The following article from John Lackin of The Lumen Fidei Institute rings a chord for those who know their Irish history - we have a allowed a Trojan Horse into our land. There are many people in Ireland who labour under the illusion that they live in a democracy where power derives from the people and is given as a privilege to those who govern us. This is far from the reality that exists in Ireland. We now live in a totalitarian state. The free online dictionary defines totalitarianism as “a form of government in which the political authority exercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of life, the individual is subordinated to the state, and opposing political and cultural expression is suppressed. They then quote the American historian Arthur M Schlesinger Jr, who said, "A totalitarian regime crushes all autonomous institutions in its drive to seize the human soul" Anyone with eyes can see that this is fast becoming true of the Ireland in which we now live. We are fed with platitudes and lies from those in power and told that we live in a democracy. But if the people happen to vote against the wishes of those in power, their vote will be ignored, and they will be asked to vote again in order to bring their vote into line with the wishes of the ruling elite. Our elected representatives are men who follow an ideological agenda which is set by a ruling class outside of Ireland. The privately-owned mainstream media becomes a mouthpiece for this foreign ruling power’s governmental agenda, and the mainstream media is also used to control our elected representatives and to crush any and all opposition to the imposed ideology. They wage an incessant propaganda war on faithful Catholics and on our families, particularly the children whom they wish to indoctrinate early in their lives, as this makes them easier to control in later life. People are seen as units of production for the economic enterprises of the ruling class, and those who cease to be productive are eventually either forced to work for the state’s economic machine or else they are eliminated from society always in the name of a false compassion and with slogans such as ‘death with dignity’, and ‘every child a wanted child’. The English author and historian Hilaire Belloc wrote about this in his essay ‘The New Paganism’. He is worth quoting at length on this, as it clearly shows us the path that the ‘new’ Ireland is on. “In the sphere of social texture the New Paganism must also inevitably and of its nature, wherever it gives its tone to society, reintroduce that status of slavery from which our civilization sprang and which only very gradually disappeared under the influence of the Christian ethic.
This revival of slavery must not be confused with the spread of mechanical restriction applicable to all. They are cousins, but they are not identical. Slavery is the compulsion of one man or set of men to work for the benefit of others. It is a compulsion to work, backed by the arms of the State. The way has been prepared for it by that already half-Pagan thing, industrial capitalism, of which I write on a later page; and the steps whereby the New Paganism will achieve slavery develop naturally from industrial capitalism. It is a thesis I have developed at greater length in my book, The Servile State; I here only touch on it as a main social result to which the New Paganism will give birth. That this novel status will bear the name "slavery" I doubt; for it is in the nature of mankind, when they are proceeding to call that good which once they called evil, to avoid the old evil name. In the same way fornication is not called fornication but "companionate marriage." Probably slavery, when it comes, will be called "permanent employment"; and a century hence, a rich man will say to his friends, talking of his new gardener: "He's a permanent. Paid for him at the Bureau only last Thursday." In the form of security and sufficiency for the men who labour to the profit of others, and in the form of registering and controlling them in the form of an organized public supervision of their labour, slavery is already afoot. When slavery shall succeed it will succeed through the acquiescence of those who will be enslaved, for they will prefer sufficiency and security with enslavement, to freedom, responsibility, insecurity and the threat of insufficiency.” (Hilaire Belloc – The New Paganism - 1931) Our Lord warned us, “No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24) In abandoning God, and in dethroning Christ as Sovereign King of our nation, the Irish people have willingly enslaved themselves to mammon and to the prince of this world. Christ tells us that it is His Truth that sets us free, but men, even though they desire freedom, too often abandon the God who gives them their freedom. Too often men listen to the voice of the serpent who told Eve “No, you shall not die the death. For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil. (Genesis 3:4-5)
