I felt this a few months ago and started wearing my scapular to bed and that chased it away. Please try that if you have a blessed brown scapular.

Strangest thing happened 2 weeks ago. I awoke at 4am or so to what I thought was my hearing my son downstairs with the TV on. But it wasn't the TV and no one was up in the house and the TVs were all off. I could hear 3 voices. Two were asking questions in a high pitched voice, and the one answering had a deep James Earl Jones type voice. I could not hear what they were saying but it felt like they were in the corner of our bedroom and were talking about my wife and I. I did not feel fear but almost like I was hearing from the other side of the veil. Very strange.

Tom, it is not that strange. The closer you get the God, the closer evil gets to you because they don't have to hide anymore because they know you know they exist and they still want to get at you and get you away from God even more so than ever.

I have had a few alarming encounters myself but each time I prayed the Hail Mary and they were gone. I have talked about my encounters on here before so won't rehash them but will give the cliff note version. 1st, 2 days after I made my Consecration to Jesus through Mary, I was attacked at first in a dream by an evil entity that was in the form of a mist and a voice that claimed to be "the spirit of the arts?" but this dream quickly came to be reality as it was in my bedroom hovering above my bed. It went to move towards my wife and instinctively I tried to grab it and it held me down at my chest and it felt like 1,000lbs of pressure on me. I was calm and began to say the "Hail Mary" and as soon as said Mary it was gone and out of my room in an instant.

Another time I was awake in bed reading the bible and was actually reading Luke 2 and remembered I had not finished my rosary of the day so closed my bible and was about to finish it. I closed my eyes and as soon as I did this, something grabbed and pulled my leg. I thought it was my wife or dog that came into the room but it was not. I calmly began to say a Hail Mary and then proceeded to finish my rosary.

The "created one" works in many different ways. Its kinda funny... he will try all sorts of things. But if he manifests... all he can try to do is scare you. Its kind of dumb because that usually leads you in getting closer to God. I think he manifest himself to Ordinary Saints (like you and me) because his other tricks aren't working.

    1. Pretending he doesn't exist
    2. Keeping you occupied in wordly duties
    3. Holding you captive to certain habits
    4. Keeping you attached to earthly pleasures

So, lets not fear these little encounters. God will not allow him to do things one can't handle. I sometimes think he must ask God to manifest himself to us. And God knows... if you can handle it or not. God is in control of everything even death. So, what can the "created one" really do.

May God protect you and your family

    May Gods Will be Done

    Hi Fallen Saint,
can you tell me what is the reason that you refer to satan as the "created one"???????

    No one has ever asked...

I do it because it makes him angry. By being created it lowers him to almost a human. He considers himself Godlike. But as long as he was created...it will never make him like God. He is really no greater then a blade of grass. How pridefull can you be when you were created by God.

I try to avoid his name because that gives him importance.

Lots more to write and discuss but that is the main reason for me always calling him the "created one". Its a little way for me to poke him. It might get me in trouble one day. But at least i get my jabs in.

Very good. I do like a wind up merchant. Who indeed is like unto God. The St michael prayer is perhaps my favourite after the Hail Mary, ya just gotta love his rebuke

    John,

The presence has shown it's true colors! :eek:It sounds similar to an experience I had not too many months after my conversion experience back in the summer of 1977. I believe that JoeJerk happily had you disconnected and struggling over the last months and now is thoroughly annoyed that the grace of God has enabled you to turn the corner and recover lost ground! Actually this would be an ideal time to vocally praise and thank God. JoeJerk cannot bear to hear the name of Jesus exalted and if you ask Our Lady to join you, this will be icing on the cake!:)

In the Name of Jesus, in the Name of Jesus, we have the victory!
Oh, in the Name of Jesus, in the Name of Jesus, every demon has to flee!
For when we stand in the Name of Jesus, tell me, who can stand before us?
When we stand in the Name of Jesus, we have the victory!

Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

When I was young I was given a beautiful box of colouring pencils with every colour and shade you could imagine like a rainbow in front of me.

Of course some colours seemed more beautiful than others the reds, the yellows and blues. Some darker and to be avoided, the blacks the browns , the greys the mustard the purple. So my pictures were very bright with all my favourites. But anyone could have told you that my pictures were childish and lacked depth because they lacked these darker colours.

