I just read this article. I think the author, Fr. McTeague, plans to continue on his theme of prophesy and prophets. I know that I often focus on the mystical future-predicting aspects of prophesy, but this article really hit a few notes with me that a prophet speaks the words of God. They speak them out if their "humanness" and so maybe it akways isn't "theologically" correct. But, yet they speak what God wants us to hear. I especially was drawn to the point that a prophet balances the ideas of God's judgement and mercy. I think of the words that CJ, Mark Mallett and a few other prophets have said to us recently. Yes, in many ways maybe they are here not just to warn, but to preoare and encourage the remnant? I think in particular, this has been what CJ has said his role will be. Finally, as baptized Christian Catholics, we are called to be priest, prophet and Kings! I don't necessarily think we all will be formally called to be prophets, but because of our baptism, we do need to be willing in the midst of the darkness to be light. To be God's voice and His hope to a world that will be tossed in the storm. This site itself, maybe a bastion , a refuge, a shelter in the times ahead. http://aleteia.org/2015/09/16/to-be-a-prophet-is-a-blessing-and-a-burden/
Prophets are also called to be, 'A Sign of Contradistion'. Destined to be rejected and face death. Mary in our present times is a Great Sign of Contradiction...destined to be rejected ...by many Luke 2:34 The Prophecy of Simeon …33And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. 34And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed-- 35and a sword will pierce even your own soul-- to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed."
I have pondered on that very line,, what is behind its meaning ?? More so recently, I have been hit on the head with a sledgehammer since last week, out of the blue the seven dolor rosary has been handed to me, brought up in conversation and I have been even quizzed by my own mother where the Dolor came from.. Now I know this has not happened by chance so please God may I have the grace to earnestly embrace this special request from Our Holy Mother,,I hope I can make her smile..
Brother Miker, It is hard to believe but we are called to be priest, prophets and kings. Our mistake is not undersanding the meaning of "prophet".... we think prophets have to declare some great message. What greater message then declaring our faith. By declaring our faith we become true prophets. John the Baptist was the greatest prophet... he was declaring the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ. True prophets live, breath and communicate Gods word. The mention of wordly events are not the focus of a true prophet. This is where most of us get deceived. God wants me to do this, God wants me to do that. No God wants you to be a saint. If He wants you to do something "out of the ordinary" he will tell you. Brother al