Next year, possibly in May, our government proposes to delete article 41:2 of our constitution by way of a referendum, which article states, 41:2 1° in particular, the state recognises that by her life within the home, woman gives to the state a support without which the common good cannot be achieved. 2° the state shall, therefore, endeavour to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labour to the neglect of their duties in the home. This article recognises the role of wives and mothers and it also recognises that mothers have duties towards their families. The article does not compel women to stay at home, it does not compel women to avoid paid work, it does not compel women to do anything. It simply recognises the immense value of motherhood, a value that is far greater than any paid employment a woman may do, and it forces the government to make sure that those women who choose to stay at home looking after their families, are not compelled to seek work outside the home through economic necessity. This article protects fathers, mothers and families and allows them to flourish. The question must be asked, ‘why does the government seek to remove this protection from mothers?’ The answer will be found in Ireland’s policy of ‘tax individualisation’. Currently in Ireland, one spouse can give most of the benefit of their tax credits to the other spouse, which reduces the amount of tax paid in a single income home and allows one spouse to stay at home to look after their family. It used to be the case that all of the tax-free allowance could be transferred to the ‘working’ spouse, but a previous government changed that in order to ‘encourage’ more married women to enter the workforce. The interests of business and the economy were put before the interests of children and families. If article 41:2 is removed, the government will no longer be compelled to ensure that mothers will not be obliged to work outside of the home, and so pressure will be put on the stay at home mothers to enter employment. Financial pressure at first, and then social pressure, ‘look at her wasting her time at home funded by the taxpayer’. Read Hilaire Belloc again on the reintroduction of slavery, this is what is being proposed in the name of emancipation of women. They will be free to become slaves to the economy. Another example of the totalitarian state currently in evidence in Ireland is the “Provision of Objective Sex Education Bill 2018” which is currently at third stage in the Oireachtas. The introduction to the Bill says it is “An Act to guarantee the right of students to receive factual and objective relationships and sexuality education without regard to the characteristic spirit of the school” Remember the totalitarian state seeks total control over all aspects of life. Here they wish to disregard the Catholicity of Catholic schools and to impose a secular view of human sexuality on children with no regard for the parents. They speak of the ‘right’ of students, whilst ignoring the superior right of parents to educate their children as and how they deem appropriate. Section 9(d) of the education act is to be amended. It currently says that schools shall “promote the moral, spiritual, social and personal development of students and provide health education for them, in consultation with their parents, having regard to the characteristic spirit of the school” This is to be amended by inserting the clause “with the exception of relationships and sexuality education,”. In other words, the state will take total control of relationships and sexuality education, it will not consult with parents or abide by the ‘characteristic spirit of the school’. When I was growing up, we called those adults who wanted to discuss sex with children ‘perverts.’ Now this perversion is to be enshrined into our laws. If parents object, they will be told that this is in the best interests of their children and the law will be used to try to overrule parent’s wishes.
Yet another example of this state totalitarianism, concerns the Irish bishop’s marriage preparation and counselling organisation, ‘ACCORD’. Prior to the marriage referendum of 2015, ACCORD had its funding cut. Of course, the government said it had nothing to do with the Church’s opposition to same-sex ‘marriage’, but who believes that. A totalitarian state brooks no opposition and it seeks to control organisations that oppose its agenda, first by offering them money in order to make them dependent on the state for survival, then it can control them or force them to close by manipulating that funding. Recently, ACCORD has agreed to counsel those in same-sex relationships, otherwise they will lose government funding. You see how it works. The bishops need the money, so they compromise Church teaching in order to stay open and the state increases its control over citizens lives. A spokesman for the Irish bishop’s conference said. “The Accord counselling room is a sacred space where hope can be restored, and healing can begin. Our service is confidential, nondirective and non-judgemental.” What the spokesman is telling us is that ACCORD is not Catholic, because all Catholic agencies and services must ‘direct’ people according to the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church. A Catholic counselling service cannot be ‘non-directive’ and the term ‘nondirective counselling’, is a meaningless phrase coined by those who are promoting abortion and the LGBT agenda, as a means of coercing organisations and individuals to follow these ideological agendas. Imagine telling a heart specialist that he has to be ‘non-directive’ in the advice that he gives to his patients. Even car mechanics are directive in the ‘counselling’ they give to car owners. A woman I spoke to from Cork recently told me that she distributes various leaflets to people in the city. One says, ‘stand up and fight’. This is what Catholics are called to do. We must not only oppose unjust laws, we are called to resist them. Time is running out. Ireland is becoming a very oppressive place for Catholics. Our shepherds seem to be sleeping or else compromising with the secular state. Our children are in danger, God expects us to protect the little ones from those who would cause them harm. Although not the same in every respect it reminds me of Mexico when the Masonic sect took over and the Cristeros rose up. Or Portugal in the early years of the 20th century. Same kind of "soft" repression that wasn't soft at all.

