Conchita receives the Veil of Padre Pio / Confirms him seeing Miracle.

“ Conchita speaks of Padre Pio”
    " Needles " magazine. Spring 1975, page 13

Needles : It is reported that one of the Veils which covered Padre Pio’s face while he was laid out in his casket was given to you. Will you tell us the circumstances of this incident?

Conchita: “ Yes. It was in October of 1968. One night I received a telegram asking me to come to Lourdes to pick up a letter from Padre Pio. The telegram was signed by Father Pelligrino. Father Combe from France, was in the village at this time, and I asked him if he would take me and my mother to Lourdes. We left the same night that the telegram arrived, and I even forgot my passport. When we came to the customs, it was about 3 o’clock in the morning, and they let me pass even though I had no passport or any sort of documentation. I told them I would be in Lourdes only for a few hours, and they let me go through.

While I was there, Father Pelligrino gave me a letter from Padre Pio and a piece of the veil which covered Father Pio’s face in his casket. With these, Father Pelligrino told me “Before Father Pio died, he gave me a message for you and he told me “ When I die, the veil which will cover my face is to be given to Conchita”. Then Father Pelligrino told me that he did not believe in the apparitions until Father Pio said this.

I said to Father Pelligrino “ How is it that the Virgin told me that Father Pio is supposed to seethe Miracle, and he has died ? Father Pelligrino said to me “He saw the Miracle before he died” He said that Father Pio had told him that.

I stayed in Lourdes only two hours. When I returned home I started to write the whole story to Elisa Bayor. I had the veil in front of me as I was writing, when suddenly the whole room became filled with a fragrance. I had heard of the fragrances of Father Pio but never paid much attention. The room smelled of perfume so strong that I started to cry. It was the first time I had experienced this. All this happened after he was dead.”

Many have heard about the “ Pre- Warning” Garabandal prophecy about the Pope going to Moscow, but can’t find the source of the quote. I will provide 2 sources.

“THE POPE WILL GO TO RUSSIA, TO MOSCOW” (Origin of quote)

Albrecht Weber's book ( The Finger of God ) contains this statement attributed to Conchita: "The pope will go to Russia, to Moscow. As soon as he returns to the Vatican, hostilities will break out in different parts of Europe." [The source for this information was also requested. Mr. Weber responded: "Conchita said this in a long conversation at her house on November 14,1965."]
Garabandal: Der Zeigefinger Gottes by Albrecht Weber, 2000, p. 130-131

MAY 4, 1962, The book by Jacques Serre "GARABANDAL: Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary”", contains the passage on page 132 .

Some new explanations were given Conchita about new circumstances of the future Miracle: "It will occur at 8:30 p.m." (Spanish time), "on a Thursday," truly a Eucharistic and priestly day, also a day, par excellence, of the Unity of Christians. Indeed, it was on the evening of the Last supper in the Upper Room, that Christ addressed His sublime prayer to God; "Father, that they may all be One, as You are in Me and I am in You" (John 17: 21). There are so many corresponding details - but there are others! - that lead us to think that the "D" day might "fall" on a Holy Thursday. This intuition seemed all the more valid since we know that the "D" day will fall in the month of . . . April and, to repeat it, on a very special "Thursday," although we now know that it will not be a Holy Thursday! Conchita also said that: "the Miracle will last about a quarter of an hour; it will be seen in heaven, so clearly or in such an obvious way that there will no longer exist any doubts about the existence of God and His love for mankind." "The sick present at Garabandal, the place of the Miracle, will be healed."

Finally, Conchita "will announce the date eight days prior to the Miracle." Again, according to the visionary, "it will be the greatest Miracle that Jesus will ever have performed for the world."

Did Conchita give any indication of how long the tribulation period will be? will it be short like only a few weeks long?

The life of a Visionary is not easy.

In addition to personal and spiritual needs, the girls still had their daily chores. The life of a visionary is not as easy as one might think. It was bad enough that people questioned her visions, but others also made demands on Conchita. There was no possibility of having a realistic life in the village. Every day there were people telling Conchita what to do, and it would have been impossible for her to go out or even finish her chores because of the countless visitors who wanted to see her, talk to her, question her, touch her (as if she had healing powers), which is why her mother sent her away at age 17 to another town for her education.

Here is Conchita in her own words:
" I remember that my village made me suffer. I felt like I was imprisoned. I was acting on the commands of others who were constantly advising me, 'Go to Mass, pray the rosary, do this, give that up.' Sometimes I thought I would be happy in a hermitage away from everyone, to work alone for God and see what I was capable of doing without being told forever." 11-25-66

    WHOLE VILLAGE GOES TO CONFESSION

(June 19,1962, “The Night of Screams” Girls see the future Tribulations)

Fr. Valentin’s notes say that the dramatic apparition ended at around 2:00 in the morning. The girls then said that they would stay there the whole night in prayer. And many decided to stay there with them. Among them was Eloisa de la Roza Verlarde:
“ I don’t think anyone left, we were praying with them until six in the morning. At that hour ( with the first light of day), Fr. Larrazabal, a Franciscan Friar, left for the church, with all the people following him. And the confession line began. The whole village went to confession, and seemingly the confessions were of a truly extraordinary sincerity and repentance.”

