Firemen we going out to put out what they thought were fires when the 'sign' that Lucia spoke of took place. It was literally something upon them, not just something in the sky. I presume that the same deception will occur when miracles start to take place in the very near future. There is no doubt that some will even try to spin the Warning as some type of natural experience when it takes place.

Of course they will Fatima! We know once you come out of that experience (if you come out of it) the choice will be clear for you, for God or against. If you choose against then let the deception and games begin and spin, spin, spin for their tongues will be completely taken over by Satan.

Ah, Mac, my friend, I have not made myself clear. Few things would delight me as much as for the Warning to come as you interpret it. If that were to happen, there would be no need for the Storm. nearly all would be converted, and neither I nor the world would have to suffer the agonies ahead.

Rather, I am informed that the Lord's anger is kindled at all - apostates for never opening their heart to Him at all and the faithful who have overlayed the certainty of their own expectations onto His word. It is for this that He allows the crushing of all vanity and certainty, that our hearts may be truly prepared to receive the world He will give us after the rescue at the hands of Our Lady. I am led to believe that the world will crave a sign - a universal sign - but no such sign will be given until the rescue. We must turn our hearts to Him as a matter of our will.

If you are right in your interpretation, than all will be illuminated in the same instant, almost all will be converted - and I can go home. If my interpretation is right, then I will have to slog on, working to let people know that Garabandal is authentic, regardless of failed interpretations; that God has not forsaken us and that, with trust, the next right step, and being a sign of hope to those around us, we will find Him right before us, leading us on.

So if I am right, I will have the burden of re-igniting hope in those who relied on an interpretation that was not precise. If you are right, I am spared the trouble. The irony is that, while you obliquely denounce me for my 'spin' on the matter - if you are right, I will almost certainly be happier about it than you.

This is pure opinion and I can't offer any sources but...I think we are to have 7 really crappy years broken up into 3 distinct parts.

1st part : 3 1/2 years of wars/rumors of wars (happening globally), famine (always happening), civil unrest (happening now), financial collapse (happening globally), apostasy from the true Church (happening now), extreme/unusual weather etc.......
2nd part: the eye of the storm- the "illumination of conscience" where the people with hearts of rock will reject the Lord's mercy and those of goodwill will embrace Him as Savior. Now, some may interject and say "well everyone would convert if this happens", NOT SO. Think of the angels that were in the presence of God. Their battle cry was "WE WILL NOT SERVE!" and so it will be, also, for many people at the illumination. I believe the devil will offer them a "way out" of the shame and guilt they are feeling. Battle lines will be drawn.
3rd part: The sh#t really hits the fan now. The enemies of God will wish to extinguish the faithful and will stop at nothing (with satan as their master and instigator). This is where the Church goes underground. Public worship will not be tolerated. Many martyrs will be made in this stage. The world's population will dwindle from both sides of the battle due to earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes erupting, possible nuclear war- though that may happen in the 1st part also.
Then, when all seems lost.....THE TRIUMPH of the Immaculate Heart of Mary which I believe is the 3 days of darkness. Evil is exterminated. The tiny remnant that Mary protected and brought through the storm will be tasked with starting anew.

But this is just my opinion.

Brilliant synopsis of how Charlie sees his role in the storm (in his latest blog),

What has struck me forcefully from Charlie's blog/teaching is that we humans are really prone to self-delusion especially in our relationship with God (well at least I am!)/ We need to take a real hard look in the mirror and be honest with ourselves - illumination will come with humility.

    Charlie:
At the heart of what I am called to is a central prophetic message and three prime duties. Attached to the three duties are job titles I am given. I will elaborate on the message and the duties here, though I do not care to speak of the job titles.

    The central prophetic message is:

BE NOT AFRAID: GOD CALLS ALL MEN TO SALVATION.

This seems simple, but embeds some serious subtleties. How can you be not afraid when the greatest period of violence and terror in history is engulfing you? You will be swept away if you trust to yourself and your mighty strength. The ONLY way is to hold fast to God. It is a call to a radical reliance on God. The second portion is routinely violated by most of the most pious people. They think God calls all people “like them” to salvation – or that they are to teach people to be “like them” in order to attain salvation. Before this Storm is over, almost everyone is going to be broken down and rebuked – taught that we all have been tried and found seriously wanting. Many of your greatest certainties are going to be crushed and you are going to feel completely lost and alone. Then you will understand the fulness of this message: it is not that God calls you to go out and convince more people to be like you; it is an assurance when your vanity and petulance, your shortfalls are fully revealed to you that God has not abandoned you, but intends your reclamation and salvation.

    The first duty is to:

    DEFEND THE FAITH

This seems straightforward enough, but it entails more than defending the faith from the assaults from without. The unconscious assaults from within, borne by disordered vanity are, in many ways, more dangerous in these times. There are theologians and intellectuals who have reduced the Scriptures to a mere intellectual Rubik’s Cube. they think they have learned the essence of Christ and are its exclusive arbiters. While it is good to seek wisdom, the best of our wisdom is as flimsy as straw. There are those who impose mystical significance on everything, constantly gilding the lily of God’s work. They mean well, but they have gilded so much that outsiders see all gilding and no lily – and reasonably conclude this is of man’s making, not God’s. Too much mystical overlays have obscured the lily for those who do not already believe. Trust me, God is not pleased about this.

