I've long thought the unelectable Bacik the intellect behind the implementation of full-on liberalism within the Labour Party aided by the ultra-Marxist infiltrators from the Workers Party/Democratic Left (remember when those ghouls used to regularly visit their friends in East Germany?). I reckon the newer generation of Labourite, such as Kelly and Amadan O' Riordain are high in self-regard but low in political cunning and expect a trouncing for them in this election. Whatever replaces them will not be good but hardly worse. What can be worse than abortion-on-demand, no-upper-limit Islamic immigration, homosexual "marriage" and transgenderism in schools? If something more transgressive appeared they would enthusiastically embrace it anyway.

There are a lot of our current Germanophilic, Apple-licking political establishment I would shed few tears for if they were swinging from a mast (any telephone or electric pole would do)!

YUP!!! Bro Al .... I saw this  ............ but it's just another "SIGN" that THE STORM is upon us all. Much of what we assume will be "there for us"... Won't be!! ... be it our folks in the military, government... or even church! We will have no option but to put our Trust-n-Faith in God and take That Next Right Step as Charlie J. likes to go-on about :)

I hope you're right about O'Riordan. Their agenda will be repealing the 8th, they could combine an amendment to allow euthanasia with that referendum, and abolishing tax relief for donations to the Church. They are already well advanced in getting their hands on the schools but they want to pick and choose which schools because the well heeled atheists who really call the shots won't want their kids mixing with Eritreans, Afghans and Somalis who won't be living around the corner from them.

It is extremely difficult for us here to imagine that there are evil people that wake every morn with nothing on their minds other than the furtherance of UNLIMITED ABORTION and the smearing of, litigating against and/or persecution of PRO-LIFE CITIZENS ...... or even Doritos' Super Bowl ad that humanizes babies in the womb! These Evil People exist! They exist in Planned Parenthood, Houston, the Democrat Party USA ..... and probably in your neighborhood!

To complain about that cute commercial "humanizing a fetus" (how do you humanize a human?) proves they are under diabolical deception and the storm IS raging all around us on a daily basis. The storm IS here, I fear many are sitting around waiting for Our Lord and Lady to knock on their door with a personal invitation to come to a refuge personally prepared for
them. The signs are all there for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

"Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come."

Crewdog, you are our personal "Paul Revere", keep sounding the alarm, brother!! :)

I think they've just announced a ceasefire in Syria. We'll see if it works.

Meanwhile, we have this: "Founding members say European Union is in bad shape" http://www.reuters.com/article/us-eu-founders-meeting-idUSKCN0VI249 Who would've thunk it, and whose fault is it anyway?

The founding members brought it all upon themselves. Now economic ruin and resurgent nationalism will hopefully finish this evil empire.

As for Syria, I doubt Jihadists, particularly ISIS, do ceasefires. Except, perhaps, as a means of gaining advantage for a renewed assault. Islam has a diffuse concept of "truth".

Interesting to read that this may be the coldest St. Valentines Day on record in parts of the US.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...tates-brace-record-breaking-cold-weekend.html

It seems like a metaphor to our times. There is a great coldness and darkness about the world today. The only cure to the coldness is the warmth of the Sun- no not that Sun, but THE SON! The world needs the love of Jesus and the mercy of Jesus to melt the coldness of hearts. Valentines day is often about flowers and chocolates and cards. And these are fine and good things. But I think this year I will especially remember and pray that the Son's love melt my coldness and pray for the continued conversion and melting of the hearts within my own family.

I once heard this beautiful song by Bette Midler sung with "Christian" lyrics that reflect the love of the Son (I wish it was on youtube). But, I think if yiu listen and replace the lyrics in your own head and heart with Christ's love and our heartaches, you'll get the point

We use this song in our Retrouvaille weekends. It is always one of the most powerful moments.

Economic ruin might finish it off, but nationalism won't. The conservatives in France united to defeat Le Pen's party in the recent election. The same is likely to happen across Europe. To be honest, some of those nationalist parties wouldn't be my cup of tea. The best we can hope for is that they will put enough pressure on the mainstream parties to make them take a step back but I fear it will be all window dressing to soothe people's fears.

