Wow, when I was a teen I came up with a motto for myself: "Life is hard, but it is good." I used to say it to myself when I was struggling taking care of my little siblings and dealing with a lot of stress. It was neat to see you say it and remember my "motto."
Mark, I'm praying for you and am glad to see a burden was lifted for you today. I've been struggling quite a bit myself...God has seen fit to withhold consolation from me for a while but I was fortunate to make it to confession today. I was hoping to hear some words of advice that would help me battle away this cloud hanging over my head, but God didn't give me anything different from the usual. Funnily, I took it as a good sign...a confirmation that I'm where I'm supposed to be and God will see me through it in His own good timing. I think sometimes He lets us feel alone in our mess because the fighting in the dark does things spiritually in our souls we can't really understand yet. Perhaps later in the light we'll see better. I will send prayer support for you. Please say a prayer for me too!
Yes, fighting in the dark does things spiritually in our souls that we can’t understand. Well said! “Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil, because Thou art with me.” “Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me.” Ps 23
I will storm heaven for you. I also suffer in this way and have been in the same condition. I ask St Dymphna, patron of people who suffer from anxiety depression and all disorders to help you. She has helped me. St Dymphna please pray for us!!!!! ❤ please know that you arent alone
Continued prayers, Mark. Please try to persevere. All of our crosses are of a different nature, which God permits for the salvation and sanctification of each individual soul. But all of us do carry crosses. The unseen crosses of the mind are some of the most difficult, but offered up freely, can be the greatest redemptive sacrifices one can make.
Please, grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, St Dymphna, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially those for whom we pray. We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St Dymphna on our behalf.
...I just read each and every additional comment. I thank "each" of you for them, and prayers, as well as pointing me in the direction of St Dymphna. As for potentially being autistic, I really have no idea. I looked it up, and I personally don't see myself as being symptomatic of that, but who knows. Depression, anxiety, tremendous homesickness (which I call agoraphobia, but there might be a better term) and a severe tendency to dwell on the negative (ocd?), all make for one big 56 year old mess. Again, I read each and every comment, along with who typed it, and am grateful to all of you for your time and prayers. I pray for each one of you, and your intentions. The priest did lift a burden, but I remain overwhelmed by the usual things that weigh on me. So thank you, thank you thank you for your prayers!!!!
Prayers going up. Go to Mary. Throw yourself at her feet, physically and spiritually. Take me under your mantle Mother. Take care of everything. Mary Immaculate, you have given yourself to us as Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. You have asked us to pray with confidence, and we will receive great graces. We know your compassion, because you saw your Son suffer and die for us. In your union with his suffering you became the mother of us all. Mary, my mother teach me to understand my suffering as you do and to endure it in union with the suffering of Jesus. In your motherly love, calm my fears and increase my trust in God's loving care. According to God's plan, obtain for me the healing I need. Intercede with your Son that I may have the strength I need to work for God's glory and the salvation of the world. Amen.
Dear Mark, I'm just catching up here but I will now include you in my prayers. When the going is hard just visualise moving one step at a time. God will see your efforts and He will lift you up. Blessings
Hello Mark. Just catching up on reading posts. I will pray especially for your intentions tomorrow at Holy Hour and I will offer up my Mass and Holy Communion for you as well.
You sound like me Mark. God lifts the burden yet in our humanness we can continue to suffer. When it becomes too much, I crawl under Our Lady's mantle and ask her to mother me. As Blizzard states above. A wonderful alleviating prayer to pray is the memorare. I think it was St Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who said to pray it 9 times as a petition and and an extra one in thanksgiving. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
