    I accepted the buyer’s offer, the closing date is November 3rd. I informed my lawyer Thursday that I want to back out.

    I'm not sure what country you're in, but most provide for 24 hour to change your mind. Did you notify him within that time-frame?

    I’m in the USA, my lawyer said it is uncommon for a seller to back out, but he had a seller that he represented back out a couple years ago, I will know more Tuesday, I will give an update.

    Either party can back out..ask if there a a law in U.S. for 24-48 hour "cooling period" this cooling period is for whoever signs a contract which you also did..not just the buyer.
