So relieved that you said this. I know nothing about these things, but I did think that some brave soul could take over the forum for Padraig... we'll just have to go undercover.
I bring all members of the MOG to my weekly holy hour and try to keep all souls in my prayers I will say that after reading all that is happening in Ireland I try to do a special plug for those MOG members there
Yes things are bad everywhere. In my parish we have had a very holy priest for 25 years. He retired as Parish priest a few years back and we got a new PP of a more modern outlook. The old priest continued to work as curate and I always loved to attend his Mass as he was very pious and gave lovely sermons. He became a bit forgetful and slowed up in the past year or two but still said a beautiful Mass and was available every Saturday in the confession box. He had a fall, not serious but he has now been incarcerated in a nursing home. He has contacted us and asked us to help him but from what I can ascertain the new PP doesn't want him back. The Bishop isn't available. It's just terrible. I'm so upset. Sorry Padraig for hijacking this thread but it shows how much faithful priests are suffering. We can't go in to see him because we are not vaccinated. Please say a prayer for this priest, Fr James
I don't know if it will help Mary , but I was praying lately about my retirement and I was planning to retire to Italy , rather than Spain, to a lovely area with Mountains and sea just east of Rome were I intend to but a house in the country, . in a Region called Abruzzo. I would love it if the Father would care to join me there , it would be a huge blessing to have a priest, especially such a holy one. It is not for about two and a half years, but at least it would give him hope. Abruzzo is drop dead gorgeous, they even have wolves and bears. So remote and very cheap to live in. Part of it is only 3o km from Rome. Anyway let me know Very, very old fashioned Catholic too, I suspect the father would be treated like a king A little rustic maybe but it would not take too long to fix up an old house.
THank you again so much for all your prayers. I can feel the good effects already, I feel like I have jsut grown wings.
Sad situation Maryrose. Poor Fr. James, he must feel so isolated in that nursing home. Prayers going up for his recovery, and return to his Parish.
Padraig That sounds amazing but I don't think he would leave Ireland at this point in his life. He has no immediate family and the situation is ongoing. I'd love to retire to Italy myself, all that beautiful weather and countryside but I have a station here to hold for now. The world is on fire. We must travel on the inward journey.
I have very good news our elderly holy priest is coming back to our parish. I was heartbroken about him and I opened the 'Blue Book' of Our Lady 's messages and I read' abandon everything to me ' so I put it in her hands and prayed every day to her for him. Thank you Holy Mother.
What great news. I went to confession yesterday and heard the poor priest let out a big sigh as I went out the door. I heard him doing this the last two times I went o him. I don't think it was me that left him that way...at least I hope not! I always thank him and tell him I pray for him. He is very Holy, but that makes him all the more a target. Prayers for priests. I came across this from a Parish near me, which is interesting. Perhaps a sign of hope? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-57247517