If Catholics don't rise up to fight against this, before a generation has passed it will be next to impossible to find a woman or a man who will understand the benefit to staying home to make the house a home and raise children let alone agree to marry young and in their prime. Women will want to take on both the role of woman and the yoke of labor due to peer social pressure as well as economic pressures. Doing both these things IMO means doing neither all that well. It is nearly non existent here in the US. The allure of materialism and brainwashing of modern cultural morals has seen to it. Birth rates fall off dramatically. The rise of central banks and perpetual inflation sees to it that taxes are constantly rising and wages will never keep up. It has been made very hard to raise a family and keep a home on one income. The solution of every government to this problem is mass immigration. Welcome to the new world order. Yes, garabandal, I can directly relate to the highlights above. It was difficult my beautiful wife, Geralyn, to stay at home to school our children. Article 42A was enshrined in the Irish Constitution after the Children's Referendum back in 2012. It effectively transfers the rights parents have over their children to the state, regardless of the marital status of the parents, and the state can now intervene in family life and put a child up for adoption at any time against the parents wishes. Article 42.2.1 provides that: "In exceptional cases, where the parents, regardless of their marital status, fail in their duty towards their children to such an extent that the safety or welfare of any of their children is likely to be prejudicially affected, the State as guardian of the common good shall, by proportionate means as provided by law, endeavour to supply the place of the parents, but always with due regard for the natural and imprescriptible rights of the child." Who decides what is meant by "prejudically affected" and on what basis do they come to this conclusion?Could the State in the future, for instance, decide that certain religious beliefs held by parents (more than likely Christian or Catholic ones) constitute a prejudicial affect over the welfare of their children? This seems to be the way things are developing at the moment.
Article 42A has also now granted children certain "rights" that the parents have no control or say over by law. It is tied in with the" UN Convention on the Rights of the Child" which has some very shady provisions contained in it. Very dark stuff which is a further assault on the family unit. It seems the Government are laying the foundation with all this stuff over the past number of years for something which will become more apparent in time.
In the early 90's I emigrated to the UK, and when I saw that way of living I began to understand that individuals do need to make personal sacrifices for the good of society. I returned to live in Ireland 5yrs later, but other than the connection with family, all other societal benefits of living here have been eroded. It is almost impossible to have any national pride in a people that only know how to react but have no power of discernment. In my life Ireland has moved from being a second world country to a first world one, and now as long as they is a good broadband connection we are quite happy to be robbed, raped and ridiculed. It is appalling what we expect children to survive and thrive in - absent fathers, selfish mothers, the only publicly agreed moral standard is debauchery, there is no expectation that a mother could ever aspire to stay at home with her children, mental fragility is the new norm... The whole thing seems very contradictory and hard to follow at this stage. For example, one provision in our constitution states: "The State pledges itself to guard with special care the institution of Marriage, on which the Family is founded, and to protect it against attack." And now we have a provision which says: "Marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex." There didn't seem to be much of this "special care" and protection given to Marriage by the State back in 2015 around the time of the referendum.
Chilling. An Anglican priest, wife, and family briefly moved to Ireland around 2012. They didn't stay long. However: This priest an unreliable & selfish person. They don't stay long in any one location. But now I wonder if this had something to do with it.

Eloquent and tragic words Jack. Chilling and sad. Poor poor Irish people. Those who see the truth of this (like you and others on the forum)are like Cassandra on the walls of Troy desperately crying a warning but no one listens and they open their gates and cheer as their Doom enters in. Inexpressibly tragic. I say this as someone who has Irish ancestors who fought to retain their faith and culture. Many of us in the US look on these events with deep sorrow. We are in desperate battle here to retrieve Christian culture. A fight to the death really. But thank God for Mary's promise that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph. For all of us. Though not popular on this forum, the one place I believe one can find refuge and faith in Ireland is the House of Prayer. I know the rumors of Christina and I don't believe them based on my own time spent with her last year. Her long time companion and spiritual director, Father McGinnity, is a very saintly man IMO. I listened to both of them speak over three days and found nothing contrary to our faith teachings and their messages were ones of hope. Two bishops attended along with other priests from Wisconsin. The church was packed with the most prayerful people I have been around in decades. I think she fits the scripture passage: ' no prophet is welcomed in their own town' or country for that matter. I imagine few in Ireland are listening to her messages either.
2012 seems to have been a a particularly bad time for Ireland. A woman's death was used to further the campaign to introduce abortion to Ireland and attack the Church, and there appears to have been a gradual take over and deterioration in other areas ever since.
