As you all know, I have a hard time with the huge number of concerns expressed here regarding prophesy and the end of times. I like this forum, but I see so many people unable to talk about anything else. What does it matter if the Illumination comes or not? What does it matter if the Illumination comes and it's in our life time? It doesn't. Our job on earth is to know God and to love Him. Why all this fear and anxiety? I would love to see some wonderful discussions about our Blessed Mother. I would love to see some wonderful discussions about God. I see so much fear and anxiety about the end of times. At Medjugorje, Our Lady says, that we need to pray, fast, go to confession, participate in adoration. All of these things will bring us closer to her Son. Hide under her mantle. She will protect you. Pray the rosary. Remember, if and when the Illumnation or the end of times comes, you might not even be alive. It won't matter then. Why worry? Give your concerns to God. Make Him your Father and Friend. He Loves US beyond words. Fear and Anxiety are not fruits of love. Like Padre Pio says, "Pray, Hope and Don't Worry."

    Mallory,

I don't see an interest in prophesy and the end times as being in any way separate from leading a good Catholic spiritual life. . On the contrary I believe the two go hand in hand.

I this were not so, for instance, why would God have chosen to send Our Blessed Lady to a little village in Portugal called Fatima if it were not necessary? If it were a distraction form important things God would never have done so.

Pretty well all our modern Catholic devotions have sprung up from apparitions, most of which have had a strong prophetic content.

Pope Benedict himself honed into the Warning of Fatima at a recent address and was not mistaken in doing so:

For instance that of the Sacred Heart, apparitions to St Margaret Mary, containing strong prophetic content.

What was the example of the King of France? He failed to consecrate France to the Sacred Heart as Our Lord had commanded in His apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque on June 17, 1689—another apparition approved by the Church as worthy of belief. A succession of subsequent French kings also failed to follow this command. One hundred years to the day after that apparition—on the 17th of June 1789—King Louis XVI of France was stripped of his power by the Third Estate and four years later he was guillotined. His attempt to consecrate France in his jail cell while he awaited execution was too little, too late; it was not the solemn public act that Our Lord had commanded so that the whole world would know that His power had saved France.

In the fairly recent Divine Mercy Messages of Divine Mercy which have swept the Catholic world, heavily encouraged by Pope John Paul 2 their is an intense prophetic message, warning of a time of Justice to come on the world.

    .

I can only say in my own spiritual life such messages have not proved a distraction but an encouragement to grow in love. If this were not so why would not innumerable Popes have encouraged the Catholic faithful to believe ,study and learn from them; this in line with scripture:

    1 Thessalonians 5:19-22

    New American Standard Bible (NASB)
19 Do not quench the Spirit; 20 do not despise prophetic [a]utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every [b]form of evil.

We are merely following in the footsteps of our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who often spoke of the Signs of the Times and we are also responding to our Blessed Lady who speaks always of the signs of the times in her messages in Medjugorje.

It is impossible to ignore the signs of the times that are now all around us and Padraig specifically set up this website under a mandate from our Lady - even unbelievers can now see the signs of the times and are looking for answers which they will find on a forum such as this. There are many other Catholic forums that you could join but we are under obligation to speak of the signs of the times. This does not produce fear rather repentance and conversion.

    Matthew 16
And Pharisees and Sadducees approached him to test him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. But he responded by saying to them: “When evening arrives, you say, ‘It will be calm, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and gloomy.’ So then, you know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you are unable to know the signs of the times?

    Matthew 24
For there will arise false Christs and false prophets. And they will produce great signs and wonders, so much so as to lead into error even the elect (if this could be). Behold, I have warned you beforehand.

    Matthew 24
Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2 “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

32 Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door.

2 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.44 So you also must be ready.

    Luke 21
And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there will be great signs.

And at Medjugorje our Lady explicitly asked us to recognise the signs of the times that we are living in

    April 2nd 2006
My children, do you not recognize the signs of the times? Do you not speak of them? Come follow me. As a mother I call you. Thank you for having responded."

    May 2 2009
My poor children, look around you and look at the signs of the times.

Billy Graham is such a saint.

You can tell the changes the Holy Spirit has wrought in him down the years. Originally when he was young you could see a certain reserve towards Catholics. Now he embraces us all. A sign of growth in holiness not only for Billy but for Baptists generally in the States.

His message is highly prophetic; another sign of holiness.

Prophecy is such a powerful charism given to the Church militant - it has certainly inspired me to think of martyrdom for Christ. First, I must be purged of personal sin [white martyrdom] which is what our Lady is calling us to do in Medjugorje [conversion]. Once we are purged of personal sin we see the world through the eyes of faith and then we see the reality of the sinful and evil godless, secular society that has sprung up all around us in great darkness, the work of the evil one. A culture of death envelops the earth. When we resist this evil in our society and speak prophetically against it we will be persecuted. The political trend in the west is leading us towards totalitarianism and therefore the scene is set for full persecution and even red martyrdom in the not too distant future. One has to be fully converted in order to stand up for Christ to the point of death, which some of us may be called to do.

Acts 7 - the martyrdom of St Stephen
Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

    St Stephen, pray for us.

