And I don't find it necessary to insist that someone believe another person is as vile as you think he is, even if you're right. None of us know the mind of God and whom He chooses for His mysterious purposes, but we do know He calls us to love even our enemies.

Sorry to be so blunt but moaning & complaining about the site you are a member of is a very annoying trait on a discussion forum, as it is entirely voluntary. I for one don't like Trump but can see the hand of God using him for our chastisement, which we fully deserve given how sinful we have become.
Just an observation not an attack. I think it's fair to say the site can come across as fairly cliquey & members will come to one another's defense. Maybe because they are regulars & are highly regarded. Rather than perhaps ppl seeing things objectively. I've noticed the regulars get the most likes or it's rare their posts aren't 'liked' it's also as if new members or the ones who don't post very often get run off the site. Perhaps an anonymous like button may help, but it's probably hard for admin to implement that. Everyone will have a different perspective, some will handle things rationally the way you have. But often, things aren't handled this way so ppl get upset, therefore have something to say. I often feel when a seemingly outsider says something they do get attacked so expressing so is fair & they end up eventually not posting anyway... Like for myself, I'm better to read daily than participate lol. Or perhaps ppl haven't liked particular things a member has said/their perspective. And, rather than thinking why they would think a certain way etc they dismiss them altogether. When these days ppl want to know the Truth, but also feel included & accepted & they come to a Catholic site wanting that. Wanting more comfort from what they can get from the world & how they are already being treated in their daily lives...
Down through the years we have had plenty of disputes, arguments, strops and fall outs. This forum isnt for everyone and people leave for various reasons maybe some of what you say is true but the forum goes on regardless for better or for worse. I would agree with you concerning the like button im not a fan either. My thinking is that there are many Catholic forums, discussion boards & websites out there so people can freely choose ones that suit their personality and needs. Each of those forums has a particular charism. But there are also many people who have left this forum and continue to look in now & again, they find it hard to resist a wee look.
