As for me, I would love to have the reverence that I see in TLM in my parish NO mass. That is what I miss terribly. When my kids were younger, we would drive them 3 hours to attend the LM at St. Agnes in St. Paul on Corpus Christi Sunday. That is what I miss in my church is the holy reverence due God. Some point, this holiness I miss will return, but not until the earth and the church is renewed in God's justice and holiness.

 

Exactly! On the rare occasions I get to TLM the reverence and just deep Catholic spirit is there. However the Mass I often attend at a convent chapel with a handful of devout elderly nuns and remnant Catholics has the same spirit so I am blessed.

 

I think priests and bishops who rebelled against humanae Vitae were the biggest rupture in the dam that was holding back the waters of modernism. So much confusion and cynicism and outright rebellion followed in the laity.

I am in 100% agreement with Pope Benedict XVI:

I have read articles which posit that the widespread use of birth control opened up the floodgates to all manner of sexual sins, due to the fact that sex was no longer a sacramental marital act, open to the transmission of life.
Sodomy, transgenderism, same-sex marriage, communion in adulterous marriages, so on.
This has been reflected in the Church as well as in society, and is being accepted, unfortunately.
There are also great sins in our time against the First Commandment. That is part of what I fear from the Amazonian Synod.
But these things were all foretold in Scripture, and must come to pass. If we had listened to Our Lady of Fatima, things may well have been different, and things may have been delayed. But no.
We did not.
And I am officially "paradigmed out."

 

There is no doubt that the collapse of the liturgy occurred with the introduction of the Novus Ordo Mass.

Anna Katharina Emmerich saw the new Mass in visions when she lived, in the 1800s. Brentano, her "pilgrim", wrote it all down.
Emmerich spoke of the Mass as the "afterchurch", where people at Mass sit in the pews and everyone pulls an evil spirit out of their chest and puts it in front of them to worship it. She also called the new Mass "selbstich" which translates to something like "self-centered". She said the new "Mass is short and at the end the gospel of St John is not read anymore".
I find amazing in which details Emmerich saw the new Mass in the 1800s. She said the new Mass is taking place in stripped, empty church buildings, and that people would receive less blessings from this new Mass.
Also, I think Marie-Julie Jahenny had visions where Christ told her the New Mass "contains words that are odious in my sight". I could be wrong.
I just wanted to respond to the question of prophecy about the new Mass.

AC Emmerich. And I believe what I know of MJ Jahenny.

 

I would be careful in the words they may have used in any prophecy. I am pretty sure they did not use the word "new mass", as if it indicates the Novus Ordo mass is invalid as the Trads do. After all, when the Antichrist comes, he will truly make a Mass too, but it will be protestant in nature where Jesus truly will not be present. He, like the Protestants will take out the sacrifice and it will be thee abomination of desolation. Perhaps this is what Emmerich and Julie Jehenny foresaw. It is very speculative that they were addressing a valid Mass in what they saw, as the Novus Ordo mass is a valid mass, which canonized saints/popes have said many times.

There are so many ways to petition the Good Lord to save His Church. Our Lady at Fatima requested the sacrifice of our daily duties. I find it very difficult to offer the tasks and responsibilities I truly hate. Then there are the First Fridays and the First Saturday devotions. We are requested to pray much, especially the Rosary. We must live good lives and keep the Ten Commandments.
Thinking that we can bring back what we long for from the past by talking to our bishops may be a dead end right now. IMHO
Scripture tells us these things must come to pass.
God’s will be done. He fixes the timetable and all the vainglorious attempts of mortals to change it will not matter.

 

I have attended very few TLMs in my life after 1970. In my mid-20s when I struggled with the "exaltation of Mary over Christ" due to ignorance, what kept me in the Church was the Eucharist. It is a profound lack of formation and the attachment to worldly affections that blind the laity to the reality of Holy Mass.

May our reverence and awe and proper silence be a witness!

If the TLM ministers to your heart in a way that the NO doesn't, then God be praised. Does the joy in your heart cause you to invite others to join you in this love, wonderful. But to denigrate the NO is unproductive. Rather pray for those who improvise and do not instruct. Offer prayers and fastings for the blind. Weep for them and for your fellow parishioners.

I say this not to boast for I am a weak sinner who is daily confronted with my shortcomings. But I have joy in my Lord and God and I kneel before Him, especially at Holy Mass. If the NO was intrinsically flawed, if it is fundamentally deficient, then why are my children still striving to live the Faith and frequently attending Holy Mass? Why do I have two priest sons who reverently celebrate the NO?

The pain in our hearts over the culture and the blindness of many in the Church are a burden which causes us to cry out, "Why is this so?" But it is problematic when we reduce the solution to one issue. And who do we end up arguing with? Other committed Catholics who love God, love Mary, and seek to imitate Jesus Christ.

Let us put our energies into serving the confused, the sorrowing, the ignorant. Let us inform, teach, clarify, and walk with the blind.

 

I have never been to a TLM. I don't denegrate the New Mass.

But so much energy has been sapped from the church in the past 50 years because of the liturgy wars and attempted reform of the reforms.

The whole thing has been an experiment that has gone badly, badly wrong.

I am convinced that Catholicism is now in a permanent state of regression.

The culmination will be the Amazon Synod when we shall see new innovations that will make us weep.

 

I am truly sorry that you feel that way about the Mass.