I am usually very hard on those who seek, with great erudition, to undermine the legitimacy of the hierarchy. A Catholic man I know asked why I am so hard on that when I so freely greet Protestant brethren as full partners in the work before us. I am on the ship of Catholicism. It does not trouble me (in fact, it soothes me) that there are many other boats in our vicinity, all headed in the same direction we are. That is a whole different thing from assaulting the ship from without or fomenting mutiny from within. I will be equally vigorous in defending the faith from either. Now if the mutineers would cease to dishonestly call themselves Catholic and get their own boat, I would be glad to have them nearby for the journey provided they also ceased their assaults.

    HEARTEN THE FAITHFUL

This website is one of the first public steps in that particular duty. I do not write it to give you prophecy, theology, or reports of visitations, though all are incorporated into the purpose. It is to give people heart – to see that God is there, that He is close at hand to YOU, and that He asks only the simple things from you that you can do – and will reveal Himself to you as you live that with fidelity. As times go on, though, things will get trickier. God’s anger is not just kindled against those who overtly oppose Him. His anger has been kindled against almost all, for like Job’s friends, most of us have absorbed ourselves in our expectations of what God should be rather than engaging with the Living God. The biggest of those expectations are going to fall like old timber under the onslaught of a flood. As they do, many will have their faith shaken – and I will work to give them new heart – to see with clear certainty that it is merely their expectations that have failed, not God. I know many expect an undeniable, visible worldwide miracle before the rescue. I am almost certain it will not happen that way. First, it almost never does – God always leaves room for plausible doubt. Second, I am informed that while God will reveal Himself in small groups that are cooperating simply with each other under His guidance, He will seem to have forsaken the larger world for most of the Storm. That is because He intends that EACH of us fully see how pitiful our competence is, that our confidence in ourselves be crushed so that we may turn our hearts decisively to Him. After all have lost hope, then He will manifest that most rarity of rarities, a visible undeniable miracle visible to all – the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart and our rescue. It is because we will not be suited to populate the world as He intends it until all vestiges of vanity and self-will are crushed. I will help give people heart by telling them credibly what is actually being crushed – and what is being built.

    DEFEND THE FAITHFUL

This is fairly obvious, too. But it does NOT just refer to “spiritual warfare.” We in the west have lived in a coccoon of safety for several hundred years now. It has reduced our thinking on temporal battle and strife to mere formulaic platitudes. But the violence you read about with horror is coming to your door soon enough – and formulaic platitudes are not a defense. The Scripture that “…he who lives by the sword will die by the sword…” is often quoted to urge unrelenting pacifism. But it is tyrants and oppressors, those who rely on force to compel their will, who live by the sword. To defend, even with violent force, those who are violently assaulted, is not living by the sword. And now both you and nations have a great and terrible responsibility. If you attack with violence when diplomacy would have resolved the strife, you will be held to account. If you allow people to be violated when you could have stopped it with vigorous force, you will be held to account. Sounds impossible. It is. So you better trust God, do your duty, and abandon pious-sounding formulas.

Even in the little things, God prepares things so that all may see the evidence of His grace. There will be a time when I spend much time visiting and offering hope to many refugees who have been forced to flee their homes and are homeless. It will be a comfort to them to know that I made myself homeless for a year and a half when it was not necessary, but for love and trust during my pilgrimage – and that I come to offer them hope not as one who has not known privation and exposure, but as one who has lived by choice what they are living by necessity. It is a benefit of my pilgrimage that I did not recognize until after it was over.

With Job, throughout my life it has pleased God to take me into the whirlwind with Him. Like Job, what I have seen does not convince me how wise and clever I am – but exactly the opposite. With Job, I put my hand over my mouth for I have seen marvelous things too great for me. That, in the end, is what God wanted me to see above all. Theology, while useful, will not lead us certainly to God. Prophecy, while useful, can endanger us if we are filled with pride over our ‘understanding’ of it. Mystical experiences can come from the devil as well as from God – and will come from satan if that is what we glory in. The only safe, sure path I know to God is, in submission to the authority He established over us, to acknowledge Him, take the next right step, and be a sign of hope to those around us. Trust. Do. Love. That is the sure path. To keep that reality vivid before a world in turmoil, a world falling in on itself, is what I am sent for. And when the rescue is complete, I will leave the public scene entirely except to advocate for and raise money for the raising of the great Shrine of thanksgiving for our rescue.

    Dear Charlie,
Have just read your latest piece (with which I very much agree) on Kelly Bowring ... I took a look at his website and was very saddened by what I found, not only in terms of content but also more generally in relation to his methodology in interpreting alleged prophetic material. It is precisely this kind of interpretation which gives private revelation a bad name and has persuaded many people that it is best ignored completely because it has been espoused by reactionary and schismatic elements within the Church.