I wonder if it is possible to be an authentic Catholic in the world today without suffering from a real pain from the secular world. It must be very hard indeed for parents to watch their children wander from the true faith.

I had another dream about the Warning a couple of nights ago. I was at the abck of what loooked like a College Auditorium , full of very agitated people. I had a pair of rosary beads in my hand, sitting a the back facing down to a white wall and in front some empty seats for speakers. There was a great deal of anxious talk and ferment. One lady to my left said loudly,

    'Lets say the rosary!'

Then a guy to my ar left said,

    'Let Padraig lead it!'

So we started saying the roasry. But as we did so the white wall ahead lit up and the audience started ooohing and ahhing and I realised the graces of the Warning were still active in their hearts.

But I decided to keep on with the rosary.

But one lady in fromt was very angry and inssitent that we stop to discuss things

I am sorry I got interrupted.:)

The lady was angry I had kept saying the rosary and said said some very, very insulting things quite loudly about me. I went down towards her in a very, very foul Irish temper. But she honestly seemed unaware of having done anything wrong. Someone said to her that she had hurt my feelings and I repeated this to her. But she seemed totally unaware of how this could be.

Then I looked in her eyes and began to feel very sorry for her because I knew then she had lived in a very angry life style were such behaviour was considered quite normal. I also saw in her eyes the picture of a young teenager and realised her family had been the victim of clerical sex abuse. This was why she struggled with saying the rosary and the Church. This is why she had wanted 'discussion' , rather than prayer.

I learnt then the following from this dream about the Warning.

That te graces will not be once only and then we will be left alone; they will be ongoing and very powerful.

Some folks will have a huge struggle about returning to the faith.

That good Catholics will be led to holiness that the holy will be led to sanctity and that we all will be called to act as apostles.

That at the end of the day we will have to return after these huge graces to act by faith as in the beginning.

That those who resist these graces and refuse them will be like devils incarnate.

I think it is very providential that Pope Benedict is declairing
a "year of Faith" this coming October!

Newly installed Bishop of Buffalo speaks prophetically at his installation Mass:

“We need the martyrs’ conviction and courage, tenacity and selflessness – and, yes, hope – to stand up in our increasingly relativistic society in defense of these truths and values so threatened in our time,” he said during the more than two-hour ceremony in St. Joseph Cathedral.

Prophecy takes courage. it is the easiest thing in the world to give the glad hand; the hardest to give the hard word of prophecy. How rare the true prophetic word!! how reluctant those who receive it to discern it or pass it on.

I was at a funeral recently at that of a gentleman who had hardly ever been at Mass since he was a child. The priest said , giving the glad word that this guy was in heaven.....the glad word. But I thought to myself, 'How do you know he is in heaven? Where did you get this starling information..?

But it was the glad word, the smile and the glad hand. So easy to give, prophesy and the hard word ;so difficult.

Padre Pio used to spend five hours in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament every single night. Now there was a guy unafraid to speak prophetically, to give the hard, straight word that cuts and heals souls!!

Great video - Padre Pio - always inspirational.

Wonderful quote from Padre Pio that if God were to lift His finger from our lives we would be worse than the worst of sinners - how absolutely true. Here but for the grace of God go I !

I did the same thing -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_about_nuclear_issues

The only movies in the above list that mention Iran are as follows [and very tenuous at that!]

    1. Countdown to Looking Glass - which mentions a short battle between USA airforce and enemy warplanes supposedly from Kuwait or Iraq

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countdown_to_Looking_Glass

    2. The Peacemaker [1997] - mention of a nuclear bomb destined for Iran but USA not mentioned in the movie:

    :) Hello

Some ancient references (clear or veiled) to the warning (quoted from a book of Thomas W. Petrisko):

    The Venerable Holzhauzer (d. 1658)

The Hand of the Almighty God will work a marvellous change, something apparently impossible to human understanding.

Blessed Anna Maria Taigi (d. 1836)

A great purification will come upon the world preceded by an "illumination of conscience" in which everyone will see themselves as God sees them.

    Father Bernard Maria Clausi, O.F.M. (d. 1849)

Before the triumph of the Church comes, God will first take vengeance on the wicked, especially the godless. It will be a new "judgement" the like as never been seen before, and it will be universal.

    Prophecy of Mayence (d. 1854)

The good God shall save all. It will be like a sign of the Last Jugement.

Teresa Neumann, Bavarian stigmatist of the early part of the XXth century, reffering to a future time of warnings, said: "Our Lord Himself called it a Minor Judgement".

In the approved apparitions of Heede (Germany), in the 1940's, Jesus said to the girls: "I will come with my Peace. With a few faithfull I willbuild up my My Kingdom. As a flash of lightning this Kingdom will come... much faster than mankind will realize. I will give them a special light. For some this light will will be a blessing; for others darkness. The light will come like the star that showed the way to the wise man. Mankind will experience My love and My power. I will show them My Justice and My Mercy. My dearly beloved children, the hour comes closer and closer."

In another message in Heede: "It will be terrible, a Minor Judgement". "I will make Myself known to men. Every soul shall recognize me as their God."
