Lent 2020 let’s cause some spiritual damage :)

Ok, lent is almost here. Time to cause some spiritual damage. Remember it’s a battle all around us...and the angels and saints expect us to participate.

Here is my battle plan. I will not promise God or my MOG brothers and sisters...but I will try to follow my plan.

    1. The first thing I will do when I wake up and the last thing I will do when I go to sleep.

    My four goto prayers.
    Our Father
    Hail Mary
    Glory to God
    Angel of God

    2. When I go to mass, during the transubstantiation, at that specific moment, I will pray for souls in purgatory. We need those souls in heaven.

    3. 45 day fast.

    A. No meat Wednesday and Friday.
    B. No eating after 5pm except water, cheese or fruit. If it’s a special dinner I will eat a small portion and focus on things i like the least. If i have family sit down dinners, Again I will eat a small portion and eat the things i like the least. I don’t want anyone to know my fast because it’s between me and God.

    4. stations of the cross once a week

    5. Lastly, I will spend 15 minutes a night reflecting on how God has helped me throughout the day...and how God will use me the following day.

    Ok, that’s my battle plan.

Lent is a few days away.

It’s time for this ragtag group of spiritual warriors to dust off the sword of righteousness and the shield of faith.

The Order of MOG must rise to the battle.

    :)

I hope all my brothers and sisters have a wonderful lent. May God bless all of us and may we do Gods will.

Please pray for Br. Al too. There’s a reason I’m fallen saint.

Love you guys. Keep up the good work.

Tally-Ho! My spiritual brothers and sisters.

    By-the-way...what’s your Lenten promise. :)

Al, This is wonderful. I like everything that you have stated, I think that I can do everything here except since I need to eat small meals it is very difficult for me to not eat after 5pm and I'm not that big of a cheese and fruit fan to limit myself to just those.
I will give up blogging on Sundays during Lent, I often say I am going to do this and I fail, so it will be a sacrifice and that's the point. Maybe both Saturdays and Sundays, I'll decide soon. Thank you for this thread.:)

God understands our health and doesn’t want something that might hurt us. Many ways to join each other spiritually.

Have a wonderful Lenten Season Carol55.

Sometimes it's not giving up but enhancing that is a good lenten experience. Such as, Stations of the Cross, etc. Could I recommend a really good book? As you know I am a Secular Carmelite, discalced. So, naturally I tend to be more meditative . . .I have been reading a book called, "Divine Intimacy" by Father Gabriel of Saint Mary Magadalen, OCD. It has a reading for every day and is so well done, deep, and spiritual. Just a page or two a day, and so worth the read. I am a diabetic, so fasting, etc. is very difficult for me.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

I love your plan. Made me LOL though, because it is supposed to be a secret and it is out there for the whole universe to see. Only joking.

I hope to start with the first fast which is to avoid the clenched fist and the angry tongue. No, I don't have a big temper, but read somewhere that God prefers us to start with the first fast. So being kind even if someone rattles my cage qualifies for the first fast.

Then resisting sweet treats when shopping during Lent, harder said than done for Julia,,,sigh. But very good for the excess weight.

Please God, to complete the preparation for Consecration to Jesus through Mary, and there is a preparation on the forum here for the feast of Saint Joseph 19th March which would be lovely to complete as these occur during Lent.

We never eat meat on Fridays, so that is normal now, just have to avoid large portions on Ash Wednesday (meat free) and Good Friday.

I do have one little secret offering to my sweet Heavenly Father in Advent and Lent, won't say it or it stops being a secret. Praise God.

Ya, it’s still a secret because all of us our the brothers and sisters we have never seen.

If you guys knew me, I wouldn’t be able to write a big portion of what I write.

But ya, I guess my secrets are in the open.

    Have a wonderful Lenten Season

That's a lot. My track record of keeping Lenten resolutions is not good. In fact it's terrible. I'll pick a few of the more doable from your list but I don't dare say which ones because that would be the kiss of death to my promise.

Me too Carol. Hoping to go electronic free a couple of days a week as a fast. Harder for me than a food fast. Hoping for daily Mass but my record since Christmax has been horrible with respiratory trouble. Also have missed my Holy hours. Boy I can feel a difference!

I was thinking about Lent today and then Brother Al got out his cattle prod and commenced to use it on us again.:eek::eek: SIGH:cautious:
I still have not decided on my plan, but like Dolours, my track record of not keeping Lenten resolutions is not good. My track record is embarrassing, in fact.
I have tried various and sundry ways of giving things up and adding things to....with very little success. So I will decide soon, and it will be a secret.

    :(
Truth be told I have never had a fruitful Lent. I start out gangbusters and then I flame out. This year I am going one day at a time. I will do the fast abstinence for Ash Wednesday and every Friday but nothing grand. I just cant be trusted. I will try to do something every day that is hard for me. Some kind of denial. But I have decided to have no expectations.:(

Interesting correlation to our prep for renewing our consecration to the Immaculate Heart. This first week had been all about breaking with the spirit of the world and here is a dramatic painting of this particular temptation.
