The Church is born primarily of Christ’s total self–giving for our salvation, anticipated in the institution of the Eucharist and fulfilled on the cross. “The origin and growth of the Church are symbolized by the blood and water which flowed from the open side of the crucified Jesus.”171 “For it was from the side of Christ as he slept the sleep of death upon the cross that there came forth the ‘wondrous sacrament of the whole Church.’”172 As Eve was formed from the sleeping Adam’s side, so the Church was born from the pierced heart of Christ hanging dead on the cross.173 (813, 860, 1340, 617, 478)

1225 In his Passover Christ opened to all men the fountain of Baptism. He had already spoken of his Passion, which he was about to suffer in Jerusalem, as a “Baptism” with which he had to be baptized.22 The blood and water that flowed from the pierced side of the crucified Jesus are types of Baptism and the Eucharist, the sacraments of new life.23 From then on, it is possible “to be born of water and the Spirit”24 in order to enter the Kingdom of God. Marcel Lefebvre in 1981
In January 1975 the new Bishop of Fribourg stated his wish to withdraw the SSPX's pious union status. Though Lefebvre then had two meetings with the commission of Cardinals, the Bishop put his intention into effect on 6 May 1975,[54]thereby officially dissolving the Society.[Notes 16]This action was subsequently upheld by Pope Paul VI, who wrote to Archbishop Lefebvre in June 1975. Lefebvre continued his work regardless.[57]In theconsistoryof 24 May 1976,Pope Paul VIcriticized Archbishop Lefebvre by name and appealed to him and his followers to change their minds.[58]

On 29 June 1976, Lefebvre went ahead with planned priestly ordinations without the approval of the local Bishop and despite receiving letters from Rome forbidding them. As a result Lefebvre was suspendeda collatione ordinum,i.e., forbidden toordainany priests. A week later, the Prefect of theCongregation for Bishopsinformed him that, to have his situation regularized, he needed to ask the Pope's pardon. Lefebvre responded with a letter claiming that the modernisation of the Church was a "compromise with the ideas of modern man" originating in a secret agreement between high dignitaries in the Church and seniorFreemasonsprior to the Council.[59]Lefebvre was then notified that, since he had not apologised to the Pope, he was suspendeda divinis,[60]i.e., he could no longer legally administeranyof the sacraments.[61]Lefebvre remarked that he had been forbidden from celebrating the new rite of Mass.[62]Pope Paul VI apparently took this seriously and stated that Lefebvre "thought he dodged the penalty by administering the sacraments using the previous formulas."[Notes 17]In spite of his suspension, Lefebvre continued to pray Mass and to administer the other Sacraments, including the conferral of Holy Orders to the students of his seminary.

Pope Paul VI received Lefebvre in audience on 11 September 1976,[63]and one month later wrote to him admonishing him and, repeating the appeal he had made at the audience.[Notes 18]Pope John Paul IIreceived Lefebvre in audience sixty days after his 1978 election,[64]again without reaching agreement.

In his biography of Lefebvre,The Horn of the Unicorn,[page needed]David Allen White said that Lefebvre received a small number of votes (variously reported as three or "several") in the August 1978 conclave that electedPope John Paul I, a matter that, he said, caused some consternation among the cardinals, as Lefebvre was not a cardinal, and casting a vote for a non-cardinal in a papal election is unusual, although permitted by Church law.

In a 1987 sermon Lefebvre, at age 81, announced his intention to consecrate a bishop to carry on his work after his death.[Notes 19]This was controversial because, under Catholiccanon law, the consecration of a bishop requires the permission of the Pope.[Notes 20]

On 5 May 1988, Lefebvre signed an agreement with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (laterPope Benedict XVI) to regularize the situation of the Society of St Pius X. The cardinal agreed that one bishop would be consecrated for the society.[65]However, Lefebvre decided that he was obliged both to reject the arrangement he had agreed to and to ordain a successor—if necessary, without papal approval[Notes 21]—because Cardinal Ratzinger did not specify a date for the episcopal consecration.[66]The Pope appealed to him not to proceed in "aschismaticact", warning of "theological and canonical consequences".[Notes 22]

On 30 June 1988, Archbishop Lefebvre, with Bishop EmeritusAntônio de Castro MayerofCampos,Brazil, as co-consecrator, consecrated four SSPX priests as bishops:Bernard Tissier de Mallerais,Richard Williamson,Alfonso de GalarretaandBernard Fellay. The next day, 1 July, theCongregation for Bishopsissued a decree stating that this was aschismaticact and that all six people directly involved had thereby incurred automatic excommunication.[67]

On 2 July,Pope John Paul IIcondemned the consecration in his apostolic letterEcclesia Dei, in which he stated that the consecration constituted a schismatic act and that by virtue of canon 1382 of the Code of Canon Law,[Notes 1]the bishops and priests involved were automatically excommunicated.[Notes 23]

Lefebvre declared that he and the other clerics involved had not "separated themselves from Rome" and were therefore not schismatic[Notes 24]and that they "found themselves in a case of necessity", not having succeeded, as they said, in making "Rome" understand that "this change which has occurred in the Church" since the Second Vatican Council was "not Catholic".[Notes 25]In a letter addressed to the four priests he was about to consecrate as bishops, Lefebvre wrote: "I do not think one can say that Rome has not lost the Faith."[68]

The full 100% eclipse portion is the shortest of the century, if not the shortest ever. It's not just that it is about 5 minutes long. It is exactly 4:44 ( 4 minutes 44 seconds) on 4/4 (Aptil 4).......