I was particularly dismayed by the concatenation of unsourced quotes from Pedro Regis which, when examined in detail (as I hope to demonstrate when I have a moment) in the original context absolutely do not bear the weight of interpretation that KB has given them. This is at best poor and naive reading influenced by pre-conceived notions and coloured by what can most charitably be termed misguided zeal. We for example find the statement (emphasis mine) -

With all these prophecies about the False Prophet antipope, who then is the “Peter the Roman” of St. Malachy’s prophecy, who is supposedly currently reigning as the final pope of this era? Well, the prophetic messages of Pedro Regis, who has his Bishop’s recognition, have stated that this is none other than St. Peter spiritually reigning over the Church now from Heaven, because according to their prophecies, the earthly papacy is now vacant, held by an imposter.

It should be said unequivocally that to draw sedevacantist conclusions from messages to Pedro Regis (interpreted in highly contestable fashion) by means of an entirely speculative correlation between them and the alleged prophecy of St Malachy regarding 'Petrus Romanus' (applied to Pope Francis) is an argument which falls short of any reasonable benchmark of responsible scholarship.

Thank you, Peter. When you do have a moment, I may "borrow" your material as kind of a guest column again. I am sure you would have some penetrating insight on how to assess such things that would be useful to my readers as well.

I was talking to Mother Superior about you the other day and told her how glad I was you agreed to do the guest column a few weeks ago. It was immensely valuable both because you had something to say worth hearing AND because it was a marvelous object lesson to people on how to critique things seriously and properly without going into schism or even disrespect for proper authority, much less disobedience. It is a wonderful contribution you make. She sent me some photos of you at work. You are a dashing young fellow!

I LOVE scrambled eggs, Bartimeus. It's not hard to find good scrambled eggs - but few diners make hash browns that are worth the name. When you do get a good batch, crisp and buttery on the outside, creamy distinctive potato on the inside, I think it a taste of what we might eat in heaven (at least I hope!). So how are you on hash browns?

In my experience the miraculous always works through the natural.
It seems more a case of BOTH AND rather than EITHER OR.

The phenomenon Lucia (and most of Europe and even Australia) observed in 1938 was, in newspaper reports of the times, not really much different (apart from intensity maybe) from similar phenomena reported in recent memory. For example newspaper reports of 1872 April 17, Aug 16th 1882, appear much the same as those of Jan 25, 1938 - one has only to look them up on the Net.

    http://www.solarstorms.org/NewsPapers/1882t.pdf
    http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/for...kys-on-fire-the-great-aurora-of-january-1938/

All accounts mention the red/pink glow in the sky that led many to believe the sky or nearby cities were on fire.
All mention either curtain or coronal or ray light patterns in the sky depending on what place the observers were at.
All mention disruption to terrestrial electrical systems (notably telegraph).
All occurred at peak times in the sun's 11 year cycle of sunspot activity.

Here is historical data re observed sunspot activity:
Notice how 1938 coincides perfectly with the height of this roughly 11 year solar sunspot cycle - which is when massive Aurora's have occurred in recent history.
Looks and smells like its pretty much in the same league as those preceding major phenomenon to me.

If we look at yearly average sunspot counts (from a different data source) for the period 1925-1952 we get:
    44 (1925),63,69,78,65,36,21,11,6 (1933),9,36,80,114,110 (1938),89,68,48,31,16,10 (1944),33,93,151,136,135,84,70,32 (1952)

So we can see the cycle repeating over and again with 1938 clearly being at a sunspot peak part of the cycle.
So if this is directly from God's will, totally ignoring His created natural causality, ... then God has gone to a lot of trouble to give a good imitation of natural causality .
He's slowly built up the sun for the 1938 event since 1933 - as happened with preceding Auroras.

In short I don't really see why God cannot prophecy rare natural phenomena to confirm the credibility of his Seers and their Apparitions.
As Aquinas was want to say, "the supernatural builds on nature, it doesn't deny it". Such prophecy is still "miraculous" and beyond human capacity.
Why do all God's mighty wonders have to be so 'in your face" and completely defiant of human explanation and reason?

I don't believe "of an unknown origin" has to be interpreted so rigidly.
For a start it would be interesting to know what Lucia actually said/meant in her native tongue (presumably Portuguese).
Fact is, even in the late 1800s, scientists (let alone the general population) weren't as sure as we are now re the mechanism of Aurora's.
Some newspapers talked about the Magnesium hypothesis (being spewed from the sun) but concluding the exact natural cause is "unknown."
I suggest this could be where Lucia, certainly no scientist in her cloister in the 1930s, "was at".

In any case there are other interpretations of "of an unknown origin".
Even in Jesus's own time his humanness and homeliness was an obstacle to belief for some "for we know this man and where he comes from..." Yet they didn't really.
Much of "science" and human life is like that. We know the surface only.
We don't really know what causes solar flares to happen every 11 years or why any particular one should be aimed at earth at important times in human history.
And, strictly speaking "supernatural" means of "heaven" (caelum) which, literally, means "sky."

All of God's wonders/miracles seem to have an element of small ambiguity.
They don't totally "rape" the human mind/will.
God graciously respects our freedom and leaves room for free-will, for denial or doubt (which need not always be malicious).