We are promised in scripture that for those who love God all things will work together unto the good. All things even the devils and encounters with evil. These are the darker colousr that complete the picture. They are if you like one of the things that makes are picture of life real. Otherwise our Catholicism is a kind of Pollyanna false smile.

For myself I would not say we have become friends, no never. But he has become to me like the guy I meet at mass each morning. I can't help learning from him..and dare I say growing from him. He is a bit like..well a sparring partner.

Dare I say it? I would say my own little run ins with him are a great gift from God.

At the end of the day he is a defeated foe. He got knocked out on Calvary. The only reality he can ever have is if we do as he tells us..and that is our own choice.

St Teresa said a nice thing, 'I fear a sour faced nun more than a hundred demons'. There is a lot of thruth in this. It is not the demons but those who do the demons bidding I am wary off.

That reminded me of my fathers old saying " I fear the living not the dead"

I guess I should have known better this time, as it is not the first time, I have had similar experiences before, how could have I forgot that once you leave the confessional the beast and his demons are blinded by the light of Christ, they don't know anything about you and have to start their tactics and attacks all over again. My only concern is although I described it as my fear at night, I think my biggest problem is not the actual fear of what is really happening but how I allow my imagination to run riot..

Scripture and the saints tell us over and over again not to be afraid. In fact , 'Do not be afraid', was the main theme and a very beautiful theme of St Pope John Paul's pontificate.

But I have to say I do not know how any soul who comes in close contact with the devil/demons could not do so without a certain fear. Supposing someone could come right up close without fear..we... where then is the virtue for the Christian soul in such a circumstance.

In was I do not think courage is in not having fear, courage is in having fear and yet not letting fear overcome us. Alos , in my experience these occult encounters are not all the of the same force. Sometimes a demon comes in to bat , sometimes a whole team of demons come into bat and sometimes it is as though the devil is in a real screaming rage, I am going to kill you kind of thing. Being honest I do not see how the bravest person who ever lived could face such a thing without fear.

St Joan of Arc was asked at her trial if what she saw, her visions and voices were not simply her imagination. To which she repied that of course it was a result of her imagination, otherwise in what other way would God speak?

In a way the devil is a bit like a Holywood film director with our imagination the screen on which he works.

St Rose of Lima had fear of the dark and She would fear going to Chapel without a lite candle. One time her parents paid her a visit and they went outside in the dead of nite with no candles. She reflected how she wasn't afraid with her parents and no candles to lite a path for them. This led her to understand later, shes the bride of Christ and Jesus is Always with her , the True light. She never feared the nite again ! I received Baptism in her Church on the Feast of the Holy name of Mary, so Shes one of my Advocates : )

One thing and one thing only is a sure knock out blow to the devil and that is humility. Which is why Our Lady and St Joe are such Terrors to them.

This expresses itself in the Fight by handing ourselves at once over to God. Not to think we can argue or fight ourselves but to hand the battle at once over to heaven. Knowing at once that only in God will victory be won. All else is pride and so all else is failure.

The soldier brothers I always feared the most were those who did not have the common sense to know fear, which is to say their own limitations. That wanted to fight on their own and without support.

It is a bit like the smallest kid who goes to school and finds a team of huge school bullies, He should at once look for help wherever he can get it. It would be crazy to fight on his own. He just can't win.

..and so he is humble enough and honest enough to beg for help.

The speed at which he does this and the hunger and need with which he does it are the indicators of his success. We see this with all the best exorcists.

But it is the same with all dealings with temptation and Christian life. We have to be humble and admit without God we just cannot do it.

    This is the secret.

This makes me realize there is a blessing in never receiving mystical experiences. It always seems that everyone (but me) has dreams or visions. I believe it to be a Blessing from God now because with mystical experiences from Above is also accompanied by below! One always likes to think they could handle it and be strong (ala St Peter) but when tested we fail more often than succeed. God knows us so well.

    God Bless!

