Pray and prepare for economic challenges coming very soon. Empty shelves across America will begin shortly and it will grow quickly and significantly in the coming weeks and months. I would not be surprised to see increased panic buying and further shortages as the reality of this situation finally wakes people up. It's not just toys China supplies. Higher prices are coming with shortages and that doesn't include the price increases from the tariffs. These will increase prices on energy, furniture, housing, electronics, automotive. The tourism industry is already seeing a huge drop in visitors and there is no sign of that reversing. This vital industry for many states will also see lay offs grow since many foreigners have stopped visiting and won't be visiting in the near future. The ripple effect of tariffs and isolationist policies will see massive lay offs starting very soon from trucking, warehousing and retailing. I'm conservative and support small government, reduced wasteful spending, ending the woke nonsense and even slowly reversing the influence of China. What Trump is doing, insulting every other counties people, saying we don't need anything from anyone will be the downfall of the world economy. You can't change what has transpired in the world over the last 40 or 50 years in 3 months. Trumps exclusive focus on manufacturing jobs is misguided and reckless. It proves the deal-maker is far from an economist. Pride comes before the fall and you're watching it in real time. I know many here support Trump. The problem isn't what he is doing generally, it's how he is doing it. Playing the victim and the king at the same time is dishonest and it's going to hurt millions of people. He seems to care about lives taken from pointless wars but where is the concern for the millions of jobs, those hoping to retire, those just living paycheck to paycheck. And the comment about using tariffs to eliminate taxes is laughable. Tariffs are a tax and will be way more costly. It's call encompassed in God's permissive Will. But it is really happening and my guess is this is the year it all starts.
Sobering thoughts. From my own personal economic observations prices are continuing to rise where I live. Gas, food, insurance, taxes, utilities and local fees are at unseen levels. We took our grandchildren for ice cream last weekend, nothing fancy, and it cost us just under $100. Housing prices are ridiculous, you can't find a fixer upper for under a half million. Rentals are not only scarce, but the cost has far outpaced the salaries of working families. Home and car repairs are unaffordable, especially for those trying to scrape by on fixed incomes. Companies are reluctant to hire full time employees because they have to provide benefits, so it's all part time or per diem jobs. There are severe staffing issues in the stores and restaurants because no one can afford to exist here. I live in a tourist area, so it will be interesting to see what develops this summer. As far as Trump, he will always be a business man; the dollar comes first with him. As it stands right now I have only seen jobs lost, not created by the Trump administration. I don't know where we will land when all is said and done, but I do know that Trump's job is to protect the rights of American citizens and that includes working for a living, and earning a fair wage to provide for their families. If he cannot create a strong foundation of good jobs for Americans. and get the cost of living under control, our country is in jeopardy.

I'm glad you posted this. It's so easy to get caught up in fear. It's only been 3 months or so. We have to let it play out. If Trump is wrong then he tossed the tariff di ce and lost. We go to plan B. Maybe I am naive but I thing he is playing multi-dimensional chess here. He may be many moves ahead . My husband ( devout Trump hater) was wound up about Alcatraz. I said " he's trolling" It works. "Oh look a squirrel!" and they all go running. I am going to pick up a few things however just in case. I guess we will see how much we actually depend on China.
