Many Christians in the USA get news from newsmax .... scarery , I will take future commentaries with a grain of salt....by the way Americanism is a Heresy

C'mon gang. Let's not forget that we're all on the same team. We're arguing over whether the best way to get it into the end zone is to pass or run the ball. We all still want to get it into the end zone. Let's not forget that. As a former military (US Navy) guy, I look at Pope Francis as our "CO," or Commanding Officer. Sometimes the CO did things that made no sense to me - but I trusted that he knew what he was doing and that he had the good of the ship in mind. There were many more vocal than me their criticism of the CO, but they were still good shipmates. Anyway, happy to serve with all here, even if we take different approaches on these issues. For me, it's a simple question of trusting the CO to keep the ship out of harm's way.

While watching and listening to Michael Voris in this video, I just thought to myself, why on earth would anyone prefer to listen to this guy rather than Pope Francis himself?
Fair point David. Voris is just an imperfect man in an imperfect world. And I would rather listen to Pope Francis speak up about real moral issues facing the catholic in the world today. Let me know when he does.
No knickers are twisted (that sounds uncomfortable ) and I don't aspire to any lovey-dovey "BS" - I just think that the vehement disagreement with the Pope that we are seeing here indicates a lack of trust. When I say we're on the "same team" I'm referring to those of us here debating these points, not the world in general. We ARE on the same team - that is, the team of faithful Catholics. Maybe I'm too simple in my approach, but I believe we should take our cue from the Pope and let the chips fall wherever. I hope those whose peace is disturbed by this encyclical or other of Pope Francis' word or actions can get past that.
Take a gander at the "Pope Francis News" thread and look at what he is saying on a daily basis. I think Pope Francis addresses all the "real" moral issues with clarity and charity.

Fair enough- but that doesn't change the substance of it. I'd like to think that those of us here are not like those others who will react without reading or without real understanding. We cannot let ourselves be swayed by mere headlines or spinmeisters. Let our measured response be an example and, once we have read and understand, let our joyful response be a beacon to those that lack such understanding. That has been the call of Christians from the beginning.
The Pope has stated that the current problems with the environment are presenting a major crisis for the world. Is it possible that he has access to prophetic information/dates the general population of Catholics don't? The Holy See has over 2,000 years of saints and seers private information to sift through. Possibly even dates events will occur that the rest of us may not be privy to. He did after all proclaim the year of mercy coming up and I believe that is a precursor to St. Faustina's visions coming to fruition. Just a thought.
Actually, I think Little me is right on this one. Name calling of those who are trying to have an open debate is not charitable, regardless of how you justify it. You then define yourself as a hater of those you defined as "haters" by your own actions. Words and thoughts are as powerful as any actions, and when you scream labels at people with exclamation points, and then try to cover it with screaming "Peace be to you!" at the end, you just end up screaming your own pride and lack of charity to the world.
Unfortunately this Pope, no matter who they were, had quite an unfair bias against them already before the Holy Spirit elected him even among Catholics. Anyone who has spent their time reading on the internet the past 10 years would have read so much that this pope to come was to be the anti-pope or the beast from revelation. Most Protestants strongly felt that and I always found it quite hypocritical from Protestants because they used Catholic prophecy to try to prove their theory. Talk about a house built on sand!! This is Peter the Roman according to most in the world as it pertains to St. Malachi's prophecy so many felt that Peter the Roman was/is the antichrist. It didnt' help the devout much either when false prophets like MDM invaded the Catholic Church and began to spit hatred toward the Pope that was to come and then further rip apart and dissect everything he said to try to prove this theory. I understand people's frustration about not being firmer but the tone of many of what I read on here seems to point to this belief as well. Maybe that is right or maybe that is wrong, because only individuals know what they really feel inside and it is not clear in their written or spoken words. I feel personally this is very dangerous ground and I for one would pray about it and not enter into such thoughts, accusations or debates for it creates an appearance of passing judgement. Sure one can say that it is just discussion but what one says vs what is truly in one's heart is two different things and only God knows our hearts. I am in no way saying that a Pope could not be an anti-Pope but until I see change in dogma vs assumptions and speculation based upon what he said or did not say and further try to discern what he said or did not say, I would never want to entertain those thoughts. To me that is the devil getting into our heads and creating division even among devout brothers and sisters. I don't see much love in these debates and I see much more angst, strife, and anger, and we all know who the father of those feelings are. Just my 2 cents. Carry on with your analysis and debate but I caution all in doing so for we all know that we are judged by every word and action. Personally I am more concerned about my own salvation and my own shortcomings and have more than enough to concern me there than to constantly search for clues to help me justify what many may internally feel but not admit about who or what this Pope is in history.
I think the root of concern that people are trying to express here is the following logic: We are faithful Christians. We are not, then, filled with anxiety, because we heed the command of Christ. Therefore we are not fretting over reports of climate change in the news for the past decades, because we are in the earth, but not of the earth. In addition, we who have been given gifts of discernment, wisdom and intellect by the Holy Spirit can clearly recognize when evil has co-opted something for control and greed, and has propagated a lie to achieve its end. This is the force that now tries to empower the UN with a tyrannical carbon taxation that could further concentrate wealth and impoverish the poor and middle classes. Regardless of the large part of the encyclical that has nothing to do with the above topic #4, the fact is that the media will trumpet these sound bites from the encyclical that support the supposed "scientific consensus" that a "disturbing warming" is due to human activity, to the general public to add weight to the lie. So a previous commenter was right in saying most people in the world will not read the encyclical (in total), but on the other hand most people in the world will for sure be subjected to the trumpeting of the cherry-picked sound bites that support the UN agenda. Thus more confusion and division will reign among Catholics and Christians, much like the confusion that keeps occurring when the Pope's "who am I to judge" comments are taken out of their true context and trumpeted incorrectly as support for homosexual acts among those you identify with same sex attraction. However, this time the quotes are not coming from a casual conversation on an airplane, but from a formal teaching encyclical. So the Pope's motivations here are clear: He wants to directly influence an upcoming UN conference on climate change And he wants us citizens to exert public pressure on our respective governments to enforce a solution for climate change and greenhouse gases (because apparently our governments are too corrupt in his opinion to address this issue properly). I think where most discerning Catholics and Christians differ is that: We agree that corruption of governments is a reality in this situation. However, we have discerned that the greater danger, and most likely form of corruption based on the evidence is the following: That those who are in the business of lobbying governments, influencing parliaments and congresses, controlling puppets, and concentrating wealth and power ARE NOT RESISTING CLIMATE CHANGE LEGISLATION, BUT ARE PUSHING FOR IT. Because it is their vehicle to achieve their evil end.
