions. My question is this, what is the common good? Please ponder what this is saying. It makes my heart sink! I remember what Our Blessed Mother told Fr. Gobbi back in 1992 #485 MMP, “By accepting the Protestant doctrine , people will hold that the Mass is not a sacrifice, but only a sacred meal, that is to say, a remembrance of that which Jesus did at His Last Supper. And thus, the celebration of Holy Mass will be suppressed. (Read Dn 12:9-12 and Mt. 24:15). We are seeing this happen before our very eyes! Pray much for our Holy Catholic Church, for our Pope, Bishops and Priests. I believe one day Pope Francis will be sorry that he decided to leave decisions regarding the Church to the Bishops instead of he himself leading according to the Will of God and will repent of his error, but it will be too late. Many years ago, perhaps a year or two after coming into the Catholic Church, I was once shown a vision of a large deep cliff and what I knew were many Priests walking around with their heads down, most of them coming to the edge of the cliff without seeing where they were walking, and I knew that there were many about to fall without even knowing it and my heart sank every time one would come near. This vision has caused me to pray much for our Priests, to pray many Rosaries, to adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament as much as possible, and go to daily Mass instead of just Mass on Sundays. If you could have seen this vision, you would have been brought to tears. With all this said, we have great hope for the future when Jesus will bring His Kingdom on earth, and He will reign in all hearts. So, pray much dear friends! God bless you.
It is fascinating to me that upon my family's move from Syracuse up to Pulaski almost 22 years ago, we reconnected with Protestant relatives on my Mom's side of the family. Keith, his wife Donna, and their children are from an evangelical, Wesleyan background, but like us they home-schooled their children. In considering resources for Bible studies, and given my love for 1Peter, I briefly attended a men's bible study at Keith's church that focused on that epistle. It wasn't disruptive to my schedule since it ran from 6am-7:15am on Wednesday mornings and was just a 5-minute drive from home. I did this for about 5 sessions; at that point they had made it into Chapter 2. The fellowship among the group was warm and most insights had no anti-Catholic flavor to them. Even so, they didn't quite know what to make of me. But in the casual conversations preceding the study, they expressed concern over our societal situation. For the most part, I believe the difficult situation we find ourselves within the Church, has elevated the latent anti-Catholicism that is present within Evangelicals like Kieth, which in turn will show up in any prophetic-type messages and warnings which they deliver. In a real sense, we are all heavily conditioned and gravitate to news that reinforce our own worldview. Let us root ourselves as deeply as we can in the Two Hearts and the Sacramental Life of the Church. The King of Kings remains on His Throne. And the Holy Spirit will surely point out the path each of us must follow, even if it not be exactly the same as others whom we love. Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

Thank you Jason for posting this! It is probably the most comprehensive analysis of the Covid cabal that I’ve seen to date. It is a evidence based article that demonstrates and catalogues the horrendous effects of Covid and the immoral political consequences relative to the government and the church. Many may not want to acknowledge the truths there in, but we must open our eyes and not reject these truths because of any protective biases. Leaders in the church are not beyond reproach and need to be exposed if we are to salvage any credibility in the Catholic Church going forward. This article is fact based and long overdue.
Very interesting article about how at the beginning of the Second Vatican Council, a schema “On Chastity, Marriage, the Family and Virginity” was rejected and, with it, a cornerstone of the moral law. https://voiceofthefamily.com/vatica...-that-should-have-never-been-rejected-part-i/ https://voiceofthefamily.com/vatica...that-should-have-never-been-rejected-part-ii/
Unfortunately, modernism has infected the Church like a cancerous growth -- The crisis is of enormous proportions similar to the Arian heresy of the fourth century. But those devoted to our Lady will be safe in her refuge as she is destroyer of all heresies. Marian devotion will save the Church because she has been assembling a Blue Army for these times.

Man shouts, 'God rejects you!' At Pope Francis in public audience. (no it wasn't me. ) (The Pope wrote him off as a nutter).
My childhood (age 6 to 18) Protestant church, probably the entire denomination, used to be a solid bedrock of The Gospel. Now? The pulpit is gone. The Scriptural passage done in polished wooden letters affixed to the north wall is covered by a projection screen ("Holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, forever"). The altar rails aside the little altar (where people could kneel to pray, cry, repent) are gone. And most recently the altar (pictured here in its original place) is now moved UP and is situated between guitars and drums. Guitars and drums, because the choir pews / choir are gone. In childhood, the pastors were dressed to the nine's in three piece suit and tie, polished shoes, etc. They stood the entire service as well. Their current pastor wears sneakers and blue jeans, and sits. I remember warnings of "the great falling away" ... but it was so often, and I was so young, I figured it was a bunch of old fogeys scared to death of everything, WANTING to be scared to death of everything. Not funny, but yeah. I was a kid / teen! I'm still coming to terms with now SEEING this unfolding in REAL TIME.
I have been certain for a very long time that devotion to Our Lady and daily Rosaries are the golden chains that bind us to her Immaculate Heart and to the Truth and she helps us discern. She is Our Lady of Good Counsel and Seat of Wisdom. No one gets through this without her IMHO.
I didn't know that Protestants had such a tradition, 'The Great Falling away'. But of course it is scriptural..St Paul to the Thessalonians. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 The Great Apostasy 2 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of a]' data-fn="#fen-NKJV-29664a">[a]Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of b]' data-fn="#fen-NKJV-29665b">[b]sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits c]' data-fn="#fen-NKJV-29666c">[c]as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the d]' data-fn="#fen-NKJV-29669d">[d]mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only e]' data-fn="#fen-NKJV-29669e">[e]He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Having compassion on sinners means we minister to physical, material, and spiritual needs. They are summarized in the Corporal works of Mercy: to feed the hungry, to give drink to the thirsty, to clothe the naked, to give shelter to travelers, to visit the sick, to visit the imprisoned, and to bury the dead; and the seven Spiritual Works of Mercy: To instruct the ignorant. (This work of mercy means all of us are called to share and teach the faith passed on to us), to counsel the doubtful, to admonish the sinner, to bear wrongs patiently, to forgive offenses willingly, to comfort the afflicted, to pray for the living and the dead. We admonish the sinner who has separated himself from the grace of God by mortal sin because he is no longer joined to the Vine! All I can think of are the words of Jesus: Mark 1:14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel."
