Fr. Michael Scanlan’s 1976 Prophecy Son of man, do you see that city going bankrupt? Are you willing to see all your cities going bankrupt? Are you willing to see the bankruptcy of the whole economic system you rely on now so that all money is worthless and cannot support you? Son of man, do you see the crime and lawlessness in your city streets, and towns, and institutions? Are you willing to see no law, no order, no protection for you except that which I myself will give you? Son of man, do you see the country which you love and which you are now celebrating—a country’s history that you look back on with nostalgia? Are you willing to see no country—no country to call your own except those I give you as my body? Will you let me bring you life in my body and only there? Son of man, do you see those churches which you can go to so easily now? Are you ready to see them with bars across their doors, with doors nailed shut? Are you ready to base your life only on me and not on any particular structure? Are you ready to depend only on me and not on all the institutions of schools and parishes that you are working so hard to foster? Son of man, I call you to be ready for that. That is what I am telling you about. The structures are falling and changing—it is not for you to know the details now—but do not rely on them as you have been. I want you to make a deeper commitment to one another. I want you to trust one another, to build an interdependence that is based on my Spirit. It is an interdependence that is no luxury. It is an absolute necessity for those who will base their lives on me and not the structures from a pagan world. I have spoken and it will take place. My word will go forth to my people. They may hear and they may not—and I will respond accordingly—but this is my word. Look about you, son of man. When you see it all shut down, when you see everything removed which has been taken for granted, and when you are prepared to live without these things, then you will know what I am making ready.
I was just going to post this till I saw you had Padraig. I knew about this prophecy but had not read it again for some time. Wow.
I think I will read it over and over again the next few weeks and take it to the Lord in prayer. A sad/ happy thing happened to me today. A certain priest heard my Confession and then afterwards called me aside for a talk. He is going to celebrate a mass in secret and invited me to it. He is terrified in case the Bishop fines out and he gets the sack. Is that not so, so sad? A priest facing the sack for saying Mass? Incredible times. But I am so happy, I have not been to mass in several months now. When I woke this morning I felt my Angel Guardian pushing and pushing me to go to Church. I see now why. Angel Guardians are wonderful, My hero.
I will. Although I think the Good Good will have forgotten what I look like! Let's see.. I suppose it is nearly three months now since I was last at mass. Sooo sad....
Oh please keep us all in your prayers at Mass! And yes, how sad that a priest has to hide a Mass! My brother-in-law who recently passed away, Fr. Bob, had all kinds of trouble with his Bishop (as did many of his friends from seminary who became priests) because he/they were too 'conservative' It is a thing in almost every diocese I'll bet. Terribly sad..
I will remember everyone on the Forum at Mass... soooo happy. It is maybe a terrible thing to say but I think that the way things are these days any priest or nun who does not have severe problems with their confreres is on the road to hell. That's just the way things are. I have a real deep impression in prayer things are just getting warmed up. We ain't seen nothing yet. Everyone thinks this virus is bad. This virus was nothing compared to the things that are coming next. The virus was just a light summer breeze on our faces. There's a huge storm coming and its no light summer breeze.
I will remember you all. I am curious to see how many others he invited to this secret mass. It is quite dangerous for him, poor man. Imagine a Catholic priest having to say a mass in secret in case his Bishop or the Police found out. In Catholic Ireland. I ask you. Madness.
Thank God our local parish (and their weekly TLM) is open once again! I went there for the first time in months on Sunday. I met Fr. Scanlon years ago at Steubenville, and for a number of years he was in residence at a local Catholic nursing home in Pennsylvania within walking distance of my mom’s house, where I was living at the time, and I attended daily mass there. Unfortunately he already had advanced dementia, but it was clear he still had a priest’s heart for the mass. One day the diocesan priest who usually offered daily mass for us had to cancel at the last minute due to illness, and the Carmelite nun who was director at the nursing home was announcing there would be no mass today. Fr. Scanlon quipped up from his wheelchair, “I’ll do it!” Unfortunately again, he wasn’t able, so we had a communion service instead. But he was eager to help.

Thank you Padraig. God bless this courageous priest and protect him. The new Archbishop of Seattle has limited communion to receiving in the hand by the decree of the Governor and so our TLM parishes are still unable to offer Mass and communion to the faithful unless it is by invite only.
I was reading this morning about the strange goings on in Seattle were armed anarchists have taken over an area of the city while the Mayor and Governor sit on their hands. It's another sign of the times, this loss of confidence in rulers. It reminds me of the Paris Commune. or the immediate prelude to the Spanish Civil War:
