Not long ago we moved to Washington State, high up on a mountain surrounded by beautiful, enormous evergreen trees. So far so good but there is a wildfire about 25 miles northwest of our home and it is only 15% contained. This photo was taken on July 8th and the fire has grown since then. Please pray for all of the folks in Oregon and Washington also. We used to live right on the Pacific Ocean and thought that a tsunami had our name on it. Ha!
Scary. May Our Lady wrap her mantle around you and keep you all safe. This must be wildfire season. There was a news report today about a region of Canada having declared a state of emergency because of wildfires there. That looks like a really nice place to live when there are no fires nearby. In contrast, it was cold and wet here today. I had to wear a fleece while hoeing some weeds in the garden. Made the mistake of wearing my sandals so feet were soaked from the wet grass. I didn't stick it out for long and left the weeds to live another day.
djm, I will definitely be praying for you and everyone else in these areas. I probably don't have to say this to you but make a plan for evacuation in advance just in case. I will be praying that it won't be necessary for you to leave your home but it is best to have a thought out plan in case you need to.
Wow! A picture certainly is worth a thousand words and that pic is a rather apocalyptic scene to behold. May God bless you and keep you safe. Prayers for your intentions for those closest to you and all those effected.
Italy is dealing with raging fires also: https://www.rt.com/news/396046-vesuvius-on-fire-smoke-engulfs-volcano/ Some of the photos on that link are quite unbelievable. I have read that there are fires in Calif, Wash., Oregon, B.C. Canada, Italy, etc. http://www.kptv.com/story/35852634/dry-creek-fire-in-washington-burns-400-acres-approaches-homes https://www.rt.com/viral/395994-british-columbia-fire-excape/ http://www.cbsnews.com/news/california-wildfires-force-thousands-to-evacuate/ There are quite a few fires like this around the world at the moment, it's sort of odd.
I know, Carol. It does seem a bit odd. California has always had wildfires but I don't believe that they have been so widespread this early in the summer. As for the rest of the world, it seems to either be under water, on fire, shaking, or exploding. Thanks all for the prayers.
And Colorado. http://www.denverpost.com/2017/07/09/wildfires-burn-across-western-colorado/ Some of the fires appear to be typical and others not so much, either way not good.
This is not on a large scale like a wildfire But my husband and I have noticed an astounding increase in the number of house fires around our area Every day or so a home is burning down It is way above what you would expect. That Plus an increase in car accidents Anyone else noticed this in your area?
Indeed, our joints rust. I can hear my bones creak when going up or down stairs. I wouldn't mind the damp so much if it weren't for the moss. It gathers in the gutters, comes down the drains and gathers on top of the shores. During the next dry spell I'll have a jeyes fluid and bleach day cleaning it off the footpaths. I've surrendered the war against it in the grass. Look on the bright side: at least you aren't guaranteed fires on your doorstep every year. I'll be praying for you and everyone in your area. Will you have to stay awake all night checking for evacuation alerts?
Will do djm, we are in WA as well although the chance of wildfire here is very low we are in a very rural area. It seems like the fires this year are really kicking in and raging. We are hoping for some rain soon. Between the earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunami's and insane social justice warriors I'd say we have all our bases covered here in WA.
No, not tonight. The winds have died down here but I'm concerned for those whose property provides their livelihoods. There are fruit orchards and big fields with wheat and farms with rows of vineyard grapes. It is really a beautiful, fertile landscape. No one has been hurt and no one's home has been destroyed, so all are grateful.
This article is what I was looking for yesterday, it discusses the fires in North America, briefly mentioning all of the states that are involved along with B.C. Canada. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/07/10/thousands-flee-wildfires-in-california-canada-blazes-grow.html
In the book "A Canticle for Leibowitz", the nuclear war in the 60's was called "the flame deluge", to differentiate from Noah's Flood.
Always something new.... A massive atmospheric experiment is planned for August solar eclipse https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-august-solar-eclipse/?utm_term=.b43cce212876
