Yes, they cleared everything out a week ago.

I think Malachi's whistling past the graveyard. The Titanic bit the dust, so a kayak..!

"To Hell with everyone else implies he's safe as houses...in a kayak! Not that he can squeeze to many others on it with him.

Nope. The kayak is strictly solo. At least the ones we have. My husband is very tall and several years ago he was trying to disembark and couldn't get out without going under. He was literally stuck by his long legs. Some kindly teenagers came to his assistance.:) I was never a fan of kayaks. Canoe is more my speed.

Be better to die in your sleep than trying to escape what you know is coming. Better, hopefully, Purgatory or Heaven than Hell on Earth.

That, presumably, is what was meant by the living envying the dead.

Massive, more liquid lava eruption going on right now.

Something to consider - does the huge weight of this massive build up of lava above ground increase the weight on the fissured shelf of the island and further increase risk of a landslide? I honestly don’t know.

I know so little of them, I thought they were the same thing. But I could drown in my bath!

A kayak is designed to be almost one with the water. You slide in to this little hole in the center so only your upper body is free. Very claustrophobic. A canoe gives you a lot more freedom of movement to bail out if you need to. Kayaking is a big sport around here.

I cannot imagine the desperation and near despair. Destruction of this sort is not undone in a year or even 10 years. They may never get back. Tragic.

Thank you. I just bared my soul to him and challenged him plainly but with charity. I'm waiting on his response but expect he'll probably take a while to chew on it first.

Sometimes I'm not sure how God wants me to deal with those close to me concerning matters of Faith.. But somehow, personality-wise, I end up challenging others as I do myself, which can be pretty uncomfortable. And every one of my family members, including my husband especially, ends up thanking me later for the challenge. So my hope is that God made me a certain way and uses it for His purposes. Because I often feel I have no idea what I'm doing. At the very least, every person in my family (and my friends) knows I love and will fight for their soul till my dying breath. So they know they are loved.

Malachi, if the worst happens we'll be between a rock and a hard place. Running to higher ground might be a waste of effort but knowing a tsunami is coming and making no attempt to escape might border on the suicidal. We should pray but we can pray and run at the same time.

When I mention the tsunami to my family they roll their eyes, thinking I have a screw loose. I tell them that once my car is packed with duvet, pillow tins of beans, peas and salmon and a bottle of water, I won't be hanging around waiting for them to get their stuff together.

Wow. Incredible testimony! Christ said to Peter “do you love me”. The third time he asked was the Greek “agape”. It means love when it may not be returned. PF - you are “agapining “. It’s a a great grace. Peace

You're doing the best you can PF, you are a wonderful example for your family. I think your brother is struggling spiritually, and feeling overwhelmed. I bet he'll come around, give him time. Prayers going up for you.

I am praying for your brother. I go to Adoration often and he is in my prayer there.

Thank you all so much for your prayers for my brother. He ended up baring his soul back to me and we came to a very good understanding. He says he will continue going to Mass while waiting for God to make Himself known... He feels like there's always some kind of block when he tries to get close to God, like it's not "his time" yet or something. So yes, that sounds frustrating! I can see why he starts and stops.

Perhaps point out the Eucharistic Miracles of Lanciano and Legnica, which I both had the blessing of reading into and visiting. Or the miracle of Fatima of 1917, with books such as 'meet the witnesses' that helped convert me 11 years ago.

You brother is in the perfect place - when you are weak your are strong. God has him covered.
