1. Ebola has 21 days before any symptoms shown 2. No vaccine or treatment available 3. It has started in one of the poorest and uneducated parts of the world 4. The limited doctors and nurses in these countries are dying...hospitals are being closed. This is a PLAGUE...God warned us, now its coming to pass. From the articles i have read, the only way to stop Ebola is to quarantine the sick and follow up with those that they have had contact-with. There is no follow-up currently going on. Therefore, we have infected spreading the disease. People walking, working and playing that have no idea they are infected. Then the newly infected have 21 days to pass it on. This is tragic, no one wants to say it but they have to shut airports and borders. And that might be too late. Prayer and fasting might be only remedy. May Gods Will be Done
The problem is not so much the virus as the fear of the virus. I have seen none at all in the media address this. The sheer terror it will cause when it comes..as come it will into our cities.
dr. Brantly’s account came in a press release from Samaritan’s Purse, the international Christian humanitarian organization he had been working for. “I am writing this update from my isolation room at Emory University Hospital, where the doctors and nurses are providing the very best care possible,” he wrote from Atlanta. “I am growing stronger every day, and I thank God for His mercy as I have wrestled with this terrible disease.” May Gods Will be Done
People who do not pray have no reserves to cope. So fear always rules them. The people who organised all this knew this. They will be able to introduce any emergency legislation they like..and they will.
Brantly, a 33-year-old Texas-trained doctor, went to Liberia last October to serve as a general practitioner, delivering babies and performing surgeries. “One thing I have learned is that following God often leads us to unexpected places,” he wrote Friday. “When Ebola spread into Liberia, my usual hospital work turned more and more toward treating the increasing number of Ebola patients.” His wife, Amber, and their children Ruby, 5, and Stephen, 3, had returned to Texas in mid-July to visit relatives. Brantly planned to join them and attend a family wedding before becoming sick. “When I started feeling ill on that Wednesday morning, I immediately isolated myself until the test confirmed my diagnosis three days later,” he said. “When the result was positive, I remember a deep sense of peace that was beyond all understanding. God was reminding me of what He had taught me years ago, that He will give me everything I need to be faithful to Him. “Now it is two weeks later, and I am in a totally different setting. My focus, however, remains the same — to follow God. As you continue to pray for Nancy and me, yes, please pray for our recovery. More importantly, pray that we would be faithful to God's call on our lives in these new circumstances.” The World has Saints closer then we think May Gods Will be Done
I suppose we don't know where this will head. I work in Public Health and am waiting for direction as we speak. We were so incredibly prepared for Avian Flu and nothing transpired. Then H1N1 hit the US a few years later and was so virulent and our vaccines didn't cover it adequately. God's will as always shall be done on this. Ebola is scarey and I mentioned this on a previous thread. It is such a horrific death, bleeding to death, basically. Thus a Hemorrhagic Fever and don't forget that one strain of Ebola (Marburg?) went airborne to control monkeys. Viruses adapt well in their hosts and replicate and mutate in order for their best shot at survival. I too fear this might be a Pandemic Plague. It certainly has the potential.
The last 'big' worldwide pandemic occurred 1918 - the Spanish Flu outbreak - killed between 3 and 5% of the world's population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic
My understanding is that Ebola is contagious only once symptoms appear? Is that your understanding?, I didn't know that a strain of Ebola has been documented as airborne. When I see doctors and nurses contracting it, I just have to believe this strain is airborne. In the thick of the AIDS epidemic, I only heard of one or two medical staff members contracting it, and then, through needle sticks. I personally took care of more than one AIDS patient who spat in our faces and scratched us, trying to give us the disease! And no one was infected.
