Alert: Volcano eruption in La Palma could result in mega-tsunami

It's more than just poisonous gases (like Sulphur dioxide). When the lava hits the water, it will cool explosively. This will create many, many small crystals of volcanic material. These crystals are incredibly sharp; if you were to breathe in the steam your lungs would be sliced from all the crystals. You would drown in your blood and nothing would be able to save you.

 

You know how I described it to the Lord as I was apologizing? I said "I feel like I am shot through with novocaine." The next day I seemed to get a rush of grace and was able to get to Confession. Today I am fighting to hold on to the joy.

Nobody seems willing to estimate the time. Bushcraft Bear uploaded a video two hours ago and the lava stream seemed very close to the ocean. It's a very short video:

 

No estimates, because it's not a constant flow. The lava will hit an obstruction, and while some may go around the obstruction (if possible) the bulk of it will pile up behind it. Eventually (maybe) the flow will rise up and either move around this new mound or will start flowing over it, and the progression downhill to the sea will continue.

 

If he doesn't already, he needs to collect important papers (birth certs, mortgages, etc.) and put them in a "go-bag" that someone can grab on their way out of the house. Doesn't matter if it's a tsunami or a housefire, have those papers at the ready.

I don't know anything at all much about volcano's and Earthquakes anymore than I do about viruses. However there is a German Bush Crafter I follow who lives on the island and loves to post on utube. I love to listen to him because he is on the ground, looks like one of the Three Musketeers and sounds so quaint.

Anyway something he mentioned the other day gave me the chills. He happened to look at the ground and noticed it was full of cracks.Including the road itself. This seems very, very ominous to me.

 

Here's a local news report. It's in Spanish but if you enable subtitles and choose auto translate you can get the gist of it. They liken this eruption to the last one when it took sixteen days for the lava to reach the ocean. The result was poisonous gases and the solidified lava adding to the land mass. The also show how life on the far side of the island continues almost as normal, including the arrival of tourists.

 

This is the cross before you Brian and potentially before us all with young families. It's the dilemma of the age. What Catholic wants to see the old "normal" perpetuate ad infinitum? The so called new normal is effectively the advancement of the kingdom of satan on the one and on the other a step toward his defeat. We are at a crossroads, all we can do is hope and keep our eyes fixed on the Lord.