Under public pressure, the French government has introduced measures to withdraw the citizenship of terrorists. This is a result of polls showing that Hollande wouldn't make it past the first round in next year's presidential election. It's just a sap. Initially, it was supposed to strip French citizenship from those with dual nationality but the actual proposal would apply to those who only hold French citizenship, rendering them stateless in breach of international law. It is unlikely to be passed by the Upper House of the French Parliament and if if it does the first person it applies to will spend years in court appeals. It should drag out long enough for Hollande to appear tough on terrorism leading up to the election.

Another Northern country (Sweden, I think) brought in a law that would see anyone travelling to join a terrorist group sent to prison for two years. Two years in a cushy Swedish prison isn't much of a deterrent to a suicidal jihadist.

The nationalism I was thinking of was more particularly that which exists in the East, with Hungary, Poland and others beginning to assert themselves. I also think it will surge very strongly in the West in the event of economic collapse as nations strive not to be financially raped by the (increasingly chaotic and desperate) Germans once again. It will be every man for himself and the devil take the hindmost. I wouldn't say nationalism will necessarily be beneficial, but it will certainly be antithetical to the survival of European union.

We can only hope and pray. It's heresy these days to be sceptical of the EU. This is one of those times that I wish I could turn back the clock. I voted to join. I remember how they sold it as a sign that we had grown up as a nation, that our young population would bring job creating companies, that our indigenous industry would thrive, and that we would see an end to emigration. All true for a few decades until we were lulled into a position where the notion of independence scares us. We should hang our heads in shame as this Easter marks the centenary of those who proclaimed independence "In the name of God and the dead generations who went before us".

Not to get into the politics, but as more and more job losses occur to lower wage countries, the middle class in US will continue to shrink. This cycle is only going to lead to anger, chaos , and I believe violence. This country is already polarized and as big MNC like Caterpillar make these "business decision" ( code for senior management saving their jobs and keeping wealth in hands of the rich), the fabric of country is dying. Check out the anger in the video in story below. It's seething yet under control - but you just sense it ready to explode.

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/12/news/companies/carrier-moving-jobs-mexico-youtube/index.html

My parents generation had jobs for life at companies- there was a mutual synergy and respect and trust. In my generation, this began to deteriorate. There were still some companies that did the right things, but fewer and fewer. Today, for my kids, there us no such thing as loyalty and trust to a company. Perhaps, they are better off than me who had that illusion. They know the reality that companies and employers merely use them for profit. It's why so many seek self employment or small start ups. But in a sense it's a shame and a loss in that they have so little to put their faith and trust in. And maybe this is exactly why this is being allowed to happen by God. I know I probably trusted too much and devoted too much time to my job. Relied upon it and maybe even "worshipped" it- it became my identify. When instead my value, my identity should be a son of the Father, a brother in Christ. My reliance should be on Him. So, yes, we are going into unchartered and painful times. But , I hope that our young people recognize these times and become the leaders of our day in turning to God. I fear, however, that, as the US election approaches and these types of incidents occur, they will cause voters to turn to politicians as " Saviors" rather than to Our Lord. Sorry fir the rambling thoughts but these events are challenging. Praying!

Now Miker! Don't be falling for The Democrat Party Rich vs Poor divisive blame game. Anybody that thinks that the USA is The Land of Un-Fettered Capitalism is just plain ignorant of the facts. The USA has the highest corporate tax rate in the Western World! Add in over regulation, corrupt union/government officials and The War on Coal /Oil (cheap energy)! We quite simply have a toxic environment for business, big-n-small, and the high paying jobs that go with it! Those "Evil Rich" Company Guys have a legal fiduciary duty to protect the company and share holders. Government can print $$$, tax, borrow, spend and act in ways that would have businessmen prosecuted and jailed! Focus your anger, prayers and vote in the right direction!