Jon, your remarks on the coincidences of the number 4 above we on my mind all day yesterday.
(I shouldn't term it 'coincidence', I just don't believe much in that anymore - I think we all agree here that coincidences they are not.)
As I made my morning coffee, I was thinking that the eclipse, which was in progress as I made the coffee, but unfortunately, below the horizon from where I was standing. The number 4 still played on my mind.

So, I researched a little, and , while I've still no idea what 4 means, I did stumble across a webpage written by a Jewish Rabbi, discussing the significance of the number 4.
I was amazed to read the following remark:

"The number four, more than any other digit, plays a significant part in the Passover celebration. The Haggada is replete with things that number four:

Y There are the four sons,
    Y four glasses of wine,
    Y four questions.
Y Four mitzvot: Matza, maror, haggada, and four cups.
Y Three matzot which become four.

Pesach is preceded by four special Shabbats: Shabbat Shekalim, Shabbat Zakhor, Shabbat Parah, Shabbat HaChodesh.

The holiday itself even has four names: Chag HaPesach (the Festival of Passover), Chag HaMatzot (the Festival of Matza), Chag Ha’aviv (the Festival of Spring) and Z’man Cheiruteinu (the Time of our Freedom)."

I realize this is not Catholic commentary or theology, and I post it here for what it's worth.
But it is absolutely incredible that, as you pointed out, we've got a blood moon on a Jewish feastday, filled with 4's, and the Jews believe that the number 4 is particularly significant to Passover.

    Interesting.

Number Four By Rabbi Dr. Hillel ben David (Greg Killian)
    http://www.betemunah.org/four.html

Four is the value of the Hebrew letter dalet:ד.
    Dalet means door.
According to Chazal, our Sages, the number four signifies completion, wholeness, or fullness, as we shall see.
    The Maharal indicates that four:
    1. Indicates place because a “place” extends in the four directions. This is why we have expressions like, “the four corners of the earth”. We also indicate all directions by saying: North, East, West, and South. As it is spoken by the Prophet:
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 11:11-12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
    1. The number four symbolizes diversity, as the four directions are independent of each other and have no part in common.
The number four is a number of separation, and represents dispersal in all four directions. We see scripture describing division and separation as:
Zechariah 2:10 ...for I have scattered you like the four directions of the heavens.
Four is the number representing exile, as we shall see shortly.
    In the Torah
The first use of the number four, in the Torah, is found in connection with the water that flowed out of Gan Eden:
Bereshit (Genesis) 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
The four matriarchs; the four wives of Jacob: Leah, Rachel, Bilhah, and Zilpa.
Bereshit (Genesis) 47:24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
    Pesach
The number four, more than any other digit, plays a significant part in the Passover celebration. The Haggada is replete with things that number four:
    YThere are the four sons,
    Yfour glasses of wine,
    Yfour questions.
YFour mitzvot: Matza, maror, haggada, and four cups.
    YThree matzot which become four.

The number four signifies completion or fullness.
The number four signifies this completion, this fullness. The nation of Israel became full and complete upon the fulfillment of the fourth utterance of redemption, this fourth and final stage in their development.
The four questions known as Mah Nishtaneh, according to the Abarbanel, are meant to set the tone for the evening. The questions (or expressions of bewilderment, as some explain) are meant to point out the inherent contradictions in the evening. When the four questions are read, we are saying - Look at what will be going on tonight: We eat Matza and Maror, which remind us of the bread we ate as slaves and the bitter life we had as slaves. We then dip our food and recline, which are actions of the aristocracy. Is this night a reminder of the bitter experience we had in Egypt, or is it a celebration of freedom?
We know the answer: Yes, we were slaves, and yes, HaShem freed us. Why four questions? Perhaps because it is these very four questions which encapsulate the Seder. The questions focus on freedom vs. slavery. How can we have both in one night? These four questions are enough to set the very tone we need on this night. They are a perfect summation of all that needs to be said in order to get the ball rolling at the Seder. They point out four practices that are unique to this evening, and that do not all fit into the same logical category. They are a set of questions that are complete and full. Nothing more needs to be asked. Only answers are needed.
The Divrei Negidim explains that the four sons are also a ‘complete set’. The Hakham, the Wise Son, wants to know. He researches. He inquires. He pursues knowledge and wisdom. He becomes wise. For this reason, he is called the Wise Son. The Tam, the Simple Son, is neither intellectually superior nor inferior to the Wise Son. However, he does not pursue intellectual growth. He does not strive for greatness. When he sees something out of the norm, he will inquire. However, unless there is an impetus to inquire, no query will be forthcoming. For this reason, he is termed Simple. The She’aino Yodai’a Lish’ol, the One Who Does Not Know How To Ask, is simply not as smart as the other two. Even when he sees something that is unusual, he will not inquire about it. Oddities are no inspiration for education. He just does not know how to ask even when questions are most definitely appropriate. The Rasha, the Wicked Son, is on par with the Hakham. He is smart. He does have a drive for the bigger and better. However, his drive is motivated by a desire to do evil. He has no urge to do good. Any knowledge gained is used for the pursuit of the amoral. His wisdom is not put to ‘good’ use. For this reason, he is called Wicked.
These four sons represent all the elements on the intellectual spectrum. There are those who are highly motivated, minimally motivated, and those who need more than motivation to bring them to a level of understanding. The Torah addresses the needs of each of these children by instructing a father how to tell each of these children about the departure from Egypt in a way that best suits their level of understanding. But what about that child who knows just fine what is going on, but could care less? What about that son who is not using his knowledge for good, productive purposes? The Torah has an answer for him as well.
These four sons and their respective responses are all the Torah needed to cover any situation. They are complete. They satisfy all options. Again, the number four signals a whole, a fullness, and a completion.

A whole lot more on the number 4 http://www.betemunah.org/four.html
