Was reading some of Padre Pio's words before and he spoke about the trial of abandonment or "divine abandonment" where the soul perceives that God has abandoned them, but Padre Pio emphasises that God hasn't even though it may appear so and that people who love Jesus can experience this at times.
It is a very trying purification to love God when there is no sense that He is with you. It requires raw trust and sometimes that is excruciatingly hard.

I'm worried about something I saw in a book when I opened it up randomly. It said something about separation from God and hell. I hope I'm not separated from God and perhaps the devil used that page in the book to confuse me. Someone told me before that the devil can do such things.
I once read a book that said next to nobody would get to heaven. That negates God's mercy! But it was written by a saint! It still bugs me to this day but I cannot believe it is true - maybe for those like himself at the time it could be true but for the lay person, it was outright scary! No, God has justice that must be executed but there is SO much for those who are trying to love Him and He said to St. Faustina that his mercy is endless! Jesus, I love you and I trust in you!
Thanks sparrow. My primary fear is that I'm separated from God but trying to trust in Divine mercy, like you mentioned. Also Our Lady is calling me back to medjugorje for the second time this year so trying to trust in her.
