I have spent a long time reading this. The dogma of indeffectibillity seems to imply that every true pope has never failing faith. But it cannot be a doctrine that the Church always knows who is the true pope, taking the life of Saint Bernard as an example, who exposed an antipope who was accepted peacefully by Romans and cardinals. A pretender does not enjoy these Petrine graces. I can’t claim certainty here, but there may be some reason to suppose Benedict’s resignation could have been invalid. If so, he does indeed appear to be in a monastery in the Vatican having Pope Francis’s protection, and needs his permission to go out in public. He seems to dress like a pope and is alive despite resigning for health reasons. I only claim this as a possibility, not a certainty. if so, a council to judge this is needed ASAP.

I know he is no fan of Pope Francis, but Dr. Taylor does raise many interesting points. In all his podcast.
One thing I do love about Dr Marshall is that he logically traces his steps to a particular position. So he moves us along with him from A to B. So Thomist. This too in regards to the Holy Father. In other words he had good reasons as to why he adopts particular positions or opinions he has in regards to the Holy Father and other matters. In other words he does not run of at the mouth. Also I have found him totally Orthodox and Devout.. As to his podcasts, well he does go on and on forever. Who has the time? But that one on the new Vatican Coins I did take in totally, brilliant. I have no camper and no work these days so I have loads and loads of time to pay attention which I am finding a great blessing. Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. As far as the Holy Father himself is concerned I am inclined to put him on the back burner. To be honest I have given up on him apart from prayer. He upsets me too much. I hear he used to send his fellow Jesuits in Argentina wild. I can see why.

I'm reminded of a comment by a priest who was in Argentina when he was out of favour with his superiors. Something to the effect that it wasn't so much Fr. Bergoglio who was disruptive but the people surrounding him. Leopards don't change their spots. Dr. Marshall must be getting on the nerves of a few members of the US hierarchy. Do you ever read the posts on the Catholic Answers forum? I do. After a while of reading the threads, you can see a pattern. It's Taylor Marshall's turn to be pulled asunder now, all, of course, in the most charitable, Christian manner. It's always the same band of people "loyal to the Magisterium" Catholics, especially loyal to Pope Francis, backed up by a smattering of non-Catholics including fallen away Catholics, agnostics and atheists. Nobody who so much as steps out of lockstep with the inner circle is spared the treatment. Taylor Marshall is the latest to come under the hammer. You might not realise it, Padraig, but you can't be well read, understand the finer points of the Faith, or maybe you are just plain stupid if you think he is pointing out real problems. All the best Catholics would have you believe that they are not matters to concern an ignorant pew sitter like you. And you're certainly not a good Catholic, perhaps in danger of falling into sede vacantism, if you can't see the Holy Spirt at work in the pachamama circus and all the other performances we Catholics have been subjected to since 2013. In a way, we're fortunate that this is a small forum. While I'm no fan of the tech giants and their thought police, I think the axe of mercy would be a more likely threat were this a bigger forum. Doesn't Bishop Barron have a yen to police the Catholic online presence? And he isn't the first to come up with that suggestion. Didn't someone have a list of naughty and nice Catholic websites? I can't remember who that was but he was flavour of the month for a while and then dropped off the scene for doing something or other which showed him in a bad light. Could it be that the list was actually Bishop Barron's all along? Who knows - nothing would surprise me these days. People like Taylor Marshall get a raw deal from the tech giants' thought police. Given how cosy the Catholic movers and shakers in the US are with the democratic party, it wouldn't surprise me if some of them also had connections with the rest of that party's enforcers.
Sadly there are connections between social gospel Catholics and democrats. And they are very vocal and sanctimonious.. Amy Cony Barrett alarms them! The Catholics who you speak of "singing kumbaya " and believing pachamama is the work of the Holy Spirit remind me of Jesus's words in scripture. "It will be as it was in the days of Noah....and the Flood came and took them all away."
Sedevacantism is a very temptation option when you acknowledge the apperant apostasy from the top, from the man considered pope by all. I think because he's pope the hierarchy is silent. Upon the pope the Church will never fail, or Jesus is not God. If it wasn't the pope eading the apostasy, it would be stopped. But sedevacantism has several logical errors. But Benedict is still in the Vatican. Though it is beyond my ken to know how, the faithful cardinals and bishops should call a council to investigate who is pope.
I think that might have been a reference to the Final Judgement. We will all know then, but I wouldn't be optimistic that we will know before. In the last big Vatican financial scandal, people were 'suicided', if I remember correctly. That sort of thing, and the threat of it, tends to keep secrets well concealed. It also reminds us that corruption in the Vatican didn't just begin recently.
I was the exact same. Then the Abbot told me i needed Psychological help and when I asked him why he said, 'You pray far too much!' .. this to a young monk. A Monastery of course is a school for prayer and I was being told that I prayed too much! I told this to my Spiritual Director and his jaw dropped open. Certain events make us wake up and smell the coffee
It's likely going to be a dilemma for all of us. It is one thing to obey good authority, quite another when that authority becomes corrupt. I thought Bishop Barron was sound until I read a biography of Aquinas he had written, in which he repeatedly referred to God in the feminine. I doubt St. Thomas would agree. If Barron, or some other notable, demands we pray the 'Our Mother', will we obey?
Apparently Pope St John Paul seriously thought of doing away with them altogether for serious serial disobedience. and only the intervention of heavy weights like Karl Rahner stopped it. A great,great pity. He should have jumped on them with both feet.
