Novena to St Padre Pio for Pope Francis

Discussion in 'Prayer requests' started by Maria Faustina, Jul 25, 2016.

  1. I have began to pray novena for Pope Francis not to take part in the celebration of the 500 year anniversary of Lutheran reformation in Lund, Sweden on 31 October 2016. As cardinal Müller puts it "“we Catholics do not have any reason to celebrate October 31, 1517, the beginning of the Reformation that led to the rupture of Western Christendom.”

Let's pray that God will prevent this to happen. Hope someone will join this novena. Thanks!

Thanks to Maria Faustina and Light. I will do the novena but probably won't start until Sunday when I can be confident that I will be able to do the nine days in a row without fear of missing a day.

This anniversary is going to happen any way. I have no time for the Lutheran way and its heresy and I am sure Pope Francis is well versed in its destructive effect. But He also knows that in all things God works for the Good. He also knows that The Father ran out to welcome the prodigal back - he went out when his son was yet a long way off. He met him far more than half way. The Pope is not celebrating the heresy of Lutherans but the potential for good in their return to The True Faith. They have already taken steps in this direction and Pope Francis will try to make the most of their efforts. He will not betray or sell The True Faith short not will he belittle any genuine attempt attempt to return. Perhaps the novena would be better directed at asking for God's will to be done in any exchange that takes place between Lutheran leaders and The Pope at this time. We do not know what is best. God does. I repeat Our Pope will not celebrate heresy but I bet my bottom dollar that there are those on this forum who will celebrate this opportunity to accuse him of that crime. Perhaps they forget that it is a mortal sin to deliberately and falsely accuse the Pope of heresy of any kind. The interpretations of previous exchange have perverted the truth. I am sure this will happen again. Blessed is our Holy Father when people speak all kind of calumny against him for all that he does for the sake of The Kingdom of God. In this way many have already apostatized and visited this sin upon their children.
I understand you concerns and am not accusing you Maria Faustina of any of this but I know what happens here on MOG.

  7. Hi, Joe. You are very optimistic. I think the Pope will applause and praise the Lutherans in Sweden. I understand that they are our brothers and sister as anybody else, but hmm... the timing is not right. Think about it. Why not choose another time to discuss ecumenical matters, eh!
During my novena, I prayed as you proposed (maybe not every day, but anyway). I used to like Pope Francis and tried to find excuses for his sayings, but at the end I had to face the truth. Just one example:
    Where is Peter?

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Joe, I did read somewhere that the Lutheran and Roman Catholic Theologians had resolved the issues that had caused the split 500 years ago. I think it was to do with Faith with good works expected by Rome as leading to salvation and Luther insisting Faith alone leads to salvation. I might be wrong of course.

But if what I read was correct, the cause of the split has been resolved. I don't know how long it took Christians to reject each other 500 years ago when the original rupture occurred. But surely if the Theologians have resolved the dispute and can restore relations and work towards unity again, we have a duty in the sight of God to pray for His blessing on a full restoration. God knows it will take a miracle to get all the Lutherans to wake up to the Truth and forget the poison from the pulpits for so many years. Surely Catholics are more versatile when it comes to healing the deep wounds caused by all this.
The Lutherans will have to open their hearts to Mary and the Immaculate Conception among other things. The Lutherans will have to open their hearts to the Holy Living Sacrifice of the Mass. For them it is a far greater leap in the dark to arrive at the True Light than it is for us Catholics. God enlighten us all. And maybe the Warning is just the job to wake us all up to the real presence of Jesus in Holy Eucharist. I don't think Lutherans are alone on not believing the real presence these days. A lot of Catholics need a wake up call there too. :notworthy:

  9. It was about the justification, but the problems and differences was not solved entirely in 1999.

The two partners in dialogue are committed to continued and deepened study of the biblical foundations of the doctrine of justification. They will also seek further common understanding of the doctrine of justification, also beyond what is dealt with in the Joint Declaration and the annexed substantiating statement. Based on the consensus reached, continued dialogue is required specifically on the issues mentioned especially in the Joint Declaration itself (JD 43) as requiring further clarification in order to reach full church communion, a unity in diversity, in which remaining differences would be „reconciled“ and no longer have a divisive force. Lutherans and Catholics will continue their efforts ecumenically in their common witness to interpret the message of justification in language relevant for human beings today, and with reference both to individual and social concerns of our times. We are all entitled to our opinion Maria F.

Rather than an optimist, which on this forum implies lack of reason, I see myself as a realist.
It is not my job to change minds but to let others see there is another way to see.

You stick with lifesitenews. I will stick with the truth as I have been led to see it.

Your comment confirms what I said in mine. No more on this from me.

Julia, as ever you make your piints well and as ever I am sorry to say I too pressed for time to reply in detail. I suspect that if Lutheran leaders respond well to the Vatican it will provide a lesson in conversion for those many Catholics who you so rightly say do not believe in the real presence. If they do not respond well our good and true Faith will stand.
I have just invited a good Methodist friend who has become alienated from her church to join our RCIA. She declined because she hates the idea of communion from a priest. Now there's protestant for you.

I an gettin late for work again Faustina but I must change my mind and add to my comment. The last question you ask cinfirms my opinion that lifesitenews and those who doubt the integrity and efficacy and wisdom of our pope are truly blind. To ask "where is Peter" is nothing less than denial. Most good Catholics see Francis as a wonderful example of Peter who is more alive and well in pope Francis than ever.

Comments: Pope is efficient and "alive", yes. The dichotomy 'good' and 'bad' is irrelevant. There are good Catholics in both sides! What I meant by saying "where is Peter" is, that for me "Peter" is a Pope, who is loyal and faithful to the faith, doctrine and tradition of the Holy Catholic Church. How many times our current Pope is speaking against this? I'm in a good company with those priests, bishops, cardinals and lay Catholics who stick to our faith and Magisterium. The Pope can not change these by his talks, homilies or sayings. No. We have our Catechism to read and follow & the Bible interpreted by the Church.

Bergoglio is a Pope, but I wonder where is the charisma of the chair of Peter? -- Not to confuse with human charisma:).

This is enough and if someone wants to continue about this subject start a new thread. I have spoken.

Indeed you have spoken and the day will cone when you will wish you had not. And to call your Pope Bergoglio ....who do you think you are?
