That is my stance at this point. I am for the first time since I could legally vote not going to vote for president. Unless something radically changes.:(

Yes, the retreat on Life is very sad. At the very least, Trump should commit to a 12 to 15 week or 2nd trimester abortion ban, which polls repeatedly show a majority of Americans in fact support.

"But here’s the thing: Most Americans also agree with the substance of the Republicans’ 2022 “national abortion ban,” according to the latest Gallup Poll. Gallup’s writers chose to tout the post-Dobbs shift in favor of abortion in this poll, but even after this shift, here’s a telling fact: only 37% of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in the second trimester, while 55% say it should be illegal. Lindsey Graham’s proposed “national abortion ban” kicked in at 15 weeks. The poll asked about the “second three months of pregnancy,” which begins in the 13th week. Again, this isn’t new. Gallup has always found that a majority believe second-trimester abortions should be illegal."

Even Lindsey Graham, not that pro-life, understands a bare minimum of 15 weeks is feasible and necessary: "Graham, however, argued that “the pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child — not geography.”

“The science is clear — a child at fifteen weeks is well-developed and capable of feeling pain,” he said. “I will continue to advocate that there should be a national minimum standard limiting abortion at fifteen weeks because the child is capable of feeling pain, with exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother.”

He reiterated his argument that 47 of 50 European countries have national limits on abortions between 12 and 15 weeks.

“This is the civilized world’s position,” he said.

I would rather have Trump as President than another 4 years of Biden or another liberal. I will be voting. It is not a sin.

Ananchal, I would agree that objectively it would be better, and I will not cast stones at anyone who does.

Trump just lost the elections. Again he ignores the Independents. And without their vote, the Democrats win.

I admit I did not listen to the whole 25 min video (right now life is not allowing that luxury) so could you briefly advise what from this video makes you draw that conclusion? Thanks!

The Independent voter was actually leaning towards Trump cause of his anti war record during his Presidency. Unfortunately, Trump recently supported Speaker Johnson’s bill for for more money to Ukraine, and no support for the border. Independents are angry, and most likely will vote instead for RFK Jr, which in essence will help Biden. Why did Trump get involved? He always falls for a trap. We need the Independent vote to win, cause we don’t have the suburban mom’s.

Everything is now insane. Trump is proving his desperation to occupy the White House by even backing ongoing money for the horror and stupidity of Ukraine. You are right, Byron, to say he fell for a trap, but in so doing this erodes his base.
If the voters in the USA are reduced to the lesser of 3 or 4 evils, and the parties in general are subservient to their donors, the Republic has become dysfunctional to the nth degree.

I believe that this will lead the Democrats to nominate a surprise candidate that appears "intelligent and detached" from all the chaos who shall then be elected. I was leaning toward this scenario a month ago, but now I'm convinced.

    Lord have Mercy!

Remember that whoever is the next president will choose the next incumbents of the Supreme Court. Thanks to Trump’s picks we saw Roe overturned. If I were an American voter that would be uppermost in my mind. A second term president won’t be so concerned about popular opinion once he’s elected. One thing we do know is that the baby killing won’t lessen under the Democrats and if the SC shifts, it will bring back Roe.

Great points, we have two senior Justices, Thomas and Sotomayor, who may be replaced by the next president.
