Present day "prophets"

I have an instinctive mistrust of posts on this forum spreading the message of unapproved "prophets" or "visionaries". Some may be of God, some may be of satan, and some may be megalomaniacs with a lust for power, fame or maybe even financial reward. The thing is no one can know for sure. So unless a person is approved eg by the local bishop I think posting about them may be quite harmful.

On the other hand for some years it has seemed to me that since the Church has stopped proclaiming the Gospel from the pulpits, alleged prophetic voices have been raised warning us of the consequences of not keeping Gods Laws and Precepts. That used to be proclaimed from the pulpit.

When I say the Gospel being proclaimed from the pulpits, I mean the Gospel is read; but where are the sermons that explain to the ordinary layman what lesson we need to take from the Gospel. The Church of nice has left three generations in ignorance and the loss of Faith is all around us.

We also see or hear of statues and icons weep tears and blood and oils. I see this as God saying to us. If the Word is not proclaimed the very stones will cry out. They are crying out. Inanimate objects are proclaiming the impossible. Is it because the shepherds are failing to proclaim the Good News?

I honestly believe if the Gospel is proclaimed and explained from the pulpit again, all these messengers and crying statues will stop.

Of course there will be false prophets along with the genuine ones, and discerning the false is something we are obliged to do. Thank God Saint Paul told us to take what is good and leave the rest to God. That is how I view the phenomena since the mid 1970's when all these prolific messengers started.

Ok, it is too cumbersome to search for a specific thread on my phone.

Any suggestions for discussing or broaching the Warning with a Christian Reformed friend more familiar perhaps with the "Rapture" idea?

My thought is to present links, encouraging prayerful discernment.

Help me to understand something, and I'm being honest here:

Your position is that Gods is sending His prophets with messages we find on the internet because we don't hear solid preaching in the pulpits... but what about the solid preaching that we receive on the internet (Fr. Schmitz, Fr. Ripperger, Archbishop Chaput, etc.)?

If the messages are being found on the internet, it seems to me that discounting solid preaching available to us online is odd - so I'm having a hard time with your position there. If the lack of solid teaching is driving someone to the internet to look up prophecies, that person can just as easily - if not more so - find solid Catholic teaching there. Seems there's a flaw with that logic.

Also, not every place has stopped proclaiming the Gospel from the pulpits. I've found that there are usually good places in most areas - although you may have to travel a bit to find one.

    Wholeheartedly agree!

The proliferation of messages, with the vast majority of them being false, is a sure sign of the times we are living in:

    Marie-Julie Jahenny, “The Breton Stigmatist”
    June 28, 1880

"In those years,” says Satan, “I will make many revelations. (I.e., False revelations through apparitions that are actually demonic.) It will be impossible to expose my language. I will imitate all too well the words of Christ and His revelations. By loading these souls, I want a lot of pious priests to be lost, to mislead them deeply into all these things. I also want to lose many souls (the same way) who are not priests. (Other religious and the laity.) If I can not lose these souls, I will (make them) lose their reputation at least, I will make them charges of heavy slander, I will make them denounce up to the point of counsels of human laws.”

Yikes. There it is.when you cant destroy a devout Catholic --priest or laity--by the normal 7 deadly sins--you appeal to their very virtues by introducing locutions and apparitions. Overwhelm with the numbers so bishops cant keep up. Create divisions by manipulating the devout to take sides.(this goes back to the early Church with Paul and Appollos). Its still sadly effective. For myself I pray always for wisdom and for final perseverence. We MUST be obedient to the Bishop's decision whether we like him or not whether we approve of him or not. God has given him the authority and the charism. Outside of this obedience we are lambs among wolves. Period.

For the record Frodo, Marie-Julie Jahenny is not approved. She is a "complicated case" who was condemned by two parish priests before being treated as ex-communicated (denied sacraments for 11 years). Several bishops were openly hostile towards her and like many seers, there was a battle with some supporting her and some not. She is known today through the efforts of one man (Marquis de la Franquerie). Her writings are circulated among many Catholics, in particular I hear her cited a lot among traditionalists, but she is not approved that I'm aware of and she is not in the process of beatification even though apparently there are efforts.

I guess you'll have to decide on whether you want to keep promoting her.

But I've read several books about her and recommend her ;-)

Yes, there was controversy with her. Her obedience the entire time - until Leo XII stepped in and reversed the sacramental ban - is to her great credit.

Also, let this show that I don't always wait for mystics to be approved. Actually I'm not sure I want this to get out; it might strip me of my naysayer title... ;)

  10. what matters in this case is the idea, which was already in the Bible, that at the end times the deception would be so great that it would deceive almost everyone, including the manifestation of wonders and false miracles. it's time to stop focusing on small unimportant revelations or locutions not approved by the church. It is a cold baby food

At 5 minutes and 50 or so seconds in this video, closure of Churches is mentioned. Worth a listen to. Not saying follow this lady, but her messages have a ring of truth in them. I wonder where she is now. By the way some of her messages were among those taken and claimed by mdm, MDM abuse should not be blamed on the real messenger heard on this video.

