A shattered legacy. Future generations will look back in horror. The decline of western civilzation in the 21st century darkened by a culture of death and perversion. And Pope Francis' priority was to wipe out the TLM that gave us Western civilization.
Eloquent Purple Flower. You have given me much to think about and pray on. I do not trust myself in this any more than I would trust myself to discern an apparition. The light grows dimmer and the thorns grow thicker. Our Lady Star of the Sea help us to get safely home to the harbour.
Amen Padraig. Well said. I too have to switch off. On so many things. Secular and spiritual. I begin to understand those who go off to hermitages. What a grace and a gift.
It might seem a little bit of topic but I am reading a really wonderful little book at the moment on Our Lady.. (You can listen too on utube if you like).
Anyhow I have gotten up to her age of 13 and a half and God the Father tells her He wants her to marry and Mary is not really into the notion having given a Vow of Perpetual Virginity. God does not explain Himself at first but tells her to go ahead and do it anyway. The great thing that strikes me about the life of Mary since she entered the Temple as a very young child ( I think she was three years old) was what a very, very hard time of it she had. For instance intense bullying and even been beaten by the other girls who were stirred up by Satan. Mary had made a constant Sacrifice of herself as soon as she joined the Temple. Her way was the way of the Cross. She knew this. She embraced this. She wanted this. It has been said of her in later life that the thought of her Son's Impending Death was never away from her mind and heart. Her life was truly lived with her lying on the Cross at every single second. It seems to me that , yes, the troubles in the Church and with our present Holy Father (who, let's face it is a gigantic pain in the ass) should be accepted with the serenity and peace that Mary showed when she met time after time the totally huge pain in the Asses that she met time after time (including for instance Judas). All of this is for our Sanctification .
I am still reading the book and have just finished a description of Saint Joseph which is quite wonderful. Apparently Joseph came from a large well off family and had several brothers. His parents were not particularly religious and his brothers hated Joe for not going along with their get far in life philosophy. This reminds me of Joseph being sold into slavery in Egypt. Saint Joseph took the path of poverty of becoming a simple carpenter. The descriptions of the physical and Spiritual Beauty of Mary and Joseph are so very touching. Beauty walking. Also a lovely description of the Arcangel Gabriel at the Annunciation. I hope to be reading the description of Mary at the Nativity as Christmas time.
