I have attended the Mother of Perpetual Help Novena in Galway for over 25 years. You are blessed that yours is in the summer months Padraig, ours is always in the 1st week of Februrary, when it's almost guaranteed that the weather will be inclement!

Watched the 9:30pm Clonard Novena last night , and offered my prayers for everyone's intentions.

I usually pray for the conversions of sinners beginning with myself via St. Gertrudes prayer for the Holy Souls!

 

I always pray for the worst sinner in the world ,Miriam. Perhaps I am praying for myself.

I notice this year they are doing a lot of praying for a four year old boy called, 'Noah' who has cancer. I think these mass prayer sessions of I don't know maybe 40,000 people praying for him can only be very powerful. I'd love to hear of a miracle.

 

It's here now! The HHS mandate will be enforced starting the summer. This is the moment of no return when Catholic institutions either comply with Obamas contraception and abortion mandate or don't. If they don't, then they are fined or imprisoned. It begins.

 

BO is not content with making us (USA) miserable, he has to go to the benevolent Island of Ireland to insult and make the Catholics there miserable, too. What a wretch, when will it end?

This is what my daughter brought home from her Catholic school. I have been getting frustrated with different situations that have happened in my kids school the past couple of years. It seems it is slowly becoming a public school that happens to have 30 min religion class. Does anyone else send their children to Catholic schools and have similar experience? We live in a pretty liberal diocese, but our priest is very devout. View attachment 4044

 

We send our kids to catholic school for k-5.. NEVER had anything even close to this

 

My kids go to public school and most of their teachers are Catholic. Never in the 12 years that they have attended have they had anything like that given to them.

It is very frustrating,. Apparently the school is doing away with the traditional catholic curriculum in all areas of study except theology. So they are basically getting the same curriculum as the public school. Another example.... During prayer time my son prayed for the souls suffering in purgatory... His teacher responded to him "I don't think we do that anymore".... She is Catholic. I am paying for a Catholic education for my kids and I am pretty certain we are getting ripped off... There are good things also... But this kind of stuff grinds my gears. If we leave the diocese to attend a different Catholic school, we are looking at about a 40 min drive to school.... Why are the schools getting so lax with the catechism???

 

Little me... I am starting to think public school might be the way to go... I just worry about sending my kids to a place where God is not welcome...

 

My kids go to Catholic school, and I've not seen an assignment like that come home. But, our school is becoming less Catholic, so I could see it happening in the future. When we started, penmanship workbooks would cover Catholic teachings and they were woven into other subjects as well. Unfortunately, our diocese has adopted Common Core and all that went away.

I want to keep my kids in Catholic schools because I just can't take what is being taught as acceptable in the public schools, but I am likely switching them to a more conservative school. It's still adheres to Common Core, but they are much better at teaching the Catholic religion. The junior high kids I meet from there are really knowledgeable and are excited about their faith, and I don't see that in our current school.

 

Please pray for my son. He is in dire need may need a miracle. I am asking Padre Pio to please find BIG help -- you can guess what that is .
I am distraught and can only help through prayer as he is not even sensible anymore and lives thousands of miles away.

Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before you with the pain of our broken children, we are anguished and don't know what to do.
Please help them so that they do not despair and give up. Give them hope, give them a reason to keep trying, please ease their pain.
Please also help us to accept their brokenness and to find You in the ugliness. You are there with them, as you are with us right now.
(I dont know what you are dealing with with your son, but I have a daughter with schizophrenia so I know...)

Well!!!!!!!!!

I have so much I could say regarding both Ang's dilemma and RoryRory's so I will just put it as succinctly as I can.

I had all my children put through the primary catholic schools system here in Australia and than the majority of my children got to go to the secondary Catholic schools here in our Diocese, only four had the oportunity to experience the public school system.

By the time our 3rd daughter (sixth child) was going through the same malarkey/brainwashing garbage that I had fought by writting many letters requesting explanations for gross maleducation in the catholic faith and also having had some success in actually changing some of the Catholic education curriculum taught changed, so that it reflected Catholic belief: I decided for her soul and my sanity, when Amy was in grade 5, that I would put her into the public school system, as I was tired of fighting the system and countering every new forgien belief that my children came home with!

Amy was about 11 years of age I then moved my youngest daughter, Brodie, into the public school system, after she recieved all of the sacraments in year 2, she was aged 7 years.

I realised I had more control of their faith and their self esteem in these public schools! Isn't that amazing!!!

I would have moved all my boys as well only most of them refused because of friends ect.



I wish I had known what Archbishop Fulton Sheen had said.....‘If you want your children to fight for their faith, send them to public school. If you want them to lose their faith, send them to Catholic school.’



I would not have agonised so much over the decision about taking them out of the catholic school system which was a soul destroying environment at that time!

Our Lady has my children and my grandchildren under her mantle and this has been shown to me in many ways; however I pray deeply for the souls of my adult children as they have gone through the valley of mind and cultural torture that is something I did not have to experience.

I see the pain and agony that they are subjected to because of the rubbish they were taught! at the so called catholic schools over many years.

I will elaborate on this further if you want your toe nails to curl.

 

I have also witnessed many times the graces given my children when faced with difficult situations in school. I've given my kids to the Virgin Mary (as she is always with them and I cannot be) and she is surprising me in ways I never thought possible! My 11th grade son explained to me just last week why HE THOUGHT sex does not belong outside of marriage. The beauty is HE pondered this and HE came to this conclusion- not "mom and dad say". Mary is doing a fine job indeed!

 

Just smack me if this is inappropriate to ask but what happened with your son? Did he lose his faith?

 

I think that like a couple of my children he might be experimenting with drugs.

This is so very painful as I know the horror that this entails and the pain that roryrory might be experiencing.
