A lovely thought at mass this morning that at Catholic Churches all around the world these poor souls will be prayed for. Truly a Communion of Saints. Then I thought of all the 10.000 dead. Some few already in heaven right away. Some more quequed up in Purgatory waiting for entrance, some nearly right away some for longer. \The kind angels acting as shepherds. What does it matter if we have to wait in the hallway of Purgatory a little while? So long as we can enter. ‘O gates, lift high your heads; grow higher, ancient doors. The death toll could be even higher. The storm surge was like a tsunami at 20 feet flooded coastal towns and villages When I saw the satellite images I knew this was a mega storm of the century. It had incredible power. God Bless the Phillipines.

I live in a small town, and there are many people from the Phillipines here, most of them are members of my parish. They all have family still in the Phillipines. Hoping my parish can do something to help.
I have a question. It seems some are connecting this disaster with the wrath of God in relation to where humanity is at now. So, if this is really the case, why not let this happen to Europe? Why not swamp relatively comfortable white Europeans or even pick out a country, say, England because of the countless abortions happening there? France because of the huge turnaway from Catholicism or even Ireland, where Socialism has taken root. Why Far East countries where these disasters are the norm?
But the Phillipines have experienced have experienced the slightest touch where Europe will experience the full fist. People do not yet ask the full question about this phenomena , which is suppose storms like this become a regular occuring event throughout the year. Again suppose the weather was just one in a whole series of events such as earthquakes, famine disease and wars.... What happened in these islands was terrible but only I suspect a mere whisper of what is to come. I know I sound like the doomiest gloomiest guy in the galaxy but this is the truth.
Don't forget massive plagues and starvation forthcoming. It will be far worse than the Philippines. Keep in mind the 3rd secret of Fatima: 1) chastisements from man made and natural disasters 2) chastisements of the spiritual order (total loss of faith) and 3) Russia will be the ratchet of the first two. God have mercy on us all.
I can't but feel that this is also the MERCY of God. Here, or in Heaven, I want to have my children and husband and me WITH GOD. However he deems fit. The innocent cry out to heaven for justice. Evil is defined as 'the destroyer, death and destruction and a liar and thief'.
Luckily my in-laws in Manila are Ok. The magnitude of this disaster has shaken me to my core. I agree with the above sentiments - it may be a harbringer for future events for mankind.
Like others have said here, as strange as it may seem, I see this as an act of mercy. What is to come will be much, much worse and those who have died in this storm have been spared that. Wasn't it said in some prophesy that those who survive the great tribulation will envy the dead? And that many little children will be taken to heaven beforehand to spare their suffering? That's the only way I can look at it, an act of great mercy and a warning to the rest of the world.
To me, I think it's a mini wrath of god but it's already a big slap for all of us to wake up, I used to live in Cebu Philippines(1990-2002) when I was an adolescent and trust me that city is westernized, they have what western countries have, murderers, gangs, and lots of teenage violence but it seems its a majority since that island is so tiny & you have to watch your back for those who are envious of your wealth, either way at anytime you'll get cornered & get killed infront of others, believe me i'm surrounded by criminal classmates at that time. And I think cebu its worldly too, clubs bars and wild parties. That might have been already part of the great tribulation in book of revelations. Anyways, Western countries might just get a share of trials, big earthquakes, tsunamis and flood might strike in California and etc.. and Russia is a big concern.. they might play a heavy role in the chastisement. I ask god that my life will still reach all the way to the great warning, death before the warning happens, I consider it as a sad death. i'll pray for the people that died during super typhoon, pray for me as well. 2 times rosary for you and me daily.
I think we have to put this tragedy in historical proportion if we can fathom it. We currently have 7 billion people on this planet...so natural disasters will naturally have a much larger impact...then even 50 years ago. I don't want to sound harsh...but the truth be it known..." if you live on the railroad tracks...expect a train every once and again". I live in area with a high probability of tornadoes...if I am to die by a tornado...it doesn't mean God is angry with me or loves me any less. Human suffering is a great mystery...it rains on the bad and the good...we should all be mindful of our own mortality and try to be prepared to meet our Maker at any time.
I am going to go out on a limb here. Father Malichi Martin, spoke of a 'new energy' that will be manifested to the world. It is very cheap energy and if used for good would be a tremendous gift to mankind. However, if used for evil it could destroy mankind. He also felt that Russia has this energy taped and ready to use in an evil way. Some feel it is 'scaler energy', as they have recovered the science on this years ago. With this energy used in evil way's, man could manipulate weather, cause great upheaval in the ocean waters, on land and air. It can cause EMP (electro magnetic pulse) and could take out every form of computer board technology and take us back 100 years. Now I would not put my money on this, but Russia may have used this to generate the recent typhoon in the Philippines.
