SAINT (Pope) John Paul II - on Garabandal There is a book on Garabandal, written by Albrecht Weber in 1993, entitled Garabandal Der Zeigefmger Gottes (Garabandal: The Finger of God), of which a first edition copy was presented to Pope John Paul II. He later asked his secretary, Fr. (now Archbishop) Stanislaus Dziwisz, to write to the author after which the Holy Father adds in his own handwriting at the end a personal greeting and his signature.. In the subsequent printing (2000 ,2nd Edition) of the book, on page 19, a portion of the Pope's message is reprinted, as follows:"May God reward you for everything. Especially for the deep love with which you are making the events connected with Garabandal more widely known. May the Message of the Mother of God find an entrance into hearts before it is too late. As an expression of joy and gratitude, the Holy Father gives you his apostolic blessing."Weber writes, "From the attached greeting in the Pope's own handwriting, with his signature, it is clear how deep an interest he has in the events of Garabandal, and how anxious he is that they should be made known in a credible way." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During a special general audience with the Pope at the Vatican ... "special" because it was held on Saturday, rather than the usual Wednesday... Father Robert introduced Garabandal Visionary Mari-Loli and family to him. Father Robert who was holding 7 year old Maria Dolores, one of the three Lafleur children, said to the Pope: "Your Holiness, a special blessing for your littlest children who come on behalf of The Blessed Virgin from Garabandal." I am not totally sold on Garabandal, esp. considering no bishop having endorsed it though has interesting points.
Personally, a little research on the priest and group concerned has led me to think this was sensationalist postings by social media hungry and possibly naive Colombian group. I don't think the statue was actually of Our Lady of Garabandal anyhow: but a general statue of Our Lady in the Church ( allegedly ).

Would you repeat for us what you know about the Warning? Conchita: What I remember now is that the Virgin told me that before the Miracle God will be sending us a Warning, so as to purify us or prpare us to see the Miracle, and in this way we may draw enough Grace to change our lives towards God. She told me what the Warning consists of but not its date. I am not able to say what it consists of but I am able to say what it will be like, more or less. It is a phenomenon which will be seen and felt in all the world and everywhere I have always put as an example that of two stars that collide. This phenomenon will not cause physical damage, but will horrify us because at the very moment we will see our souls and the harm we have done, it is as though we were in agony but we will not die by its effects or perhaps we will die of fright or shock to see ourselves. May the virgin forgive me if I do not explain it the way it is but I am trying to tell you, after knowing, what the Warning will be like that day.

Conchita: “ I have never said that the Warning will be a short moment. What I have said is that even if it were a moment, it will be very impressive and terrible. No one will have doubts of it being from God and its not being human. I, who know what it is, am very afraid of that day”

