What a wonderful picture. As I remember the Hill is just a collection of boulders. I wonder would a fire do that much harm up there?
I follow Ana Shawl on Facebook who is one of the moderators of the mir-peace-shalom prayer group. I messaged her on FB about the fires, but I've not received a reply. She is living in Medjugorje right now. I have also checked Medjugorje.org which she moderates. There is no mention of fires in that area. I also checked the prayer group postings, and, again there is no posting about fires in that area. I'm not sure that is accurate. I might be wrong, but I think I would have found some mention of fires there.
I watched the fire myself last night on the live medjcam as it moved across Apparition Hill. I first caught the story on Spirit Daily. The winds have shifted again and the fires have moved to the backside of the mountains. It seems that brush fires are common there this time of year,but this one was rather large and was moving down the hill towards the houses. They've got helicopters trying to fight the fires as the rocky terrain makes it difficult to fight the fires. Well off to pray for the prayer requests on the mirpeaceshalom prayer group as one of the prayer requests is to pray for rain to help put out the fires. They say they haven't had rain in four months. Mir peace shalom everyone!
Medjugorje is like California now, a tinder box. With the high temperatures, no rain and wind it's called the "fire season" here and stretches into November. Lord have mercy.
The fires are real. I have received texts from friends to pray for rain. The parish I travelled with last year have a large group out there just now who are due to return on Wednesday. Pray that they are kept safe too. I saw the above photo earlier today in the crown of stars blog.
They should be safe now that the wind's changed, Carfin. Medjugorje Today is now reporting that the fires are under control. You know Mirjana must have known something, because after Ivan's apparition on the mountain on Friday was cancelled because of smoke, the rumor mill in Medjugorje had it that Mirjana's apparition would be in her home Sunday morning, but her husband said no it would be at the bluecross. Perhaps a certain lady told her something. I think they ought to have a big sign in Medjugorje: In case of fire, watch the visionary!
I'm glad to hear that everyone is okay. I still haven't found any information on that. We have enough tinder boxes in the world today. We don't need Medjugorje to burn. Glad the winds have changed.
