From Good trees good fruit comes. From Bad trees bad fruit comes. How can bad fruit come from a good tree? Jesus Himself taught us that. But you teach that very bad fruit can come from a very good tree? How can this be?
We are simply pointing out what the Archbishop himself is pointing out - these translations are bad and are producing false interpretations and doctrines. The interpretations of Luisa’s third fiat is heresy. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Guarantee that the critical edition will clarify it to be in conformity with the Tradition
Having trouble posting from my phone. Padraig, please read the above post. We are saying the same thing the Archbishop is saying.
I would exercise great caution here. Leave the Archbishop to do what the Archbishop himself is doing. He does not require any assistance. Be careful in opposing this thing. It is of God. Actions have consequences.
No doubt he doesn’t need anyone’s help. The ironic thing is that those urging caution and patience for the correct translations - which is the official stance is of the Archbishop- are being accused of acting against him and the Spirit. While those who post the very translation that we are warned about are held in esteem. Strange times of diabolic confusion.
However, I find it to be a piece of the puzzle’s framework which we would be wise not to readily dismiss.
Our own selfish free will is like a wild horse -- it is hard to tame. For me my own selfish will has been the greatest obstacle to my growth in holiness. There are many who cannot see the 'power' of their own self will holding in check what God wants to do in their lives -- Many are like Frank Sinatra who sang 'I did it my Way'. But we are followers of The Way, The Truth and The Life - Jesus who was conformed to the Divine Will. We are to imitate Christ in every way. I think this devotion is simple enough. It merely involves surrendering our will to God. Giving it to Him to direct our lives and let God be the engine that drives us instead of our own will which often only wants comfort and pleasure.
A little example today -- I had been putting off weeding the garden and along the paths -- my will. I preferred the comfort of the chair inside. So today I said to Jesus - Lord let us do a little weeding -- I surrendered this task to Him and we did it together. I united my will to His. I offered to do it on my knees as a penance. I asked the Blessed Lord 'for whom shall I offer this little penance' --- he said do it in reparation for the sins committed against His Mother and the blasphemies committed against her Immaculate purity. As a consequence I got stuck in because I love Our Lady and wanted to please her -- I was getting through the weeding pretty quick to comfort the Immaculate Heart of Mary. My knees were taking a battering on the concrete path. But half way through -- it started to pour from the heavens -- I laughed -- I was actually really disappointed not to get it all done. Let not my will be done but Thine.
We are not obliged to believe in any private revelations. We can obtain salvation without them. I oppose this devotion simply because it sounds heretical to me. And I tend to think that it is superfluous. I am not preventing anyone from believing in this but I am expressing my views. I am not opposing God Himself. He certainly knows my heart. He created it.
Extremely helpful to know this when understanding this as a whole. My trust is in the Church and how She determines what is authentic.
Padraig, have you never heard of the Devil’s Advocate in causes for canonization? Do you feel uncomfortable when members disagree with you? The thought never crossed my mind that I might be opposing God. That’s some heavy accusation to make.
Ah, HH, you're a straight shooter if ever I've heard one. You know, when the dust settles and the new translations appear, there will be two camps still: Camp 1: This humble pie sure tastes great. Thank you Jesus for Your Merciful Love! Camp 2: Imagine that, we gave it our best, and were actual on target. Thank you Jesus for Your Merciful Love! Brothers and Sisters for eternity!
Divine Mercy was opposed by many before it was understood to be part of the Deposit of Faith. God's Infinite Mercy is a scandal.
There’s a third option you overlooked Some of us might not be eating humble pie. We might be correct right now.