Hi Kathy....for your reading pleasure.....it has the capacity to be airborne in the laboratory....it's Reston, not Marburg....I was mistaken and it has to do with pigs being greater aerosolizers than humans....who knows? these viruses are very adaptable. http://crofsblogs.typepad.com/h5n1/2014/08/dr-smith-are-we-sure-ebola-isnt-airborne.html
It requires direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person. From what I've read the first known case this year was March 2014. A total of 1779 suspected cases with 961 deaths have been reported by WHO as of 6 August 2014, of which 1134 cases and 622 deaths have been laboratory confirmed to be Ebola. This is a relatively small number in that timeframe. It could come here (Canada) but as Padraig said the fear will likely be greater than the actual disease. Our healthcare system can handle this rate of transmission and with quarantine get it to run it's course. Should something major breakout dispite the odds no healthcare system is designed to handle a major plague. Keep your praying up and follow the path God leads. If you or your family members are being called home nothing can change that. We are called to not be afraid to die, sounds simple but when tested I wonder how strong I will be. I feel like I would be. Having any of my family die would be harder, but if I REALLY believe the faith, they are the lucky ones. It's possible this could trigger the collapse of the economy so hanging by a thread, I am thinking not at this point but something will soon enough. An airborn plague certainly would. September school return could be interesting if it is here by then since kids interact more closely then most adults do at work. As for practical things.....I've used colloidal silver in the past and although I don't know if it would help with this I might pick up some more just to have around. Not intending to add fear to anyone, hard times are coming without question though so we all will have to practise what we preach and believe. Peace
I've heard from doctors on the radio that Ebola is only contagious once symptoms appear. So the 21 incubation period is 'safe'. But to be honest, I wouldn't like to chance a conversation with an infected individual after eg 14 days. Not unless I was dressed in a space suit.
I will have to return to this prayer...And wear it. The Prayer: Oh, St Joseph , whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh, St Joseph , do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanks giving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, Saint Joseph , I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss his fine head for me and ask him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. Saint Joseph, patron of departing souls - pray for me. It is said that this prayer was found in the fiftieth year or Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. Whoever shall read this prayer, or hear it or keep it about themselves shall never die a sudden death, or be drowned, nor shall poison take effect of them; neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy, or shall be burned in any fire or shall be overpowered in battle.
Wow never realized the time on Spanish flu. One year after Fatima began and I think the start of Satans 75-100 years.
This prayer brings me back so many years and makes me laugh and smile. In 1972 when the war here was very bad , especially here in North Belfast this prayer to St Joseph was very, very popular. People used to buy the prayer in little plastic envelopes with 'gold' plastic medals on top and it was regarded by everyone as an infallible remedy. There were a series of promises connected with it one of which was (from memory); 'None who carries this prayer on their person will ever be captured or come to any harm by their enemies'. So of course my mother bought up all the prayers in the Holy shop and gave one to each of us ten kids as, I suspect did every Catholic mum in the city at the time. Like I say it wildly popular because of the promise. So any way my brother Ciaran got arrested and very badly beaten and tortured by members of the British Parachute Regiment (with lit cigarette butts) and was interned (imprisoned without trial) on the Prison Ship Maidstone. The first thing my mother did when she visited him on the ship was to check if he had been carrying the St Joseph Prayer. He was. My mother was totally disillusioned poor woman. The first thing she said to me was, 'No more St Joseph prayers' . Maidstone Prison Ship
Agreed Padraig, its promises do seem a little over the top. It was in our home in this old Pieta prayer book....http://www.medjugorje.org/pieta.htm
I like to believe Mac if we really believe and trust in the promises God will cover our bets. Though of course it is not magic. God can do as He likes and always rolls the dice in our favour. A man told me one time he used to be in the habit of saying the rosary in his car. One day while driving the beads got tied up in his steering wheel causing him to swerve on the wrong side of the road. As he did so a big truck came round the corner on its wrong side of the road. If the beads had not put him over he would have been flattened.
Ebola may be a plague, however the plagues that scripture speak of in the the Revelations "7 Seals of the apacolypse" comes from the 4th horseman, after the second horseman which is war, followed by the 3rd which is famine. Mark also say's "The seals are not necessarily confined to a chronological order. Thus, one could rightly say that one seal bleeds into another". I refer you to Mark Malletts writing on this http://www.markmallett.com/blog/the-seven-seals-of-revolution/
