Arrested oil tycoon passed shares to banker

LONDON (Agence France-Presse) — Control of Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s shares in the Russian oil giant Yukos have passed to renowned banker Jacob Rothschild, under a deal they concluded prior to Mr. Khodorkovsky’s arrest, the Sunday Times reported.
Voting rights to the shares passed to Mr. Rothschild, 67, under a “previously unknown arrangement” designed to take effect in the event that Mr. Khodorkovsky could no longer “act as a beneficiary” of the shares, it said.
Mr. Khodorkovsky, 40, whom Russian authorities arrested at gunpoint and jailed pending further investigation last week, was said by the Sunday Times to have made the arrangement with Mr. Rothschild when he realized he was facing arrest.
Mr. Rothschild now controls the voting rights on a stake in Yukos worth almost $13.5 billion, the newspaper said in a dispatch from Moscow.
Mr. Khodorkovsky owns 4 percent of Yukos directly and 22 percent through a trust of which he is the sole beneficiary, according to Russian analysts.
From the figures reported in the Sunday Times, it appeared Mr. Rothschild had received control of all Mr. Khodorkovsky’s shares.
The two have known each other for years “through their mutual love of the arts” and their positions as directors of the Open Russia Foundation, Yukos’ philanthropic branch, it said.
Russian authorities Thursday froze billions of dollars of shares held by Mr. Khodorkovsky and his top lieutenants in Yukos — throwing control of the country’s largest oil company into limbo and causing frenzied selling on financial markets.
Russian prosecutors said owners of the shares are still entitled to dividends and retain voting rights, but can no longer sell their stakes.
They said the freeze was necessary as collateral for the $1 billion that Mr. Khodorkovsky and his associates are accused of misappropriating during the 1990s.
Mr. Rothschild is the British head of Europe’s wealthy and influential Rothschild family, and runs his own investment empire

I understand that to be into "conspiracies" gets you laughed at by the main stream media and the main stream of both political parties. But I have long thought that is because there is truth in believing in conspiracies ,
you just have to be careful.

Did not the jews conspire with the Romans to have Jesus killed?

Is there really such a thing as the New World Order? Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

Is the single bullet theory that killed JFK true?

Is Padraig into conspiracy theories about Vladimir Putin connected with dissidents being murdered? Are you?

Are the masons really against the catholic church? Anyone who believes this sure is kooky!

Do the powers of this world really control both political parties here in the US?

Are all the central banks of this world controlled by the Rothschields?

Are there really masons in the Vatican?

Where did the oligarchs in Russia get their seed money?

Why did Khodorovsky give his stake in Yukos to someone who doesn't really need it? What type of person is he?

Picadillo, I don't have a particular problem with the Washington Times nor the report you quote. Nor do I have a particular problem with people who pursue conspiracy theories but I personally find the latter to be a dangerous way of searching for the truth because, human nature being what it is, it is very difficult to avoid getting the facts to fit the theory when we already have a theory in mind.

Regarding the WT article, I don't see anything in it that makes Khodorkovsky "just another Russian oligarch, tycoon thug" as ministryvalues put it. The man seemed to be basically trying to protect his money from rapacious politicians... But as, I think, Peter B mentioned earlier, there is an indication that Khodorkovsky's incarceration has changed him somewhat. My views about him stem from taking an interest in him and his situation over the past 6 or 7 years.

I am open to discovering that I have got a mistaken view of him but what he had to say in Germany after his release is consistent with the impressed view I have of him.

You may be right about MK, I hope you are as I will pray for him. That being said, he does seem to be "in bed" with the top banksters. I believe, conspiracy theorist that I am, that it is the banksters who are enslaving the world's population and is the "whore of babylon" as described in the bible. That does not seem to bode well for MK, but with prayer anything is possible.

I'm going to jump in here at my risk. We cannot disregard the gifts of the consecrations to the World that the Popes have tried to do, despite the need to do what EXACTLY our lady asked at Fatima.
I have no doubt that Our Lady Queen of Peace is working harder than ever to convert souls everywhere. However, once a wolf, always a wolf. I have no hope that Prez Obama is going to turn religious overnight and neither is Putin considering his propensity for photo ops without his shirt hunting, fishing, racing, kissing Icons or whatever.

Why defend the Russian State run Orthodox Church?? I know Russians who are regular Orthodox and I know Ukrainian Eastern Rite (Catholic ) Ukrainian and Polish people. I was there two years ago with a Bishop. One thing I observed is the FEAR of the Russian Orthodox because of the brutality and indifference that was shown when Russia brutishly removed entire towns from Ukraine and planted them in Russia and planted Russians in Ukrainian towns and told them to 'be fruitful and multiply'. This fear right now is bubbling up again within the Ukraine. Civil war is at the door. The President there is a communist in bed with Putin. The people suffer so much because of policies that strangle them. They are so poor and suffering so much and no one is listening.

On the BBC the other night it spoke about the 'uprisings' in Ukraine. Well, my dear friend who is Ukrainian spoke to me yesterday and told me that she recently visited a holy woman in Ukraine who lives only on the Eucharist for years and years now. This woman told her personally that Ukraine will go to civil war and Russia, Syria and N. Korea will fight. This civil war right around the corner. The Ukrainian people cannot take it anymore.

