    There will be riots.

Maxine Waters is inciting violence ahead of tomorrow.

A step-nephew by marriage resides DIRECTLY in that area.

My husband's sister MIGHT currently be in Dallas, Texas.

Prayers for all who will be in danger. :(

We are just south of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. I’m glad we are out in the country....it could spill over into the suburbs.

  5. I grew up in Mpls about 3 miles from where George Floyd died.

Still live close...the night Mpls burned I could see and smell the smoke.

I had to maneuver my work vehicle around a car full of protesters who tried to block me in with thier car last summer.

I went to Catholic school with several Mpls police, decent brave guys.

Most of my family lives here, several in the city.

Innocent people will likely die at the end of this trial.

Praying that Mary surrounds our entire area with her mantle.

"Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more? Let nothing else worry you, disturb you."

I live not too far from where the female officer's home is located here in northwest metro of Minneapolis, MN. Officer Kimberly Potter's house is surrounded with cement barricades and tall wire fence with security people and police guarding it. Some protesters have gathered there. Curfews were set up in that suburban city for several nights in a row. Officer Potter and her family are not currently residing in their home; they moved away temporarily to a safer, unknown location elsewhere. One of my rosary prayer group members told me that Officer Potter did graduated from at the Totino-Grace Catholic high school not far from here, too. (Not sure what is the exact year that she graduated though.) Some of the surrounding stores nearby me had boarded up their windows & doors. I used to lived near Brooklyn Center, MN during my college years and my ex-husband's childhood home was in Brooklyn Center, MN also. My ex-husband and I were married in the St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Brooklyn Center, MN back in year 1988. Just so close to "home" for me. So sad to see all these changes/chaos around here happening. First, the D. Chauvin (Floyd) trial ...and now, in the not too distant future, the K. Potter (D. Wright) trial. Prayers needed for all here in the affected metropolis areas and for Mamma Mary surround us all with her mantle.

no way will he be acquitted. I watched the highlights of the trial every day. He may get a lesser charge, manslaughter which will still incite riots, I am sure.

My sister-in-law lives near downtown Minneapolis. She hid in her basement last summer when police broke up a riot and the rioters ran into her residential street and started setting fires. She's scared of going out now.

I actually wish the Judge in this case would declare a mistrial because of Maxine Waters.

Let her face the consequences. :coffee:

Dear Catherine as a result of your post I feel a need to clarify a certain point. I stress that I am posting this without any prejudice or blame attached. As a Catholic, one cannot have an "ex" spouse. Even if divorced, the sacrament of marriage is binding until the death of one of the parties. An annulment signifies that a marriage has never occurred in the opinion of the church so again there is no "ex" spouse. Unfortunately my wife and I are estranged these ten years, she has chosen to have other relationships but I will not as sex outside of marriage is a sin. I am a man in my fifties and it is a sacrifice not having a partner as comfort but as a member of the Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church I do not have permission to chose which laws I obey

Not surprising in the least. :(

The former home of a witness for the defendant was attacked with pig blood (in a different report a pig's head was also left). I pray the current resident(s) of the witness' former home will be safe from further attack.

Glad we still live in the same home since 1994, in this day and age!

Now Biden is stirring the pot

Biden says the evidence is 'overwhelming' in Derek Chauvin's trial and is 'praying for the right verdict' after he called George Floyd's family

    Daily Mail ^ | April 20, 2021 | Emily Goodin, Nikki Schwab

President Joe Biden on Tuesday said he is praying for the 'right verdict' in George Floyd trial and called the evidence 'overwhelming.'

'I'm praying the verdict is the right verdict. Which is – I think it's overwhelming in my view,' Biden told reporters in the Oval office. 'I wouldn’t say that unless the jury was sequestered now.'

Biden called Floyd's brother Philonise on Monday after the jury went behind closed doors for their deliberations deliberations on the charges of murder and manslaughter against Chauvin.

'I waited until the jury was sequestered and I called,' he said. 'I've come to know George's family,' Biden noted as he said he 'can only imagine the pressure and anxiety they're feeling.'

Biden has denounced Floyd's death but had stopped short of weighing in on the trial until now. His extraordinary comments come as the 12-member jury began its second day behind closed doors and the nation waits for their decision.

Philonise Floyd said Biden, who has buried a wife and two children, spoke to him about what it's like to lose a family member. "He was just calling. He knows how it is to lose a family member. And he knows that the process of what we're going through so he was just letting us know that he was praying for us, and hoping that everything would come out to be okay,' Philonise told NBC's Today on Tuesday morning.

Floyd said he is 'optimistic' about the coming verdict in his brother's murder trial. 'Hopefully it will be the way the world wants to see it,' he noted. He also expressed his hope for peace when the trial ends.

    And Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

It seems in response to the Judge's criticism of Maxine Waters.

I wish he would declare a mistrial.

    Prayers for Chauvin's family.

At this point, I'm praying for Chauvin too. I have my opinion on this matter, but COURT JUSTICE is supposed to prevail. What Waters, Biden, Frey, or myself think SHOULD NOT MATTER.

Well, the latest is that the verdict is in. It will be announced within 90 minutes. That's from the NY Times twitter account.

    Prayers for Minneapolis residents!
