Changing over from summer to Autumn and it seemed to me that the nights are drawing in very quickly, far too quickly for the time of year. I thought it might be my imagination...for how can you be sure, but apparently others are talking about this. I got this in an email: 'Padraig, I recently met my friend from Waterford in wexford where I holidayed for a few days. He said , “ it is too early to have dark evenings last August. It should be in the third week of September.” My other friend already commented as well. I did notice a few weeks ago and As you mentioned about imagining. I did think I was imaging it. but some of my friends mentioned it…we are definitely not imagining! '
No you are not!! Last night I was on the phone to my brother in law (part time farmer) and he mentioned how the evenings had drawn in too quickly and had to put the lights on earlier than normal. It seems to me the sun is not giving off the usual light. I did some painting over the summer (July) and the light was very poor. Or is it more cloudy so the sunlight does not get through the same way? But something is definitely not right.
Yes I thought so. It is hard to tell if it is my imagination. It also as you say seems darker during the day.
I noticed this too one day last week. I thought to myself that it seemed darker earlier.....but I just brushed it off and didn't think much of it. Maybe it has something to do with the times and that bible verse.... The sun shall be darkened........ That's not to say completely dark.....but darkened.....as if not as bright.
yes I have noted this since July. Darkness is falling much earlier than normal for the time of year. I was wondering if it was anything to do with the shift in the axis. Definitely something different happening.
yes, I am in the south of England and the evenings have been in seasonally dark for the last couple of week's. We also wondered if we were just imaging this Mary
I suppose it might be a diffulty thing to prove. I have checked the news media and there are no reports. Still again if it were true maybe they would censor it and not tell us. Who knows?
could well be cloud cover on checking the site below there is no significant change in sunset times over the past 5 years..the easiest way to check is to see what time sunset actually falls tonight ? http://www.sunrise-and-sunset.com/en/sun/united-kingdom/london/2010
I have not noticed the earlier darkness, but I've not been too attentive to it. I have noticed and commented to my wife that I thought it was very unusual to see the leaves falling from the trees so early in September. The thing I've noticed most however this past summer and even before that was the unusual cloud cover. I noticed dark clouds some in odd shapes, but even with the dark clouds, we rarely had rain? And within the dark clouds that would fill the entire sky as far as I could see, there would be these breaks - sometimes pin holes where bright, bright rays of light would stream through. And last but not least, I saw more rainbows - sometimes double and even a triple one this summer, but again they were not preceded by any rain storms.
Our leaves started falling last month but I think it is because of lack of water. We have hardly had rain. I have not noticed much else.
It is hard to tell, it reminds me of when people say time is speeding up..well how do you measure this. I mean objectively? I guess some things will have to wait til lheaven till we find out. I asked myself if in Scripture there were times when the sun darkened? Well yes there were! For isntance after the death of Jesus on the Cross.
The difficulty with science, I think John is that it is limited. When tehy give sunset times ,are they saying the time it goes dark, or the time that theyscientifically goes dark. If I were to ask a hundred people what time it goes daark tonight I would probably get a hundred differing times
Wow Beth I am jealous, how beautiful!! How easy looking out on that it must be for you to pray! Do you ever see any animals back there? Gorgeous.
I have a theory, Mike that the angels like to paint the sky with the clouds so I always pay attention. For the demons I think it is as though they are prisioners locked in a cell , having nothing else to do they make graffitti. Only theres is grafitti of the skies.
I think the signs are all around us Cathy, I think the best example this year is the powerful El Nino building http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/593648/Weather-Warning-El-Nino-storms-autumn-winter-Britain
The weather in Ireland has been mostly poor since 22nd May 2015. The darkness of the skies represents the darkness that we let into our country. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/marriage-referendum
That would be correct as the time the sunsets (disappears from the horizon) is different to the location you are in.. My own observations this year whilst out sea fishing is it is most certainly colder which has something to do with the el nino ..The biggest shock I got this year was a conker tree ready for picking..That was on the 31st july..so without a doubt Autumn is early. Not that I mind, for me Autumn is the most beautiful season of all View attachment 3406
That picture is a fake. Anyway, this thread is curious because few days ago I was thinking about some things: - Time is passing really fast. - I didn't remember it was so dark at 8:30 p.m. during this time of the year. - Some leaves are falling, even if we are in early September. So, interesting. P.S.: I live in Italy.