The distance from the Warning to the Miracle will be less than one year. Question: Do you know the exact date of the Warning? Loli: “ No. The only thing I know is the year.” Question: What about the airplane stopping in mid-air? Did you see or were you told about this? Loli: “ the most holy virgin told me that all engines and Motors will come to a stop. “ Question have you any words of advice for the people in order that they may prepare for this event? Loli: “ To do much penance , make sacrifices, and visit the Blessed Sacrament everyday that we are able to and to pray the Holy Rosary daily.
THE MORNING OFFERING PRAYER Our Blessed Mother said in Garabandal on October 18th, 1961, "We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives. " In 1945 Jesus told Lucia, the seer of Fatima, "The sacrifice and penance I now seek and require is the fulfillment of your state in life and the observance of my laws." Whatever your state in life may be you can sanctify all your daily actions if upon arising you recite sincerely the morning offering prayer. Through the "Morning Offering of Reparation" every act you do becomes a sacrifice. The word "sacrifice" means to make "holy." Once you have made your morning offering you make "holy" every act you do throughout the day. Whatever trial God permits to pass your way during the day becomes a penance — whether it be work, bad weather, rebellious children, sickness in the family, tight economic conditions or misunderstandings by relatives or friends. All these sacrifices and penances obtain graces the Blessed Virgin needs for the conversion of sinners. Padre Pio said it best, "If you knew the value of suffering, you wouldn't give it up." Conchita suggests we all should start our day with this prayer. “ O Jesus, through the Immaculate heart of Mary, and in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass being offered throughout the world, I offer you all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate heart of Mary, for my sins, and the sins of the whole world. “
IMPORTANT DATES IN GARABANDAL HISTORY June 18,1961 -1st appearance of St. Michael July 2, 1961 - St. Michael appears with the Blessed Mother (her 1st ) July 31,1961 - the girls in ecstasy , move on the rocks on their knees, and also recite the rosary, without having learned it, without rosary beads, and without making mistakes regarding the “Mysteries”. August 8, 1961 - Fr. Luis Andreau has a vision of Mary, and is shown the “great Miracle”. He yells “ Miracle” 4 times. Later that night he dies on the way home. August 19 ,1961 The girls are 1st kissed by Mary. Oct. 18, 1961 - 1st Message given by St. Michael (from Mary ) June 19 & 20 1962 - the “2 nights of screams”, where the girls are shown the future possible “Chastisement”. June 22, 1962 - St. Michael tells Conchita that there will be a miracle of a “ Visible Host”, and she will announce it 15 days in advance. July 3, 1962 - Conchita announces the Visible host will appear in 15 days. July 18, 1962 - at about 1 am, the host appears on Conchita’s tongue out of thin air, and is caught on film. Called “The Little Miracle”. February, 1963 - Joey Lomangino goes to confession to Padre Pio, and asks if the apparitions are true in Garabandal, and Padre Pio says “ Yes”, and Joey goes to Garabandal and becomes friends with Conchita. July 18,1964 - Conchita is told that the body of the Fr. Luis Andreau (who died on August 8,1961) will be found incorrupt, the day after the “ Miracle”. January 1, 1965 - Mary tells Conchita at the Pines, about the “Warning”. June 18 1965 - St. Michael appears at the same spot he did 4 years ago and delivers Mary’s 2nd message. Nov. 13,1965 - Mary appears for the last time, holding the child Jesus (to Conchita alone). She kisses religious objects, tells Conchita “to visit her Son in the tabernacle, where he waits for us”, tells Conchita she can not be brought to Heaven right now because “her hands must be filled with deeds, and now her hands are empty”.
HAPPY FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD! It reminded me of a miraculous Baptism at Garabandal The "Symbolic" Baptism of Muriel Catherine Muriel Catherine, a nineteen-year-old woman from Paris, of a Jewish father and a Protestant mother, was practising no religion when she met Ascension de Luis from Burgos. the latter taught her a few rudimentary notions of the Catholic faith. The two friends went up to Garabandal on Monday, August 28, Feast of St. Augustine, the most famous convert in the Church history, except St. Paul. At about 0:30 a.m., on August 29, they attended an ecstasy of Mari-Loli and Jacinta, who spoke about Muriel to their Vision. The visionaries then exclaimed: "She is not baptized! She is not baptized! . . . Come, let's help her . . . Ah, because of her parents! . . . " Loli suddenly stretched out her arm, and grasped a bottle of holy water that a priest had given her to throw towards the apparition as a "test". The girl opened the bottle and threw the contents upwards, in front of her. But instead of following its normal course, the water mysteriously bent its path, and in its inexplicable trajectory, fell as a little shower on Muriel! Muriel already had faith. But to be baptized, she had to wait until she came of age, the parents being opposed to her initiative. She was baptized in the cathedral of Burgos, at twenty-one years of age, on October 20, 1963, under the name of Maria del Carmen Catherine. Muriel represents the first of three cases of a typical "conversion" linked directly to Garabandal. The two other cases are those of Maximo Foerschler, an Evangelist and of Barbara Painter, an Anglican Protestant. SAINT JOSE MARIA ESCRIVA AND GARABANDAL The link between St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer with the Garabandal apparitions is not well known. In the summer of 1962 he spent a few days on holiday in Suances, Cantabria, during which he visited Garabandal, accompanied by several young men , probably members of Opus Dei. He spoke cheerfully and profoundly to the girls, an experience they still recall fondly after all these years. As it happens, news of this visit came out by chance years later when somebody showed the girls a prayer picture for God’s favour through Escriva’s intercession, printed during his canonization. It was then that the girls joyfully recounted the meeting. He would not have risked his reputation if he did not believe in the apparitions, and tell others about his trips to talk to the girls. This was also confirmed by Mother Nieves. Mother Maria de las Nieves García affirms that one of the seers (Mari Cruz) confirms the presence of the founder of Opus Dei in the town during the apparitions. Mari Cruz personally told Pueblo de María that the saint remembers him perfectly with his cassock, that he was very smiling, that he would go up with young students and that he would take out candies from the pocket of his cassock to distribute to the children present. IN TIME, MARY REVEALS ALL. I have a rarely heard story of Our Lady kissing a woman's cosmetic powder case. We know most of the stories are about kissed religious objects. The reason I post this ( besides being a rarely heard story ) is that it reminds me of we don't always understand everything that happened at Garabandal , until later on. I think this story proves my point. Never question our Blessed Mother's intentions, even if we don’t understand it right away. One day Conchita was in the kitchen of her house surrounded by persons who were waiting for the moment of the apparition. On the simple table that served for the family meals, the objects that she was going to give to be kissed were being gathered. Together with these, someone had put there a stylish woman's powder case. The child and those present wanted this removed. How could the Virgin come to kiss an object so profane and used only for the service of vanity? Nevertheless, the powder case remained there. The ecstasy began and those present saw with astonishment that the visionary's hand, without her looking at it, before going to any other object, went first of all toward the previously discussed powder case. The child raised it toward the invisible Virgin and then set it down with great respect on the table. Among those present, surprise must have been mingled with doubt. Was it really the Virgin who was appearing? It didn't seem that she would kiss such an object . . . As soon as the ecstasy was finished, Conchita was asked for an explanation. And she declared that the Virgin had asked immediately for the powder case in order to kiss it, saying that it was “something «belonging to her Son”.The girl did not know anything more. But the person who had put the powder case there did know more and revealed the secret. During the terrible Spanish civil war (1936-1939) in the Red Zone when priests were being executed and had to be hidden, the powder case had been used to bring Communion Hosts to various locations and especially to prisoners whom the Reds held captive in order to execute. Thus it had served as a Pyx .
