These two posts are for me the absolute beauty and strength of this Forum. Many years back, I heard it described as “Mary’s livingroom”. It’s a place where we all can come as “family” (and yes this includes our arguing, bickering and fighting) but in the end it’s truly about love and caring of each other here even though it’s on line. There’s a real sense of community here. Very grateful for this place and to all the members including those that don’t “speak” much. As AED alluded above, this place despite all the troubles we encounter reminds us and brings us to Christian joy- the knowledge that Christ conquered sin and death. Peace

This may have been noted already. The full name of the island is San Miguel de La Palma - St. Michael of La Palma.

Yes, volcanoes can seemingly go dormant and keep coming back in a cycle for years. We just do not know. I read where Krakatoa lasted a year.

Wow. When did the eruption begin? Wasn't that date also significant?

I can relate to so much of this... The realization that nothing really feels like joy anymore (except Mass!) but then remembering what Mary had to endure watching Jesus grow... Knowing He would be rejected and killed and swords would pierce her heart. It brings me to tears every time I think of it, because I have small sweet children and look at them and can't even imagine the horror of knowing they would be brutally murdered before my eyes by the very people they love with such vulnerability. There's no way Mary could look at baby/toddler/child Jesus and not feel her heart lurch at what was coming for Him. How many times she must have cried! And yet she loves us more than our own mothers do! She loved the ones who tortured and killed her Son! So I'm reminded again and again that we must be brave and bear our sufferings and what may come, even with love for the very people pulling our loved ones away from the faith and changing our world for the worse. We must somehow still love our enemies and find joy amidst the sorrow. Mary can help us!

Late last night, the lava flow reached the sea.
As the eruption continues to effuse lava at steady rate, the most advanced lava flow made rapid advance it seems during yesterday. It looks that it traveled approx. 1 km, passing north of the cinder cone of Montana Todoque to arrive and descend at the sea cliff at Playa Nueva.
The nearby coastal areas have been evacuated as the sea entry can generate acid clouds of hot steam and there is always risk of collapse of the material at the newly formed lava beach bench.

As of this morning I can find no viable source to confirm any Tsunami alert...unfortunately social media fake news is a real burden :rolleyes:

A few more earthquakes to 3.0m but nothing more than that...

I will update with anything I find out..
