Here here on the common sense!! I'm of the mind, a LOT of people have finally had it knocked into their heads to stay home when not feel well!! With my family being staunch Biden supporters, plus living with my healthy 87 yr old Dad, I "joined" him today getting a flu shot. I'm hanging around with peopl closely...warranting that further precaution.
Yes. I Was already taking it prior to Covid because I have an auto immune disease. My doctor had already prescribed it for me and that's why I take even more than just those supplements. I think I had it in the spring though but was never tested. I increased vit. C and D immensely for 5 days and them reduced it slightly but continued on it and also took other vitamins and got better ...it was scary though.
This year was my third time to get the 'flu vaccine. I'm not that pushed about getting the 'flu vaccine but I made sure to get it early this year because I have heard that doctors are sending people for covid tests if they have 'flu or heavy cold symptoms and that would mean self-isolating until I receive the test results. Some people get their test results very quickly but I have heard of people waiting weeks for the result. I wonder have the covid regulations (masks, sanitisers, etc) resulted in reduction in the people catching colds, 'flu and other viruses. I take Vitamin D3 and zinc. I also take magnesium because the chemist recommended taking it along with Vitamin D (nothing to do with covid). Recently I've been taking a pill containing lutein as a preventative measure against age related macular degeneration. Some days I forget to take any of them so I hope I have build up enough reserves in my system over the past few months. Banning public Masses is OTT. I take a family member to hospital outpatient clinics. The elevator in the hospital would fit in a corner of our church porch and it wouldn't be noticed. Three people are allowed in that elevator. Sometimes we get fish 'n' chips or a burger on the way home from the hospital. The place we buy the chips isn't half the size of our church porch, yet there could be four or more people there waiting to be served. They can open because they serve food. They have customers coming and going all day. Going to Mass isn't nearly as risky but I suppose the people who banned public Masses don't go to Mass except maybe at Christmas when the churches are packed.
This genius wants to move Christmas to January: Mother Ireland is rearing them yet. I enjoyed the comments.
There is no excess mortality in 2020. Covid deaths are tiny on a global scale. There have been flu seasons just as bad with regard to mortality.
In Northern Ireland at present there are 400 covid patients in hospital. There are 5779 hospital beds. That means 7% of beds are taken up with covid patients at present. And yet all is in lockdown.
I have had a look at deaths registered North of Ireland in October. The registrar states that covid deaths include any death where covid was mentioned anywhere on death cert including suspected and confirmed covid cases. In other words if a Doctor suspects covid it can be put down on death certificate. This info is from General Registrar Office. If someone tests positive for covid 28 days before they die they are a covid death even though they died of something else. There was a case here where a 19 year old died of a heart attack and was labelled first covid teenage death - - - headlines in local papers. The family were furious. He had tested covid negative before he died but had been positive a number of weeks before. He died of a heart attack unrelated to covid. https://www.irishnews.com/news/nort...teen-was-covid-negative-when-he-died-2114079/
Same here Dolours. The inconsistencies are brain numbing! My "hypocrisy meter"is running in the red zone constantly
Yes, thanks to the spin and inconsistencies, it's hard to figure out what's what. We may never know how many people actually died from covid. I think it very likely that the number of deaths was nflated especially during the first wave because it seems that anyone who died with the disease was counted among those who died from the disease. At the same time it's wrong to say that covid didn't cause their death if they had a co-morbidity when we don't know whether they could have lived on had they not caught the virus. And I'm not convinced by comparing overall death rates this year with previous years. Increased death numbers could be down to lack of diagnosis or treatment for non-related covid illnesses due to all the focus on covid. A decrease in overall death numbers could be down to fewer road deaths due to fewer people travelling, fewer deaths from industrial accidents due to lockdowns and fewer deaths from other viruses due to the covid precautions. The lack of balanced, unbiased journalism only contributes to the confusion and distrust of authority.
I do think shutdown grossly exasperates infection. It's so easy to get lost in the weeds & briars of this. Such a distraction from where our focus should be. This forum is great for that reminder!!
with everyone social distancing and masking we should see a huge drop in Flu cases and Norovirus. No students in schools in most of my state. I am an elementary school nurse and my kids are sent in sick all the time so parents can get to work (preCovid). They are given tylenol and told to NOT go to the nurse under ANY circumstances. The teachers can see a sick child from a mile away. They send them down and they are 104 after tylenol wears off. Then try and get them to pick them up when they work in Manhattan. Oh, I'll be there in 2 hours :0
Yep. So true. I feel very sorry for working mothers and those pressures. I was blessed to stay home with my children for quite awhile. It was a financial sacrifice but SO worth it. Especially when they were sick.
