St. Gianna Molla passed from this earthly life not that long ago, 1962. I was not familiar with her and found her story at Aletia along with some others for Mother's Day. Additionally, there is at least one church named for her in the US. Links below and excerpt from the Aletia story:

"St. Gianna Molla (1922-1962) was an Italian doctor who married at almost 33 with hopes of having a large family. By their fourth anniversary, Gianna and her husband Pietro had three small children. But Gianna lost her fourth and fifth children to miscarriage; each time she was disconsolate, worried about the fate of her babies’ souls and begging her friends to pray for them. When she became pregnant again and doctors found a tumor in her uterus, Gianna was ready to do whatever was necessary to save her baby, reminding Pietro, “If you must decide between me and the child, do not hesitate: choose the child—I insist on it. Save her.” The baby was born healthy but Gianna died of complications a week later."

I am a male, so, a lot of stories on pregnancy, etc. I "don't get" well but perhaps others understand it better. I was not too aware of her. St. Gianna pray for us... it appears Father Z. has a recent posting on her as well, wow! I will definitely have to pray for her intercession and help:

I love St. Gianna! I read her letters to her husband and a story of her life while I was dating my now husband, and found her very inspiring. I prayed to her during my miscarriages and years of infertility.
