The important thing is to always live in the Divine Presence which means in this present moment. I just love Jesus so much for His wisdom and kind council - I believe these words are for our generation: "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life -- whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing? Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not. "And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you? You have so little faith! "So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
Astonishing pictures. Never thought I'd see this in Texas. Masked individuals with heavy weapons are never a good sight.
Our Lord and his Blessed mother brought us in to the country life 16 years ago. An acreage that has all the means necessary to live off of. 1.5 years ago we had a terrbile ice storm, followed by a snow storm in the spring that took us off the grid for 5 full days. I had a generator, but needed to wire it up to feed the place. It kept us from cold day's and cold nights for a week with running water. Needless to say, this was a blessing as it made me most aware of my weaknesses. Some are prepared for a few weeks or months, but I am banking on 2-3 years or more of tribulation before there is a break (could be way off). I was awoken this moring with something telling me we have very little time left to make our contingencies, as hyper infllation will be setting in very very soon and what we can buy today will cost double and tripple or more soon. If anyone has the means for a hand well pump visit www.bisionpumps.com which can pump fresh water from 200' down. Later this week I will be getting my best contingency in place. A priest friend will be visiting and I am having him bless our home and our home boundries, including our wells.
I agree but it says so much about the desperateness of the situation. I also think it is a sign of what will come when the rule of law, the fabric of a society is gone. I also believe this plays right into Obama's hand and why he will issue executive order after executive order curtailing civil rights under the guise of "security" and restoring order.
Hi Fatima- We had a priest friend do this in our home- every single room - even the bathroom . We have sprinkled blessed skate around the perimeter of the house. I live less than 2o miles from NYC - I think any "physical" prep here (other than done water and canned food) is futile so I'm trusting in God to let us know where we will need to go or if we stay.
Looking at this situation from thousands of miles away, I genuinely feel for the good people of Texas and the chaos at the border causing such stress and anxiety at the moment.
Eventually the Union will end and never come back. I suspect the end of big Government is no loss. Smaller Governments will find it harder to chase us.
How can you have a war on "terrorism" and be involved in other conflicts and not protect your borders? You may be letting in the "evil-doers"? What is the agenda? Cui bono? Certainly not the people of the US.
I have a strong sense that the situation at the US/Mexican border is orchestrated, and the response of the good people of Texas (heavily armed, especially in rural areas) will be the flashpoint for martial law.
See what happens when you type fast and use a darn IPad! We didn't skate around the house but dud sprinkle blessed SALT!
The Holy Spirit has been leading me to store up supplies for some time. We also have a well in our back yard that is not operational, and I'm itching to get it going. (Thanks, Fatima, for the tip about bison pumps). I've only made two "big" purchases, around $100 each: a rocket stove for outside cooking that needs just a few twigs or charcoal to make a fire and produces very little smoke (http://ecozoomstove.com/) and a berkey water filtration system (http://www.berkeyfilters.com/) I sense the important thing initially is to have enough supplies to shelter in place when the social fabric breaks down, because there will be panic in the streets. I believe there is no way to store enough goods to get through this storm. I've been led to read how God cared for the chosen people during the exodus, and the prophet Elijah during the 3 year drought. He is a VERY BIG GOD, and our Blessed Mother has promised us protection. I also believe that if you have not been led to store up supplies, and you are living a life of prayer, devoted to the Blessed Mother, it is because you, like Padraig, will be making your own personal flight into Egypt.
Pelianito has a very good post on this topic from 7/3/2012: The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry… Published by pelianito “VAIN is the man who puts his trust in men, in created things. Do not be ashamed to serve others for the love of Jesus Christ and to seem poor in this world. Do not be self-sufficient but place your trust in God. Do what lies in your power and God will aid your good will.“ –Imitation of Christ What we have sown in this generation, we are now reaping. However, our Lord has not abandoned us. He has given us many prophecies so that we may remain awake and sober in these times. We Christians are called to be people of hope, no matter how little evident reason there is to hope. Our Lord has promised to be with us in our trial in miraculous ways. Those who call on him, he will hear. One of the hardships we may face in the time to come is a shortage of provisions. I have felt called recently to put together a blessing to be recited morning and/or evening over one’s provisions. However, this blessing is not intended to be one of protection per se. We are not survivalists relying on our own shrewdness and power. This is a blessing of gratitude, trust, and generosity modeled on the generosity of God. We must be prudent, awake, and ready, trusting in God’s providence, yet willing to share what he provides to the last grain of rice. Through this prayer we ask the blessing of the miracle of the loaves and the fishes over our food supply*, not just for our own consumption, but so that we might have enough for our needs and the needs of those God sends us. Remember that the miracle of the loaves started with a small amount shared, not hoarded. If we are willing to share, the Lord will surely bless us**, for he is a Father who knows how to give good things to his children. Let us continue to pray and fast so that our faith may not fail. We who have never been hungry really do not know how we will react. May Jesus conquer our