Pray for my Mormon friend

Discussion in 'Prayer requests' started by non sum dignus, Oct 13, 2020.

  1. We are friends with a Mormon family.

She (the mom) is in the next room visiting with my wife as I post.

They are wonderful moral people. She was adopted as a newborn. Her birth mother was Catholic.

I feel called to pray for her and her family's conversion.

Please pray with me a Hail Mary.

  5. Thank you!

We have known them through our kids for years.

Mormons have tight knit friend groups. They are very involved and committed. They rarely meet families that are moral the way they are outside their Morman group, so conversions are rare.

But here have been signs. The husband tried to enter a Catholic church once to "see what this Catholic thing is all about ". When I heard her birth mom (that she met as an adult) was Catholic, I felt that she has been deprived of the Sacraments at no fault of her own.

    Thanks so much for praying.

If they ever convert I will update this thread.

Will continue. Too bad the birth mom didn’t stipulate that she wanted her daughter baptized Catholic before the adoption placement to a Catholic family.
I know that in the old days, at least, Catholic Charities would do that.

  7. She is at least 45.
It was a Catholic adoption agency.

Her adopted parents are fine Mormon people. But I am just sad they do not have the fullness of truth.

  10. Raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, our Prime Minister, left the church in 2005 because, she said, it conflicted with her personal views, in particular her support for gay rights. In January 2017, Jacinda identified as "agnostic". Sadly she
    supports abortion rights, assisted dying
(euthanasia) and homosexual union, women's rights to contraception and divorce. Her parents are very pleasant good people committed to their Mormon Faith. When I first came to New Zealand they were known to me. You could not meet nicer people. May Jacinta of Fatima pray for our Jacinda and her family.

  15. Yes I know the current status of the Mormon church.

I believe the primary reason is thier ideas regarding the nature of the Trinity. Thier church's teachings on God and men is breathtaking incorrect.

I also know that most of the rank and file Mormons that I have encountered are unaware of these false teachings that make thier Baptisms invalid. They very much consider themselves Christians.

What I find truly astonishing is that even without a valid Baptism God is somehow able to sustain them in living a moral life. They are pro-life, believe in being chaste and virginal until marriage avoid work on Sunday and usually spend 3-4 hours at Church on Sunday.

It really makes me as a Catholic, having access to the Sacraments, the true teaching of the Church etc. lament my poor witness as a follower of Christ.

The Mormon mom that am asking prayers for is so joyful, moral and loving. Undoubtedly it is because she considers herself a Christian and God honors what is perhaps her invincible ignorance.

God always honors the hearts of people of good will I believe. Through no fault of her own she is unaware of the truth. Prayers for the Holy Spirit to move in her life.
