Sigh. It used to be I read what a Pope said and understood it.

Now it seems I hear a Pope speak , misunderstand it and have to have it explained to me very carefully and in detail. ..all the time.

It is also explained to me over and over agan that this is the media's fault.

It is possible I suppose to render the Holy Fathers words in an another way. I would love to go out for a drink with him to ask him myself. :)

This is not good for my blood pressure

What does he mean by "seem to us impure, scandalous or threatening and turn it into a miracle". This concerns me.

Padraig, no disrespect to you.But if you go to anti god media source to get truth of what someone in the Church says you open yourself up for heart ache and confusion.
CNN NY recently Chris Cuomo brother of NY gov stated in a debate God doesn't make our laws man does.
    Be at peace sir:)

I read this quote earlier today and was perplexed by it too.

Yes. I always blame the media (many times they have twisted his words). I always go and read the actual text, but even in that, this comment is confusing.

Indeed, as it should. The media did not spin this. It is the Pope's words.

At some point we as Catholics lose credibility when we try to blame all the problems with the strange things this Pope says on the media.

At some point we have to admit that it's not all media manipulation.

maybe if you read it this way...from CNA not CNN
seem to us impure, scandalous or threatening, and turn it – by making it part of his 'hour' – into a miracle.”

Pope Francis centered his remarks on St. John's Gospel account of the wedding at Cana, which was read during the Mass. The scene recounts Mary telling Christ that their hosts have run out of wine, to which he responds that it is not yet “his hour” – a reference to his forthcoming Passion.

He asked us all to pray fervently for the synod coming up. papa Francis is hopeing for miracles in Families. read the homily, I posted it on the last page. Its really good

so leaving out part of his hour in context of the Gospel reading for the homily is the popes fault and not CNNs' misquote.
Brian its obvious you accept any news source that agrees with your opinion.
Im convinced you believe papa Francis is an Anti pope, Its the only conclusion I can draw from your many posts/threads

    1) Did or did not the Pope say, "seem to us impure, scandalous or threatening and turn it"?

That is what people are concerned about, not what he said after it.

Catholics know that good fruit does not come from a bad tree and that one may never do evil even that good may come from it.

The progressive agenda going into the Synod is an attempt to take that which is impure, scandalous or threatening ( sacraments for those living in grave sin and recognition of gay unions) and turn it into something acceptable or even commendable.

    2) Don't put words in my mouth. This pope is a concern to every faithful orthodox Catholic I know and respect. That does not make them or me any less of a faithful orthodox Catholic.

I will checknout CNA but I was reading it on Vatican Radio. Which is what concerned me. But someone had to type the article. Leaving out words gives things a different meaning. I don't trust the medias reporting regular news let's alone church matters. As for Pope Francis, he is a valid pope elected by a valid conclave. I leave this in God's hands.

    2) Don't change the popes words Brian.

I read the homily you posted and thank you for explaining it, but I just didn't get why he had to have the "impure, scandalous, or threatening" part. None of what he spoke about in that homily seemed to"impure, scandalous, or threatening". I guess I just don't understand Pope Francis as much as I would like. I don't think I am alone in that.

Do not misrepresent what others are stating here.

I did not change his words.

I simply pointed out to you the part of what he did say that people are concerned about, rightly so, regardless of what he said after that part.

    an·ti·pope \ˈan-ti-ˌpōp\

    noun

: one elected or claiming to be pope in opposition to the pope canonically chosen

Pope Francis was canonically chosen. Now if a schism occurs after the upcoming Synod. Which is very possible due to so much dissention among the Cardinals, and another claims to be Pope. Then I would be seriously concerned about an antipope.

The problem is not that we do not understand Pope Francis here. The problem is that we do, and as a consequence it gets harder and harder to pretend that Kasper's proposal is not the Pope's proposal.

If he says something I quite don't understand I ask our Lord to what the pope is saying. Its taken 3 days sometimes but I just ask for my mind to be enlightened to understand Lord .

This is a good example of the kind of attack the Holy Father suffers. Neither he nor the Church condones or promotes lesbian relationships. What a shame that this forum allows that impression and others of its kind to persist. Recently Aviso posted his congratulations to those who he considered champions of the church and expressed his wish that their names be remembered in heaven. I am sure that false witness against the Vicar of Christ will be remembered in heaven. It has also been suggested that Catholic debate on this forum is stifled by accusations of schism and ulterior motivation. I have been one of those accusers and in the interests of unity and truth say those accusations are justified. When Aviso's blog was online my initial interest was Garabandal but it became obvious that the site was a vehicle for attacks on the Pope. Aviso has published his abhorence of Pope Francis and said he thinks he is a bad pope so this is not gossip. Certain elements on this site conduct similar attacks. So now rather than just the peace and hope of information about Garabandal that I enjoy and trust from on one thread I feel obliged to be on the alert for such attacks on other threads and to defend the Pope as best I can. I would encourage other Catholics here to do the same. Remember to play the ball and and not the man or like me you may be booted off. I will finish as I began, neither the Church nor Pope Francis supports or condones homosexuality. To say otherwise suggests subversive and schismatic motivation.

This is not an attack on the Holy Father. This was on the Vatican Radio website!

I guess the Pope isn't the captain of the Barque. Wonder who is...

Nice try, but even Padraig expressed the same doubts I did about the excerpt posted. If you attack my position on this you attack his.

I was told on Aviso's site that no comments that supported this pontificate would be allowed. Thank God others can see through veiled attacks on the pope even when they use the Vatican.
