Thanks Jerry, as Padraig has mentioned on the forum before ...'not to throw the baby out with the bath water.' So I do hope others would still watch what Michael has to say . Will do on the posting request
One thing occurs to me with Michael Voris is that he points the finger all the time at the priests and Bishops/Cardinals rather than the lay folk. Pointing the finger at the powers that be is always popularist. Pointing the finger at the rest of us maybe less so. When I was young my father used to take us seven boys up to the Redemptorist Confraternity every Tuesday night, it was jammed packed. Over the years though the numbers died and died and eventually they had to close shop? Why? Well I expect it had a lot to do with TV, especially Football on TV, the men just wanted to sit in. Times changed and all kind of things people did not bother with, benediction, the rosary, confession, the yearly mission, eventually they stopped going even to mass itself, they had better things to do. So did I. I have no wish to let some of the Bishops and priests of the hook, many of them were ..well...not what we might have hoped they would be. But I think the main burden of guilt for the walk out of the lay folk is the lay folk themselves. This would not be a popular thing to say , which is maybe why no one ever says it, but I think it has to be said. Certainly in my own case, when I lost the Faith I had no one to blame but myself. When I came back to the Faith I had no one to thank but God, I certainly did nothing to deserve it. Anyway just a thought. View attachment 1790
"when I lost the Faith I had no one to blame but myself. When I came back to the Faith I had no one to thank but God," That is so beautifully put - and so true of myself as well. As to Michael Voris, he makes a lot of good points. I know some who don't care for his combative style, but it's hard to fault what he says....
Yes I was fond of him too Clare till he took a slug at Medugorje. It's funny how much I can get to like folks who I always agree with. There is one thing I wonder about, I wonder if sometimes he is not being constantly too negative. Maybe say more positive things to say; well there must be something positive to say about something somewhere.....
It is always possible to be positive. Feminists used to greet the priests going in to Westminster Cathedral for the Chrism Mass with banners and slogans about their concerns. Someone in an orthodox Catholic women's group suggested that a counter demo should take place, but instead of angry words it was decided to hand each priest a holy card with a message of thanks. A banner was made saying 'thank you to our priests'. The fems stopped coming. No one told them they could not have their say - this being a free country. The response from the clergy was such that this is now a yearly practice. Similarly it's been shown that by openly criticising the bishops very little is achieved. All that happens is that one is branded a troublemaker or even a crank. That's not to say that everything is hunky dory - but we get further by accentuating the positive and praising where there is good. Just my two cents.
Clare said... but we get further by accentuating the positive and praising where there is good. Just my two cents. Its a little late for that Clare. Possibly half the reason why things are so bad is exactly because Bishops were never challenged. Some of the members here have challenged priests from what Ive read on this forum, over abuses ,and were treated like villans. I think it is a sad state of affairs that a layman has to point out errors as Michael does . It should be the Bishops of course. But as Our Lady tells us...they are among them...'The Sacred Sacrament of Holy Orders would be ridiculed, oppressed and despised. The demon would labor unceasingly to corrupt the clergy and would succeed with many of them. And these "depraved priests, who will scandalize the Christian people, will incite the hatred of the bad Christians and the enemies of the Roman, Catholic and Apostolic Church to fall upon all priests. This apparent triumph of Satan will bring enormous sufferings upon the good pastors of the Church."
Thank God for this time of Divine Mercy. We need His grace more than ever to survive spiritually. Thankfully, he has sent the Queen of Heaven to guide us.
There is so much confusion in the world. This does not help me one bit. I listen to Father Rocky on Relevant Radio. He doesn't seem over the top conservative or disrespectful in his talk. I wish I knew exactly what he said that is so controversial that another priest had to apologize for him and give his own interpretation of the Church's teachings on divorce and homosexual activity. On the other hand I have had my own (former) very liberal parish priest whisper to me that too many people are listening to Relevant Radio implying that it detracts from our faith. It is so hard to be Catholic when the leadership can't agree and you don't have the confidence in them.
I also live in a parish with liberal priests... what's Relevant Radio? is it in the US? I have heard of Register Radio, which sounds very good. Sadly there is a lot of confusion in the church today, partly I suspect by people thinking they can make up doctrine to suit their fancies.
Clare said... partly I suspect by people thinking they can make up doctrine to suit their fancies. Afraid so Clare . They are called the Hierarchy.
Joanne, this is why St. John Paul II the Great gave the Church the Catholic Catechism. This is the great treasure for our time and it is the one thing we can cling to when confusion sets in. It is a resource that can help clear up what nonsense is floating about in the media and within the Church itself.
Obviously there are good members of the hierarchy and there are bad ones. I would not throw them all into the same category any more than I would throw all lay people together. Its not that simple. Stick with the ones who are teaching what has always been taught in reference to Church doctrine and you will be fine. Follow the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
I am talking to the choir. I love Michael Voris, his daily fight for the faith but I wish he was more open to the yet to be approved private revelation (Catholic Answers too, they are very closed). In his latest Vortex... Private Revelation Take the good from yet to be approved private revelation. The be cautious advise, better to look back as example to Fatima or to one one or two approved messages in our present time. If only those in Catholic media would tell Catholics to read the daily messages from Heaven. The world is close to what the messages from Heaven say is going to happen! You don't have to wait for approval, a loss then, God is not silent in these end times, God is revealing and helping us now. So many are being awakened at 3:00 a.m, it is a holy hour to pray. Michael Voris shared today on the Vortex, a revelation given St. Teresa of Avila. Michael said of Our Lord..."he arose so early before dawn so that He could speed to His holy mother"... We know exactly when, it was the 3:00 a.m. hour Our Lord arose. Jesus told Stanley Villavicencio of the Philippines, a man who died and God brought back to life. (Q) "Stanley, how long were you dead?" (A) "I was clinically dead for three days. "By the way, because I am often asked about that three o'clock prayer in the morning and the three o'clock prayer in the afternoon. Because last year, when I give my testimony at the Vatican in front of all the Cardinals and Bishops, there were twenty-six Cardinals and fifty odd Bishops. One of the Cardinals asked me, 'What is the significance of the three o'clock prayer in the morning. Because there are so many answered prayers at three o'clock in the morning.' And I answered, 'That is the time of His Resurrection. ' And the Cardinal stood up and said that this was true, that in the Book, Jesus and Mary met at four o'clock in the morning. So they said, He must have resurrected at three o'clock."