I think everyone suffers from night time anxiety ... especially those of us with achy bones and ancient bladders :( All of our real-n-imagined troubles seem greatly magnified in the wee hours. My strangest wee hours "incidents" are those where I would swear that I was wide awake and felt something jump upon my bed .... like a large cat feels .... and, of course, nothing is there. In the past few years, I have used these wee hours as the time to increase my Prayer Life.

    GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!

I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of demonic visitation so easily. Or of souls from purgatory visiting.

Some people have a charism that they can "see the eternal" at times, or all the time. Both waking and sleeping.

These individuals are sometimes attacked to prevent them from exercising this charism for the good of souls. And venturing too close to the demonic is one way to invite attack (I know from personal accounts of someone very close to me with this charism that this is REAL, and that the demonic has appeared similar to the picture above, but a little more sinister looking/feeling, at times when having one foot in the water on both sides, as a young adult, seeking, alone in the big city).

Another way that attack can come on these individuals (and all of us as well, but we may not see it visually) is to enter into the spiritual warfare battle with too much confidence, or too little humility, or not enough protection. Sticking your head above the fox hole is going to identify you as engaged in battle, and if you have this charism as well, you are someone that evil will want to intimidate, corrupt or take down. I think these popular consecration devotions too, are akin to sticking that head out of the fox hole. If you choose to consecrate, be prepared for attack.

If deep prayer life, self-sacrifice, humility, sacraments, and constant conversation and petitions for divine protection are in place, then I don't think you are guaranteed not to be attacked, but you will have the help you need. However, if those things are in place, you may also be more visible as a means of help to souls in purgatory, and since they can perceive that you can see them, then they may visit you to request prayers and masses. Much like Padre Pio was visited, and so is the same person I am close to that I mentioned above (has received many of these visitations and can tell the difference).

I think it is true, Jon we walk the line between seeing the supernatural in everything and on the other hand seeing the supernatural in nothing.

It is seeing the difference between the two that we exercise Discernment of Spirits.

However I would say in our own present age the mistake we make is to see the supernatural nowhere, to dismiss it with modern magics such as psychology and science.

But I do believe the supernatural imposes itself much , much more frequently than any of us can ever believe. For instance in the case of the recently deceased coming back to visit their grieving relatives..well I believe this is quiet common. If you do not believe me ask any experienced priest (who is open to this) or check out some of the surveys that have been carried out. You are talking about really high percentages of folk who admit to having experienced such things.

Another example is incidences of natural disasters like planes crashing or boats sinking. If you check the stats for folks cancelling tickets prior to these events is very significantly statisticly higher than usual.

A contemporary event which i find fascinating and which is just redolent with supernatural goings on ,was 9/11, I ahve have lost count of the number of incredible stories I have heard surrounding this. I think what puts 9/11 apart is not only the huge mortality rate for a single incident but that Americans themselves tend to be a truly religious people much more open to the reality of the supernatural than most people...and so they reach out to God for help in prayer. But I am talking of a objective rather than a subjective reality. It really does happen.

Jon, what you said earlier explains so much for me. The mystical experiences I have had with evil as well as some souls from Purgatory (at least I think it was souls from purgatory because the 2 times this happened they both asked me simply to pray for them) all occurred after I made my consecration to Jesus through Mary. I have never asked for these things to happen but they have happened as well as some other things that I share here because you all are the only people in the world I feel comfortable sharing these experiences with. What I am coming to understand better though is that these things really only occur when God feels we are ready to handle them. He truly is the best, loving friend in the world. I think you have been tested in a way Quis, and I feel you passed the first round of the test. Fear is natural response to something like that, but the test was to see if you knew what to do when this occurred. You did what has been explained already and what we should all do in all our tests and all our life...surrender your will to God. We can do nothing by ourselves, we can do anything with God. I am trying more and more to understand and do this every day in my life. Every day at work, every meeting, every encounter with a person, everything with God and not with just myself. Invite Him in to everything you do and do this often throughout the day. I have been saying a rather simple prayer often throughout the day and it really is bringing me closer to God and He really is answering this prayer and teaching me.

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my Love, my All; I trust in you. Have mercy on me a sinner and teach me to trust better, to have greater faith, to love more and to be more humble on this day, in this moment better than before. Amen.