weakness with his infinite strength through the prayers of his Immaculate Mother. Readings: *A reading from Matthew 14: 19-20 Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, (Jesus) said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the fragments left over–twelve wicker baskets full. **A Reading from 1 Kings 17:13-16 “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you propose. But first make me a little cake and bring it to me. Then you can prepare something for yourself and your son. For the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, until the day when the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’” She left and did as Elijah had said. She was able to eat for a year, and he and her son as well; The jar of flour did not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, as the LORD had foretold through Elijah. Prayer of blessing: You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, Say to the LORD, “My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust.” 1 Heavenly Father, you opened up springs and torrents, brought dry land out of the primeval waters. Yours the day and yours the night; you set the moon and sun in place. You fixed all the limits of the earth; summer and winter you made. 2 Fill us with your kindness in the morning 3 and through this day. We shall sing of your strength, extol your love at dawn and dusk, For you are our fortress, our refuge in time of trouble. You are our strength, your praise we will sing 4, O loving God. Heavenly Father, through the prophet you said, “All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; Come, without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk! Why spend your money for what is not bread; your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat well, you shall delight in rich fare.” 5 And through the psalmist you reassured us again: For he rescues the poor when they cry out, the oppressed who have no one to help. He shows pity to the needy and the poor and saves the lives of the poor. 6 Here I am, afflicted and poor. God, come quickly! You are my help and deliverer. LORD, do not delay! 7 We believe that the LORD works wonders for the faithful; the LORD hears when we call out. 8 He is mindful that we are flesh, a breath that passes and does not return. 9 That is why, in his mercy, God rained manna upon them for food; bread from heaven he gave them. 10 Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals. For he satisfied the thirsty, filled the hungry with good things. 11 Holy is his name. 12 For he is our God and we are his people, the flock he shepherds. 13 Lord, we humbly thank you for your mercy, goodness, and generosity. Jesus we trust in YOU to manage our every need through the intercession of Mary Immaculate and the Gloriana*. Amen. (If time allows add the Magnificat [Luke 1:38-55], the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and/or the Guardian Angel Prayer. Pray the Psalms often. They are a treasure in times of trial.) (* Gloriana: The angels and saints in perfect communion with the Blessed Trinity; the perfect unity of heaven.) 1 Psalm 91: 1-2 2 Psalm 74:15 -17 3 Psalm 90:14 4 Psalm 59: 17 -18 5 Isaiah 55:1-2 6 Psalm 72:12-13 7 Psalm 70: 6 8 Psalm 4:4 9 Psalm 78 : 39 10 Psalm 78: 24 11 Psalm 106 (107) 8-9 12 Luke 1:49 13 Psalm 95:7
Just this week-end, I gave my DH one of Charlie's posts to read, and told him the extent of what I believe is coming. He mulled on it a couple of days, then yesterday asked, "You're still paying the mortgage, right?" I reassured him that I'm not doing anything crazy, and pointed out that I'm not afraid. He said, "Yeah, but you're scaring me to death!" He did say he's feeling it too, that the weight of sin is too much, and God must intervene. Charlie's wisdom that we are called to be a sign of hope is right on, I think. When all are in panic around us, think what a magnet we will be for God! We will be able to tell anyone who asks that this is not the end, but the end of the age. This is a terrible storm, but it will end. And that our loving Father, seeing that this world is no longer a place where His precious children can thrive, is cleansing the earth of evil. And we have an era of peace, the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to look forward to.
I also think we need to ask the Lord to prepare our hearts for the massive death that is coming. So many times, I've seen in my work that dealing with death is where the rubber meets the road in our faith. So many believers fall quickly into despair when faced with mortality. We need to pray for the faith to see everything as coming from the hand of God, even when it hurts. When there is massive loss of life from disasters and plagues, we need to remember that God in his infinite kindness, knows what each person can bear. His goal is to get everyone safely home for eternity. We need to pray to accept that His plan is always for the good of everyone we love, and all of our brothers and sisters.
Coming from Hurricane country, I have always felt the need to have stored jugs and bottles of water at home- more so now. Water just seems to be what I am called to have on hand. But there is one more thing I felt I needed to do- months ago on Catholic Radio I heard of this organization that supplies solar lamps, with ability to charge phones to third world countries or those with no electricity to give them a means of light of course, but also a way to earn a living., for safety, for education use. This organization also sells to the public and monies go to operational costs for their ministry etc, So I am now the proud owner of a solar lamp, solar head lamp, with USB chargers that run on solar power. Just felt "right" to have... Anyone interested the company is Watts of Love.
two years ago my husband and i both got the "prepare!" word in our hearts the same night. Since going to mass, confession, and the rosary were already a constant in our family, we began to prepare physically. We sat down, made a list of necessities and spent the next 6 months stockpiling. We now have 2 years worth of food for 7 people, boxes and boxes of medicals supplies, cases of candles, woodstove for heat/cooking, sewing supplies, scapulars, rosaries, holy water, solar chargers, crank radios and a secluded 6 acre piece of land we aren't sure what is for. 2 weeks ago I felt my guardian angel telling me to circle my house with holy water, urgently, which i did immediately. And now......we wait....