Their piety and faith has taken them to the breaking point. Personally, I will be watching the news to see how Russia will be demonizing Ukraine. The Russian priest I had dinner with in Ukraine spoke of how he truly believed in the Russian Orthodox Church. Until after he was ordained....then he was ordered to write down the confessions of the people he heard. He escaped to Ukraine and joined the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He gave a homily at the dinner table that made everyone cry. The man will surly die for his faith.

He shows how they kept faith alive in prison camps, in remote villages, in monastery prisons, and in the secrecy of their homes, where the light of faith continued to burn brightly while churches crumbled or became dance halls and office buildings. This is the first book in English to recount in detail the fate of Catholic Russia and the Church in the various lands conquered by Soviet rule and its resistance to annihilation. It is at once a memorial to those who perished, a tribute to those who survived, and a testament to the enduring power of faith.

This is detailed enough to be a reference book and I personally think every Catholic should HAVE to read it, along with those being confirmed in the Church.

We cannot rely on the media. We must talk to the people. That is what has convinced me. I also had several visions over in Ukraine while I was there. I saw Russian soldiers marching down the streets of Lviv. I saw Russian Concentration camps with Ukrainians in them and it was winter time. I saw fields loaded with crucifixes as big as telephone poles waiting for the people to be crucified (lay people or priests/religious). I also saw the era of peace. Our Lord had mercy on me because I was so upset with what I saw regarding Russia.

I don't pretend to know how its all going to pan out. I know others here have had dreams and visions of Russia. I just do not believe for one minute Putin is telling the truth. I do know our Lady desires UNITY. The purification has to happen first within the Churches. Until THAT happens, its all smoke and mirrors.

Not disagreeing with anything you said. I was/am still a big "fan" of Josyp Terelya. That being said, I feel the central banking system is the 'whore of babylon" and that both of our parties are controlled by them. I am against all these wars we/our proxies have started in the middle east (although I whole-heartedly support our heroes everywhere). We all just seem to be puppets in this seemingly never-ending treadmill. It's heart-breaking to see Christians everywhere getting persecuted (including here in the west). Is Putin just putting on a show, probably, but at least he is giving it lip service.

 

Picadillo, no one can deny fear. It is a part of us. All of us have seen what is happening. We cannot get away from it. I agree with all you have said here, but I also see something else. We live in the U.S. so we are up close and personal with all the errors we are spreading via our govt. I assure you that every single nation is doing the same exact thing. NO one is scott-free regarding controlling banking systems, making people puppets, persecuting certain people, setting up abortion facility after tragic national disasters while being blackmailed by other countries with clean up money. On and on. Saying that the U.S. is bigger and badder than China, Cuba, N.Korea or the U.K. is not the most important point.

The fact is that communism started in Russia. Josef Terelya has great insight into the diabolical disorientation of the KGB/Communists. The youtube videos are good. The BEST is his book ' In the Kingdom of the Spirit' which I helped publish. WAAAAAY before his time!! He saw it all coming down the pike! I was at Josyp's funeral and wake. There were KGB there to make sure the guy was dead!! They were escorted out and given a tongue lashing.

Have you been reading Mark Mallett's blog? He touches on all of this. He really has such great insight and puts the puzzle together perfectly and how the diabolic is working in the world. Its like watching a train wreck. We cannot keep our eyes off of the news, (or our bank accounts for fear they will drain them!).

Putin is giving it lip service I think. It is best to talk to the Russians themselves and ask them! (where is a good holy Russian who isn't communist when you need them...) Found this website, but I'm sure there are a lot better ones...

Beautiful and exactly how I am feeling. I often compare it like Job, praying to Jesus to trust in Him. I am weak and unsure, things keep getting taken, I don't appreciate the things He has blessed me with, I am not worthy. Power games, intrigues of politics, hearts of men are certainly all at play here and it can lead us to anxiety and fear. I won't venture to guess why these are happening or if there is some plan, "divine" or not behind it. I can only go the only source that counts - The Word of God. I was contemplating all of this and was moved to read the chapter 6 below from the Book of Wisdom. Ultimately, all power, all planning comes from God. Our Lady said something in one of messages lately that has really stuck; she said, .'Many of your rulers are demons in human form'. I will have to try and find where she said this but looking at places like Syria, South Sudan and the Congo how true this is. Is it true for Mother Russia too? Sigh.

I don't believe in any conspiracy theory being true I believe in the possibility that the conspiracy theory could be true. Theories are always theories until they become fact and truth. There are countless conspiracy theories that were conspiracy theories until they were proven to be true in history. The biggest conspiracy theory or rather slight of hand and deception to all the world is sadly what most of the controlled msm puts out there for us to listen too. I can't even handle listening or reading the "news" by the mms because it is so one sided to one way or the other and is 90% negative. Why does news have to be negative to be news? Because fear and negativity is inside of all of us and sadly they want to control us by our fears and sell more papers and advertising space.

The detachment the Lord asks of us is so difficult. For me, it is especially so because this detachment involves the scattering of my children. One is in Florida, two are in California on the West Coast, and Benjamin is in Italy. My youngest, Danny, is still in high school, while Therese is down in Pennsylvania. Everything must be placed in Our Lady's hands, so that she may place her Son in ours. He is the ultimate, true love of our souls. Is this not the ultimate gift exchange on this Little Christmas: our everything for Him.