From “ Garabandal: Message of Hope” pgs. 190-191

** For those who have never heard of the “2 Nights of Screams” it was back to back nights June 19 & 20 1962, when Mary showed the girls the times of Tribulation before the Warning, and the time of the Chastisement, if it happens.

Today in Garabandal History NOVEMBER 28, 1963:

For the second time this month, when the locutions began, each of the two visionaries was unaware that her companion was going through the same spiritual experience.

    CONCHITA'S AND MARI-LOLI'S LOCUTIONS
The Blessed Virgin spoke to the two visionaries about Felipe Sobrado, a priest martyr of the Spanish Civil War, and whose remains were transferred to the church of Pontejoz, on November 18, 1963 precisely. "He will not be canonized, but through his intercession God will perform miracles" said the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel to Conchita.

The locutions always came when Conchita and Loli were praying. The most important ones were given them at the church after they had received Holy Communion.

Based on what other seers have stated throughout the ages it appears that it will be a very short duration and I think that may be why the Blessed Mother said that there will be no WWIII. It may appear to look like WWIII but it won’t be truly comparable to the other 2 WWs. These are just my thoughts.

(A foreshadowing of Mary's future prediction of "many priests are on the road to perdition " )
Notes recorded by Mother Nieves ( the directress of Conchita's college )
    "Conchita's Recollections"

Conchita: " I remember a young priest of the Heart of Mary, to whom I wanted to give the crucifix to kiss, drew back, and weeping said, I am not worthy, I am not worthy . . . When I had finished seeing the Virgin, I went up to him and, apart from everyone, communicated to him what she had told me. He wants to take off the habit and leave the congregation. On hearing this, he began to cry again. I've never seen him since."

Glenn, I've not ever come across any descriptions of the visions that the Blessed Mother shown them... Did she ask the girls to not share the visions of either the Tribulation before the Warning or Chastisement...?

Here are two quotes from Conchita and Mari Loli.

In his book THE APPARITIONS OF GARABANDAL, Francisco Sanchez-Venture y Pascual includes the following note written by Conchita about the Chastisement :

“The Chastisement is conditional and depends on whether or not mankind heeds the messages of the Blessed Virgin and the Miracle. If it should take place, I know what it will consist of because the Blessed Virgin told me about it, but I am not permitted to say what it is. Moreover, I have seen the Chastisement. I can assure you that if it comes, it will be worse than being enveloped in fire, worse than having fire above and beneath you. I do not know how much time will elapse between the Miracle and the Chastisement.“

On the feast of the Holy Rosary, October 7, 1962, Maria Herrero de Gallardo was in Garabandal and took the occasion to question Mari Loli about the visions of June 19-20, 1962 (the Nights of the Screams), and what she and the other visionaries could possibly have seen to cause them to cry out in such a terrifying manner. Sefiora Herrero reported: "Oh!" exclaimed the girl. "That was horrible to see. We were really frightened, and I know no words that could explain it. We saw rivers change into blood.... Fire fell from the sky.... And something much worse still, which I'm not able to reveal now."

("SHE WENT IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN")

Further information from Loli was contained in messages bearing her signature that were presented to Maria Saraco and published in 1970 by Fernand Corteville in his newsletter L'Impartial (No.31): In spite of continuing to see the Virgin, (during the Nights of the Screams) we saw a great multitude of people who were suffering intensely and screaming in terror. The Blessed Virgin explained to us that this great tribulation, which was not even the Chastisement, would come because a time would arrive when the Church would appear to be on the point of perishing. It would pass through a terrible trial. We asked the Virgin what this great trial was called and she told us it was "Communism." Then she showed us how the great Chastisement for all mankind would come, and that it would come directly from God. At a certain moment, not a single motor or machine would function; a terrible heat wave will strike the earth and men will begin to feel a great thirst. In desperation they will seek water, but this will evaporate from the heat. Then almost everyone will despair and they will seek to kill one another. But they will lose their strength and fall to the ground. Then it will be understood that it is God alone Who has permitted this. Then we saw a crowd in the midst of flames. The people ran to hurl themselves into the lakes and seas. But the water seemed to boil, and instead of putting out the flames, it seemed to enkindle them even more. It was so horrible that I asked the Blessed Virgin to take all the young children with her before all this happened. But the Virgin told us that by the time it came, they would all be adults.

I recently came to realize that the last line of your post appears to suggest that the chastisement is definitely coming and at most it would probably be 30-40 years away.(making the youngest children in Garabandal in 1962 at around 100 years old).

IMHO, I think in order to truly appreciate and understand Garabandal, it is necessary to understand the Old Testament. It's like a Wedding Feast in which the bride is adorned properly. "Something Old, Something New, something borrowed, something used (blue)." If you want to experience it personally, then I suggest you climb to the pines at night without a lantern. It feels much different than during the day for some reason.

While I understand your reasoning, its still MOST important to remember what Mary called it " The Conditional Chastisement". ONLY WE make it unconditional, not God.
