Bishop Denies Communion! Outrageous

The Basilica in my diocese is a real treasure. Yes we have bells that are rung at consecration. The architecture and statuary is gorgeous!

While I look forward to seeing friends at my previous church next Sunday, I'm not looking forward to receiving in the hand. Jesus knows my heart though. Attending Mass isn't about being different persay. Of course, if I sit in the front pew with my cane (post hip), I might be able to avoid the hand.

 

Mine does ......no communion rail though. There are plenty of people, including younger families who kneel to receive in my parish.

 

I put my hands together at waistband height and put out my tongue, and tilt my head back. That works for me.

 

Now thats what I was saying before. And I think thats so awful to make people feel uncomfortabe kneeling. I still am trying to grasp as to what the thinking was to have people stand up. The church teaches everyone that Christ is actually in the consecrated host but requires you to now stand! It all makes no sense and I have no choice but to question ones reasoning to make this so. I am suspicious to many things now because of this. Remeber Jesus said that "every knee would bend".

Yes Gary ...my sentiments exactly. Jesus is my authority. Additionally, I believe that the church approved our right to receive either way...unless I’m wrong. If so, I’d either have to be begrudgingly obedience, or find a different church. Most likely , I find a new church. I wouldn’t want to be focused on a controversy like that when I should be focused on the Eucharist. Yes, I’d find a new church.

 

Rumor has it that this bishop got the message! Social media caught up to this in a big way apparently! He has now installed kneelers for those who want to kneel! Praise Jesus!

I didnt mean that the church doesent allow kneeling, I meant that the priests and bishops that make you stand up or deny communion are the insult and putting pressure on people to stand. I cant quite figure what gives them the right to do this. If the church allows kneeling and the priest doesent, isn't he going against church rules! And what is the punishment for choosing this? A priest can do this in one church and the other church doesent? It makes no sense to me.

 

Oh,I know you didn’t mean that Gary. And yes, these priest/bishops are wrong to deny the faithful to kneel.
What a horrible position he put these good people in...and for what? That’s what concerns me...why did he do this? No good excuse that I can think of!

 

I wonder if there is more news on that bishop. I'm going to look.

Pope Benedict only gave Jesus on the tongue to kneelers.
It was still happening in my own diocese up until the public exposure of the bully priests and their correction. The last episode I'm aware of was in 2002 when a former pastor of mine refused Communion to Virginia State Delegate Dick Black. The priest took on the wrong guy and the negative publicity, I'm sure, convinced the bishop to instruct the priests to administer Communion to kneelers. After all, if pro-abortion politicians can desecrate the body of the Lord with impunity....

Listen to the VORTEX to hear the story of the bully priest, Fr. Ron Jozwiak, who denied Communion to a young woman, Rachel Madi, because she knelt to receive Our Lord. He loudly ordered her to "get up and receive Communion the Catholic way." When she replied, "This is the Catholic way," he walked around her and gave Communion to the next in line. If only she were a pro-abortion politician or a transgender in clown costurme she would have had no problem. But KNEELING AND ON THE TONGUE! Horrors.

Because the priest's actions were so loud and misled the congregation into believing kneeling is not allowed, Rachel wants the bishop to instruct Prince of Peace pastor, Fr. Ron Jozwiak, to make a public apology at all Masses and to instruct the congregation that kneeling is a legitimate, canonically approved, way to receive Holy Communion. Since he's a canon lawyer he probably knows that already, but apparently he believes his opinion trumps canon law.

The only thing that can rein in some of these priests is public correction. Pray for Rachel Madi and the parishioners of Prince of Peace. And you might consider sending a polite letter or e-mail to Archbishop Vigneron urging him to disseminate in the diocesan paper the fact that Catholics are within their rights to kneel for Communion and receive Communion on the tongue. A slap down to Fr. Ron would get the message across to other priests tempted to trampel the rights of their parishioners.
