Another piece of news that made me stop and think this week was on the BBC. It reported that the UK's economy is now back in good health and is even stronger than the pre-crisis economy of 5 years ago. My immediate reaction was that this news is not true. I am not an economist and I can't analyse such data, but it is abundantly clear to anyone who can hear and see that there is widespread poverty and lack of hope. As I listened to the news, I became more convinced that we are being lulled into a false security and that in actual fact, a bigger economic crisis is around the corner.

Yup, I totally agree. Last week I heard on the radio that the ECB will, for the first time, publish minutes of their meetings.
    This struck me.
The representatives from each country don't like it as people will say, "Hang on, you voted to do such and such and put the interests if the EU ahead of those of your home country". So, I guessed that something major is coming down the line to justify any nation voting for the " good of the whole above the good if the few " if you know what I mean.

Of yeah Padraig, he actually has a good sense of humor. He actually appears in the film himself - he is one of the chosen few who make it to Hemmingford Home. He arrives driving a little truck. It was my brother who noticed him and when he pointed it out to me it obvious it was Stephen alright.

Yes, I do know what you mean, however, you would think that journalists might question statements that assert full economic recovery. The news was just presented as fact. No-one seemed to be analysing it or challenging it. Crisis ? what crisis ? It's suddenly all over. Nothing to see. Back to work everyone......

Yes that a major problem. The controlled media only report certain issues. For example, the whole story about the resignation of the Ukrainian prime minister. It didn't make the headlines for hours after I read it in twitter.
For me, twitter, Drudgereport.com and infowars.com are honestly the only news source I trust at this point.

I think this is big news. I noticed it in twitter yesterday but news sources didn't pick it up till tonight:
Turkey is to send another humanitarian flotilla to Gaza in spite of the Israeli blockade. The last time this was attempted, the Israelis used deadly force and lives were lost. This time, the flotilla is being escorted by the Turkish Navy to protect its citizens. Israel are reported to have said today that any attempt to break the blockade by the Turkish milliary will be viewed as a declaration of war. Drudge report is calling this a "showdown"

Apparently the devil as he apears in the Stand puts in an appearance in all his novels as well.

Sometimes I wonder of Stephen might have, especially when he was younger have seen a few things himself to give him his ideas. THat he might be psychic or a mystic himself.

Apart from his sense of humour there is a strong moral undercurrent in his writings which not all horror writers have. Good versus evil.

There is one horror writer that's a devout Catholic, Dean Koontz. He has appeared on EWTN TV.

Yep but no need to buy those as I'll have to resist the temptation to tell my wife "see this is why I kept all these" as those clothes finally fit me once again when I get back to, what my dear departed father used to call, my "fighting weight".

Ahhh I didn't know that, I have not read any of his wroks I think.

One thing I like now in literature..and I know this sounds a bit childish is a happy ending. Life can be so hard for people I think we should bring them joy. Also some kind of moral lesson and sense.

But I sound like 'Little House on the Prairie' , or 'The Waltons' which I always loved and Mark Twain.

Lived all my life in southern california. Today, in the middle of summer, a lightning storm came and zapped people in the ocean. It has never happened before. The clouds came out of nowhere. Strange, strange, strange...

Apparently the power went off in the United Nations last night as they were debating events in Gaza. They were all left sitting in the dark.

    A sign?

That book was fantastic. I can't stand Stephen King, and I don't normally read his stuff at all but my sister handed it to me years ago and said I HAD to read it. It was spot on! The movie was good, but weird. I thought they did a pretty darn good job in picking people for roles!