Very compelling. I was on board til the end when the message spoke of a second coming of Jesus as a child to reign. Sounds fishy. Where does she stand with the Church I wonder.

Yes these messages were quickly condemned some years ago when a message came saying we would see two suns in the sky.

I have heard in other places Jesus will return spiritually as a child, don't quite know what to make of that indeed.

Like you said there is a lot of compelling content outside of the Christ Child part. Peace :)

I just spottted your reply after all this time.
It is only fair to realise we do not know who these solid preachers are. We only find out by trial and error the same way we find out about other alleged messages or messengers. And indeed by observations from other believers sharing their opinions about what they see and hear.

You claim my position is.....that God is sending His prophets with messages we then find on the internet. That is a pretty liberal attitude to how we come across these pockets of information. And I am not impressed with your opinion in this regard. It does not portray Saint Pauls advice to take what is good and leave the rest to God.

Who has the time to do a world wide search for, and discern which preacher is reliable. This remark is ludicrous.

In time some of us hear of the Fr. Rippergers of this world, and can find them on You Tube when we have time.

I can tell you that most people I know spend a lot less time than I do nowadays, where through illness and infirmity which allows me time to search these things, I am able to learn a lot about my faith, thank God.

But having to wait until you are old and infirm to have time to find out more about the faith does not help the generations who are following me and have to work to keep a roof over their head, food in their bellies and clothes on their back. Especially mothers who have a home to run on top of a full time job to help support their families. The Pulpit is the only place we all come together to hear The Good News, and how we need to respond to get the benefits of it.

I now testify to you, I was only lucky on a handful of occasions in my 70 plus years of a good solid sermon to take away and meditate and benefit from. Most of the sermons were a load of pink fluffy garble, and acts of charity had to flow upwards and outwards to endure for the sake of fidelity to Jesus Christ and His promise of salvation if we fight the good fight and run the race to the finish. The preaching/message from the pulpit was rubbish.

We do need Heaven to intervene, until the preachers get back to the Gospel and all that it opens before us. I still stand by the belief that the Heavenly interventions have to be The Good Shepherd reaching out to His sheep and lambs, because His Ministers have lost the plot. Of course there are good and holy men also in the mix, and we are drawn to them like a magnet when we have the good fortune to find one. Sadly there are not enough of them to stop the flow out the door of the Church, and God is trying to help fill the emptiness in our souls with messengers where of course the devil gets in and inserts chaff among the wheat. This is why we need to discern and trust God to keep us from making the wrong choices in the people we hear with their message whether the Minister or the alleged messenger.

Present day Prophets....Speaking of which. A message from December 2020 for discernment. And before anyone wants to dismiss the message in this short video, the same message is posted on another thread from another source. I discern with caution and respect.

I would have qualms urging this video on anyone. Fr. Rodrigue has been denounced by the two bishops who have/had authority over him. It doesn't matter who else agrees with him or not. Why push a "prophet" already found wanting? I truly do not understand the need to present information from a tainted source. It is not in keeping with the directives of legitimate church authority.

And before anyone says, "We should be free to make up our own minds," remember the damage caused by false prophets in the past. Also remember that we are a Church founded by Christ, operating as a hierarchy.

Father Rodrigue said some really interesting things that lined up with prophecies that are recognized as credible or church approved. Unfortunately he also said a lot of interesting things that turned out to be untrue. Better to let his messages go and focus on what we know is good.

Look at all the things the Pope and many Bishops are saying that don't line up with the Gospels and the Bible, and we are not going to let everything they say go down the pan. We look for the good in these men, and leave the rest to God. We don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water.

When talking about prophecy it’s either all good or it’s bad. That’s how we are supposed to judge.

Why follow a “prophet” that mixes Fatima and Akita, for example, with bad messages when you could just follow Fatima and Akita?

Do you reject the authority of a bishop to instruct the faithful regarding pronouncements of an alleged prophet? That is a definition of a Protestant.

Fr. Rodrigue claims he has raised the dead. Curiously, there are no news stories or witness accounts to back him up. He claims to be an exorcist--yet neither of the two bishops he worked for granted him that authority, nor the head of his religious order. Fr. Rodrigue claims to have had secret conversations in the Vatican with Pope John Paul II, without his Swiss guards knowing.

Don't you understand Fr. Rodrigue may have mental issues? Or that he might unwittingly been tricked by the evil one? Because these are both strong possibilities. Both bishops attest he tells stories that are not true. I can't understand why anyone could promote Fr. Rodrigue's messages in good conscience.
